have a great time fg and cc! i think i'm at home being boring today!!

no cc, i can't seem to find anything on the bbc website from last night!

prefernot · 13/11/2004 12:03

Hi all, just checking in. Managed to surf through last night's cravings which were STRONG. Today easier and hopefully it'll continue to get easier as the days go by. I STILL woke up with a damned headache today though ... grrrrrr ...

minkmama · 13/11/2004 12:23

Is there anything else bothering you at the moment PN? It doesn't sound right that you have such a prolonged headache! What did your GP say in the end?

I find with the eating that i'm eating loads more comfort (i.e. cellulite-creating) foods in the winter, so added to the need-to-keep-mouth-busy syndrome there apparently is no time to put a ciggie in my mouth anyway

was really nice reading about your little family, your daughter is so lucky soaking up all the intelligence you and dh can hand down to her! unfortunately my boys only get it from me

minkmama · 13/11/2004 12:25

oh and go out and get a small bottle of lavender essential oil (make sure it's lavendula augustofolia not hybrida) and try dabbing a couple of drops onto your wrists then rub onto your temples. have a good sniff too. I find this works wonders for me and my tense head!!

prefernot · 13/11/2004 14:09

I'll do that minkmama, thanks. I'm pretty sure the headache is a tension headache though it does worry me it's going on so long. GP thought blood pressure etc. was ok, did a blood test for thyroid function (which I've had done before and has always been ok) and told me to rest. Easier said than done, no?!

charliecat · 13/11/2004 18:26

That headache should be gone by now PN...well we ended up at godstone as there was choas on the roads due to a tanker of petrol and the girls had a fab time although it was BLOODY FREEZING.
havent had many fag thoughts...woohoooo and am just gonna have a take out xx

OP posts:
minkmama · 13/11/2004 19:57

freezing is not the word - dh said he hoped you guys had wrapped up well for that outing!

btw, i hit 1mth and 2d

charliecat · 13/11/2004 20:06

Well Done MM!!!!!!! Theres no going back now is there? Do you feel you are there now?
We all had long sleeved t shirts jumpers and big coats on but it wasnt enough! Thank full for the indoor play area!!!

OP posts:
prefernot · 13/11/2004 21:21

Gosh yes, freezing here too!

I know the headache should be gone. I don't think it can be nicotine withdrawal after all this time do you? I do think it is a little bit better yesterday and today, only 3 doses of paracetamol instead of 4 ...

Cravings definitely easier today. It's just this sudden hungry feeling in my lungs I get now and then. Do you all still get that or is it more purely psychological now?

charliecat · 13/11/2004 21:23

Massive Favour here, do any of you live near a toys r us?...As they have this on sale and even with p and p it would still be a bargain...

OP posts:
charliecat · 13/11/2004 21:24

PN posts crossed, mines more of a all over nervous tight judder all over rather than all in my lings...though I do know exactly what your on about...going to watch movie ta ta for nowx

OP posts:
prefernot · 13/11/2004 21:31

What you watching cc? Well, you'll probably answer that tomorrow ...

minkmama · 14/11/2004 00:05

hi cc, i live extremely close to one, can go on Tuesday as ds1 will be at nursery. it's such a cute pressie, wish i had one when i was a kid...!

my craving tends to be a hunger in my lungs too that spreads through my throat clogs it up till it spreads to my brain and then i get tingly fingers. i find very deep breathing helps, much like giving birth only more painful (the non-smoking that is )

off to bed now, it's damn cold, my heating's on full blast and since i don't have double glazing i have to keep the kitchen shut or else the wind puffs its way through the house and sucks up all the heat!!

charliecat · 14/11/2004 09:32

Oh excellent MM...That would be fab...
Paddy watched something up the stairs and I watched Bridget Jones on the tv in bed. It was quite good. Couldnt stop laughing at the big knickers bit
At the moment I feel as if running into a field in the middle of nowhere and screaming really loud and really long would release an awful lot of tension and id feel much better after...except id get carted off by the police and locked up as I cant think of anywhere far enough away!

OP posts:
charliecat · 14/11/2004 18:16

Hi MM unless youve toddled off to Toys r Us already for me theres no need to go on Tuesday as we went today...we were about 25 mins away from one and it seemed worth the journey. Of course I will buy the farm off you and flog it if youve already been, but I doubt you have..but if you have I will still have it xxx
Better bargain than i could have imagined, if you spend 30 quid on Playmobil you got a very nice super set free worth 11.99 so i got 77 quids worth for 36
Bargain Hunter!
Must dash, where is everyone? xx

OP posts:
minkmama · 14/11/2004 20:26

no i haven't been yet! that deal is excellent! is it any playmobil, because there's a great fire engine that ds1 will love!

ds1 feeling v. poorly, got a cold and his eczema's flared up and he vomited all over me and the kitchen after lunch trying to wolf down the last spoon i had threatened him with i threw an enormous fit (if you remember he is an erratic eater so these episodes push me over the edge) and shut the kitchen door cleaning up whilst he cried outside it. then i hear knocking and he's saying 'knock knock knock knock' so i open it and bless, he says 'eat. happy.' meaning he will eat to make mummy happy...nearly cried!

apart from that i'm fine, how's everyone?

prefernot · 14/11/2004 20:48

Awww ... minkmama, they really get to you sometimes don't they? How old is your ds1? My dd's a dire eater, drives me nuts sometimes though I try not to get cross as I was just the same as a kid (still am ) and I remember horrible battles with my mum over food.

It IS freezing here in SE London. And dark. The days feel very strange at the moment, I feel a bit surreal that I 'no longer smoke', as though a part of my entire character is changed. Apart from my 2 years of not smoking 10 years or so ago, I've been A Smoker since I was about 19. You really think of yourself as a smoker don't you? I still haven't made that transition to thinking I'm not one. This is like some strange ordeal I'm putting myself through and at some point I'm going to reward myself with a nice long ciggie. Dd's been doing these incredibly long daytime sleeps 2-3 hours and I often nap too trying to get rid of my headache (which also leaves my brain fuddled) so I just feel utterly totally bizarre and unreal right now. Only odd moments feel clear and 'normal.'

charliecat · 14/11/2004 21:13

Ahhh totally prefernot...and i cant say its much better now 1 month on...As ive never felt so out of it I am thinking this is because this is IT and theres no other way now and im taking my time adjusting...I dont feel im going to reward myself with a fag as i have done than many many many times and it only ever ends up 30 the next day with a big black cloud of regret so im not even going there.
Feel strange though, about 3inches away from reality?
MM its all playmobil

OP posts:
charliecat · 14/11/2004 21:15

Oh and your ds.... How sweet...Poor little mite.
I now hove a radar in my head when the one last mouthful is enough after about 15 episodes of being vomitted on...but its hard when the whole blooming meal is only 6 mouthfuls and they struggle to eat the last 5
I am banning nuggetts from my house after Xmas...no more shite. They will have to eat normal food if theres no shite here.

OP posts:
prefernot · 14/11/2004 22:05

Yes, cc, reality is still in the familiar click of my lighter right now ... my clear lungs feel like someone elses ...

charliecat · 14/11/2004 22:06

LOL Prefernot

OP posts:
minkmama · 14/11/2004 22:12

oh i know cc, i could only get ds1 (he's 2 on the 22nd PN) to eat frankfurters and ready made macaroni cheese at one point but i think what is most frustrating is that he actually ate really well for about a month recently even with biscuits and snacks in between. plus, when you make your own stuff and they point blank refuse to eat...GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

he's so tiny albeit strong and active but you just wish...oh, no point beating yourself up about it is there? he's a stubborn little tike as well in fact, both my boys are - ds1's a Scorpio and ds2 is an Aries like me which makes it near enough impossible to force them to do anything

sorry, rambling on a bit now!!

upside is, he ate "loads" at nursery...

codswallop · 14/11/2004 22:13

hi there oh lovely smelling ones
is one of hte side eefects of giving up better sense f smell btw?

minkmama · 14/11/2004 22:14

oh yeah, about the 'smoking' LOL

i flit between feeling like a non-smoker and a smoker. but i guess it's like twink said once, she is a recovering smoker. let's face it, 10-20yrs of smoking will brainwash you won't it?!! as long as we keep on this track for another 10-20yrs we should eventually feel like what we've become!

codswallop · 14/11/2004 22:14
