Zoe Nutrition Testing

Not sure this is the right place for this...

Anyone else doing the Zoe Nutrition Testing?

My results were poor, so now I'm tackling my diet. I thought it was pretty good but it's clear it needs a major overhaul. So much information but finding it good.🙂

@Wombat27A you can make your own iron water at home with luckyironfish.com . It is a cast iron ingot that you put either in your pot whilst you cook a stew or soup, or just in a pot of boiling water for 10 min with a few drops of lemon. After 10 min you have home made spatone.
You can use the iron-water to cook rice, quinoa, pasta, potatoes,.... or herbal tea. But not for coffee or tea even decaf.
The fish-shaped iron ingot will last you decades. It doesn't cause cramps or nausea.

Thanks. 👍😁

@Wombat27A I need to get my thyroid checked again - it's sub optimal and I have autoimmune anti bodies but only just so no one will treat it (private and normal gp).

Late 40s is a funny age I am finding. I am struggling with a lot of sinus and migraine issues atm and so much of it is put down as peri. It's my birthday next month and my lovely gp has suggested I treat myself to an appointment re hrt even though nominally my symptoms aren't too bad yet.

Who would be a girl eh!

Wombat27A · 01/09/2022 11:20

My GP started low dose thyroid treatment, despite it being sub-clinical.

The Nice guideline suggest a trial if symptoms are present.

I should have started hrt sooner but couldn't get my coil change sorted.

Harissa is a good idea @lugeforlife, I'll get some in and some tahini. I had soft boiled eggs on rye bread with spinach tonight and really enjoyed that.

Given the amount of avocado I've been getting through I decided to economise and buy wonky ones this week. Which are fine but they're huge. Is there anyway to store unused avocado?

I've been on hrt for a year now, it's mostly helped my brain fog and general irritability, maybe my dry skin. Not had much impact on energy levels. My running has really suffered over that time, so I'm hoping the energy impact of Zoe will help there.

Wombat27A · 01/09/2022 21:26

Yep, in fridge with lemon juice on the cut side.

@chutneypig do you leave the stone in?

My grandmother was ahead of her time in many ways god bless her! Back in the 80s she caught the avocado bug and started using them in place of butter. She would sort of take the top off like you would a boiled egg then scrape out enough flash for her toast, leaving the stone in and the skin on as much as possible. She'd keep it useable for a week like that.

She also acted very prim to my mother but once spent an afternoon getting pissed with me on 7 year old amarula cream and telling me about her weekend of dirty sex in her 20s (which was pre war) with a man who was not my grandfather...., legend she was.

chutneypig · 02/09/2022 05:58

Thanks both, I'll give those a go. I'll probably only get tiny avocados for weeks now!

Loved the story about your grandmother @lugeforlife

lugeforlife · 02/09/2022 12:48

Ok ladies who have been doing this for a bit. What is you average weekly score looking like? I am at the end of week 4 and day to day I score about 70. Go over 75 a few times a week and do have one day where I seem to tank (out for food, work thing etc). My average is therefore about 67.

I really want it over 70 next week! Hopefully back to school will help.

I am so interested in this. Heard about it ages ago when Tim Spector did it, and didn’t realise it was now “live”. Just signed up to the wait list, but does anyone have a referral code? Thanks.

ashlondon456 · 02/09/2022 21:01

@psed yes I have

Thank you! I’ve ordered it - really excited to get going with it. Gonna try and convince DH to do it too, as he gets so hangry at times, it would be good to see if it’ll help.

chutneypig · 03/09/2022 06:24

@psed I've definitely noticed an impact on my hunger levels, I'm. Or constantly thinking about my next snack.

@lugeforlife I've not done a full week yet when I feel I've given it total focus, mainly my holiday. I hope you find it easier next week, I definitely am better when I'm working, just more routine. I'm managing 80-85 generally, but it's weekends navigating round the family that have been my downfall previously. I'm hoping the week average is going to be a motivator for me.

My breakfast and lunch are always 75 so it depends what dinner is and what other crap I have in between.
I’ve had a couple of weeks off-plan - holiday, and then pre-period week which is always bad and coincided with last week of summer hols, so hell. Really hoping to get re-focused this week coming!!

I am quite frustrated by the binary nature of the quizzes and feedback - eg I eat crap because I feel rubbish, but the app always talks about feeling crap because you’re eating rubbish. There’s not really any consideration yet for your psychology around food - that’s more of a Noom thing I think? Also ‘how’s your hunger’ - they seem to think it’s good to never be hungry, but also talk about listening to your body’s cues. The only time I have ever lost weight I spent a lot of the time hungry and I don’t like the feeling of being full all the time (although I am, because I am always bloody snacking through stress). So am finding these things a bit frustrating at the mo! But am going to persist.

MassiveSalad22 · 03/09/2022 13:00

I eat the same thing every day - although sometimes no breakfast, and sometimes the same lunch just not wrapped in a wrap! So this time of day I am almost always at this score. I really need to plan high-scoring family meals for the evenings going forward!

Arghh I registered and received my box just now but can't login the app and the emails to hello@joinzoe do not get answered ( 25th August 1st one). So frustrated. Does anyone on the app access to a phone number or a better email pl? It's an username issue, must have made a typo

I looked at the app and it only has the chat function on the contact page.

Have you tried their IG page and a DM?

If you don't get any joy, DM me and I'll msg them on chat. Will still take a few days tho.

Question for anyone who has Livlife bread - where do you buy it?! I feel I need it in my life but I'm struggling to find it.

lugeforlife · 07/09/2022 06:47

@chutneypig Waitrose matey. It's the only place I've seen it.

chutneypig · 07/09/2022 21:40

Thanks I'll have a look. I've got some rye bread at the moment but I'm not the biggest fan.

Im definitely seeing an improvement in my energy levels - no mid afternoon slump - but no real impact on my weight yet.

VinoEsmeralda · 07/09/2022 21:57

Sorry, managed to login ( caps on😚). Starting tomorrow, rather excited excited!

Wombat27A · 08/09/2022 08:51

I had a look at the ingredients for Liv bread & it's one that's fairly easy to make.

I talked to the coaches about bread as I score really badly for it & they suggested a recipe for foccacia. I already made something similar & it's an overnight dough, no kneading, etc. If anyone wants the recipe, I'll write it out. Can add a load of seeds to make it more compliant too, tho I've not scored it.

Good luck, keep calm, work through the instructions. Have lots of liquid, especially with the first lot of muffins.

It's really good fun, once you get the hang of it/become obsessed with the blood glucose monitoring. 😁👌

Enjoy @VinoEsmeralda . Well not the muffins, but definitely the glucose monitor. I feel quite nostalgic looking back.

That's a good idea to look at the ingredients @Wombat27A. I'd love the focaccia recipe if you don't mind.
