For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I bought dh a yard of honey for Christmas. It is a whole tray from the beehive. It looks and smells amazing, tastes good too though we've only cut a little square out so far. Dcs are fascinated with the way some of the ends are sealed off, some not etc. You do end up chewing quite a bit of wax but it feels good for you.

TooTicky · 11/01/2008 15:37

Goodness, it is wet!
Got soaked to the skin again today. Why is my so-called waterproof coat not waterproof?
Am wondering if I should be growing rice rather than veg. Or possibly watercress.
Pitta with tofu, mushrooms and tomato.

Do you grow veg, Toot? I don't know how thats escaped my notice, perhaps I'm not very attentive

pinkspottywellies · 11/01/2008 17:54

Honey sounds amazing MrsC. Was it local - it would be a good present for my stepdad.

TooT what veg do you grow? I'd like to grow something foolproof and not too time consuming. We've got a border I could clear out but I know you can grow quite a lot in containers so that might be an idea. I love the idea of growing hanging basket tomatoes!

I've just been for my half hour run in the rain so I've now completed week one in the couch to 5k programme. Can I have a special veggers gold exercise star please Fruit and veg a different story however! About 5 so far but will have fruit after tea tonight. I can probably make 7 or 8.

Thanks Avi! I'll go tonight. Any more news on the work stuff? It's not sorted is it? Or did I miss a bit!?

There's a programme on Channel4 about people who follow a raw food diet. Fascinating.

zippitippitoes · 11/01/2008 19:42

MrsCarrot · 11/01/2008 19:43

Oh, I say, Zippi, he's gorgeous!

FrayedKnot · 11/01/2008 19:48

Zippi I can;t see your profile!

I've had a big bowl of fruit salad this morning, celery, bubble & squeak made from yesterday's swede, cabbage & parnsip, and peas.

This year in our rejigged garden I am planning to grow squash (up the trellis), courgettes, maybe some chard, tomatoes, and a root vegetable, which I am undecided on - maybe parsnips.

zippitippitoes · 11/01/2008 19:50

it's on here..now i have changed my name

FrayedKnot · 11/01/2008 19:51

Ooh, he's lovely Zippi

(But don;t show Franny, you know what she's like)

MrsCarrot · 11/01/2008 19:52

oh, yes, Franny will lurve him. He is very handsome, with a glint of sensitivty and charm. Very nice.

pinkspottywellies · 11/01/2008 19:57

Ooh he's lovely Zippi!

pinkspottywellies · 11/01/2008 19:58

Ooh FK, I hadn't thought about growing squash. Do they climb? What kind will you grow?

ahundredtimes · 11/01/2008 20:06

Oh good I've turned up at just the right time.

He's very handsome Zipp. He looks like the foreign exchange student everyone lusted after.

TooT does grow vegetables doesn't she? I think she has an allotment, but it is a bit of a walk away down a muddy lane and sometimes when it's raining it is tiring going there but she is very good and lugs things down there.

But I may have made all that up.

I have sent dh to a party I have decided to refuse to go to. Hooray.

I like the idea of having an allotment, but realy I would like to go there and pick the berries while someone else does the digging.

Unlike you to spurn a party isn't it? Are they dull and disapproving of sneaky roll-ups in bushes?
