For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

What's being published? Is this to do with the birthday tables?

filthymindedvixen · 25/11/2007 10:35

also, for non-vegetarians, adding extra veg to 'normal' meals gets easier as you go along. For example, now when i do shep's pie, instead of just doing mince, onions, carrots, I add leek, tomatoes, green beans and sweet potato. Then do 2 or 3 veg as a side.
Similarly, with lasagnes, curries etc. Even in home made pizza sauce, you can add sweet potato to the sauce and blend it down. It adds a lovely richness and sweetness to the sauce.
DH (who is allergic to healthy eating) calls it health by stealth but agrees it is tastier.

I'm not managing anywhere near 10 atm. Everything seems such a rush.

filthymindedvixen · 25/11/2007 10:38

Toot yes, Caitlin is on the case.....

filthymindedvixen · 25/11/2007 10:39

toot, me either I don't seem to have time to eat properly at the moment. I will manage 10 at sunday dinner

MrsCarrot · 25/11/2007 10:39

Franny - have a poster instead!

MrsCarrot · 25/11/2007 10:42

Mmmm, I need a roast dinner today. I get bored of the same old thing though, might dig out my Nigel Slater. What I would like is for someone to make it for me. And the Christmas cake.

filthymindedvixen · 25/11/2007 10:45

we're dishing up at 2-2.30 - get yourselves over...I'm feeding 12 so a few more more make any difference...bring wine though. Twill cover any deficiencies in quantity of food

Tatties · 25/11/2007 10:46

Morning

I spent all night in ds's bed - bizzarely he wanted to stay there with me rather than coming in to our bed. He is always baffling me

TooTicky · 25/11/2007 11:01

Who is Caitlin?

MrsCarrot · 25/11/2007 11:01

I thought you said get over yourselves at first glance there, FMV!

TooTicky · 25/11/2007 11:04

All 4 dcs slept with me last night. It was lovely. We had a long bedtime with lots of stories and talking and everybody was Nice to everybody else and ds1 even lent ds2 a badger!
For some reason though I woke up at about 4ish and couldn't sleep so I wrote a long letter to my aunt.

I made too much porridge this morning. I am slowly eating my way through the leftovers.

MrsCarrot · 25/11/2007 11:18

look at these laughing babies they're hilarious here

TooTicky · 25/11/2007 11:23
Grin
MrsCarrot · 25/11/2007 11:26

Those quadruplets were so funny weren't they, once they'd started they kept making each other laugh. So funny. And the one who rolled over.

Oh dear, I seem to be ignoring my baby who is awake now, to look at other laughing babies.

TooTicky · 25/11/2007 11:30

Why is it that dd2 will happily eat kiwi fruit skin but not apple skin?

Boco · 25/11/2007 11:42

Toot you sound such a lovely family. DDs get into bed with us and it's all toes up your nose and squabbling over who is where.

The article isn't stressing, and actually it's not the birthday table either, just dp being not very well is hard atm. Banana milkshake sounds good, i'll try that, we have lots of bananas.

TooTicky · 25/11/2007 11:53

We normally have squabbling and riots - last night was a rare treat!

Add cinnamon and a few oats to your milkshake

MrsCarrot · 25/11/2007 11:53

Oh dear, Boco, hope it settles down soon. Must be a big worry.

Boco · 25/11/2007 12:16

Thanks, sure it will. The toy sorting is not going well. DDs are clinging to small plastic pieces of tat with no heads and saying 'but i love this, it's my absolute favourite!'

TooTicky · 25/11/2007 12:17

Sorting of that nature is best done when dcs are out.

Aitch · 25/11/2007 12:20

just checking in to see if Franny's feeling any more hale and hearty.

FrannyandZooey · 25/11/2007 13:07

Oh sorry Boco, I was just fixated on the birthday table. How is your skin? I couldn't see the slightest hint of anything wrong in London. But I am not always very good at noticing.

Aitch I am grand, thank you. I am knackered and over sensitive and I only want to eat carbohydrates, but other than that, marvellous.
