Not sure this is the right place for this...

Anyone else doing the Zoe Nutrition Testing?

My results were poor, so now I'm tackling my diet. I thought it was pretty good but it's clear it needs a major overhaul. So much information but finding it good.🙂

I didnt bleed with the monitor, hope its sticking ok! I couldnt poop on demand, I had to send mine a day later!

MassiveSalad22 · 09/08/2022 10:52

@BarryKentPoet i got mine a week early too

@hushiebaa hope you pooped ok 😄

im very pleased because last night had a Nando’s and remained green - Zoe app told me I could have a wrap, coleslaw and macho peas for a score of 76 so I did indeed! (And had about 6 of DH’s chips which I didn’t log 😄)

my planned lunch today is scoring 100! Nori wraps 🙌🏻 Good because I had an orange breakfast - toast, PB, banana and chia seeds.

I find this thread very helpful so I am grateful to @Wombat27A for starting it. I also am in a FB group UK Zoe Nutrition Chat (Unofficial) https://www.facebook.com/groups/1110069442927390 is anyone else in the same group, it only has 34 members so maybe not but that's really good too!

Wombat27A · 09/08/2022 13:26

D'oh, I never thought to see if there was a FB group. Ta for that, I might lurk out of the shadows into the light!

I got an answer about cummulative blood sugar question. Tho different to the fat accummulation, successive high-sugar meals do lead to higher and longer sugar spikes.

That's interesting wombat. Aligns with my 'bad day' experiences

I had some spare time today and took myself off to Lidl and Tesco to buy some ingredients. It was Spanish week in Lidl so I got some butter beans in spicy sauce and jarred chickpeas in a bid to up the pulses.

In fact I think pulses are really important for me. I've never been a fan but they are green carbs aren't they and fill me up well. I have realised that with the exception of chickpeas in some dishes, I don't like them when whole (like in a bean chilli or a salad) but stuff like Dahl, falafel and refried beans where they are mushed up and with lots of flavour I do like.

Zoe posted a bean recipe on instagram yesterday which was mega easy and involved slightly mushing some white beans with tahini and miso. I did that, added in some spinach then had with a dollop of home made guac and an egg and had a lunch in the 90s which took 10 mins to cook. Was amazing!

Wombat27A · 09/08/2022 17:27

I'm eating a lot more peas and beans. I hate feeling empty and too much salad/veg gets all a bit much.

I made a hummus today that was a can of chickpeas, spices, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil and little pointy jar peppers from Lidl whizzed up. Had that with focaccia with seeds on and minty yoghurt. I've not done the score but it was really nice!

Holy Sh*ing God, just had the breakfast muffins this morning, really really not looking forward to lunch

Wombat27A · 10/08/2022 10:12

It gets better.

Day 1 for me today, everything straight forward so far, although I await the muffins with trepidation day after tomorrow...

How much advice and support do you get on improving gut biome? It's such a fascinating yet new science.

Wombat27A · 11/08/2022 12:20

There's a section on it in the coaching.

So adding in boosters, controlling stress, etc.

Flockameanie · 11/08/2022 17:59

I just got my results!
As expected, poor blood glucose (32 😬). But excellent blood fat control (86! 😇). Gut microbe diversity is lower 25%, but better on ratio of good to bad (66).

Good to see that my regular breakfast and lunches scores well. I didn’t really log much else during the testing phase, so I can’t wait to get stuck in to the coaching.

Wombat27A · 11/08/2022 19:16

I am positively green with envy!

Ha, ha. :-)

Can I ask, how do you know when your report is due? I hear some people talk about dates but I don't have one.

Also, do you still have the option to start a new chat? I don't see the option to start a new chat any more (day 15).

How long did you wait for your results?

MassiveSalad22 · 12/08/2022 07:33

One day a ‘results due X date’ will pop up on your lessons page (in small text! Above the lessons if I remember rightly).

I must have waited about 4 weeks for my results? They came a week early. Think it’s estimated to be a 6 week wait.

Start a new chat by clicking on the 3 lines too left, then chat with us. Or go to FAQs/help and when it says ‘did this help?’ Say no then ‘talk to a person’

RetrainRetrain · 12/08/2022 10:02

Thanks for this. I will look out for the date there.
I was able to send messages before but now just get in a loop because there's no option to start a new chat on the chat icon and if I go to help it says that to contact them i have to go in the chat 🤦 Sound like it's a glitch though so hopefully will get sorted
i have to say, I find it very much like signing up for a beta test stage which is at odds with the high cost.
My advice to anyone thinking of signing up would be to listen to the podcasts for free instead and get yourself a blood sugar monitor and play around with the food combinations they discuss in the podcasts

Flockameanie · 12/08/2022 14:32

I got my results just under a month of completing the testing. They came a couple of days earlier than the app said.

contrary to @RetrainRetrain I’m getting a lot out of this, now I’ve got my scores, compared to just wearing a glucose monitor. Blood glucose is only part of the picture for gut health. Based on a glucose monitor there’s stuff I would have avoided that actually scores really high for me on the app… I’m loving the challenge of putting together high scoring meals and seeing what combos work best at different times of day, etc.

MassiveSalad22 · 12/08/2022 14:37

Hmm that does sound like a glitch @RetrainRetrain , here’s a pic of what I get when I click on ‘chat with us’.

I know what you mean, it has been very glitchy and was very glitchy before/during the rebrand but I guess that makes sense. I am enjoying the process overall and it’s been good to know that actually I was right about some things I suspected, and very wrong about others (eg there are really no carbs that are ok for me and it’s been quite easy so far going without/pairing foods for a better impact). It would be have been easy for me to remain blissfully ignorant about that! I’ve not lost any weight yet but at least I know now that I’m doing the best I can for my health besides losing weight. For an anxious Annie like me that is worth the price!

@RetrainRetrain, is your sensor off now? I got my date on the start of the 3rd week once my sensor was off.

I also just tested the chat and it came up straight away. Do you have any updates pending (I am shit at doing my app updates).

For me, I would disagree re listening to the podcasts/getting a cgm as an equivalent. Now I have my scores I am reassured by them and I personally find the post score tracking really helpful. I am making better choices and finding really good alternatives. I need the structure of the tracking to support me with this.

Nothing I have learned has been ground breaking and is mostly covered elsewhere (the glucose goddess, why we eat too much etc) I also think there is space to track more stuff like exercise and I've given that feedback. But for my personal needs it has engaged me in a fairly low stress way which is just what I need.

Too early to see results yet but I comfortably did up size 18 jeans as opposed to struggling to do so a few weeks ago plus I can see a real difference on the daily 'rate my poo' charts!

Wombat27A · 12/08/2022 16:19

It is the beta phase, it says it somewhere.

It was a lot more in the US. I was surprised by the cost here as the Good Gut project was a fair whack & not personal.

I think it's good value but only if you really struggle & have done all the usual things & it's not worked.

OP posts:
Wombat27A · 12/08/2022 16:20

I stopped tracking & as per usual weight is creeping up again. Light touch coaching works well for me.

That's helpful thanks, I am missing the start new chat bit which is a bit frustrating as I need to tell them the monitor stopped working two days before the end of that phase.
My favourite bit at the moment is the 30 plants a week challenge. I like the idea of a healthy eating plan that isnt about limiting food

Wombat27A · 13/08/2022 00:04

I used to eat a lot of rice as I thought it was fine. Turns out I'd have been better with chips. 😊🍟😎

That's worth knowing. 😁😋

Really useful thread, thank you. I've just eaten my final bagel so 2 more days to go with sensor. Have been amazed by it. Eg my 'healthy' breakfast porridge turns out to be a dreadful way to start the day, and buying 'healthy' sushi instead of a supermarket sandwich - same.

Wombat27A · 13/08/2022 11:07

Yep, I was eating oats and rice and lots of things I thought had improved my diet over the years. I'm definitely not perfect now but I feel a lot less puffy!
