For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

that you think I would preside over cheesestrings takeover

am insulted at your low opinion of me

IdrisTheDragon · 16/11/2007 10:41

I will inflitrate everyone with jelly beans. DH got me some yesterday .

He is very lovely (they were in TK Maxx. This surprised me).

My depression is more. Bother again. But have been to the doctor and also am off work, who have been nice and supportive. Which is also good.

IdrisTheDragon · 16/11/2007 10:43

TooT, DS is 4 next week (the 22nd ). I am sure some other 10/10er has a DC with a birthday then as well.

DD is very nearly 2.2 (birthday is 20th September). She is starting to be able to talk properly now and it is very lovely .

IdrisTheDragon · 16/11/2007 10:43

I have had a banana .

FrannyandZooey · 16/11/2007 10:57

ooh, macaroni cheese

SauerKraut · 16/11/2007 11:02

Heehee, putting ideas into our heads! A takeover sounds like a jolly good idea to me. Although it's more likely to be garlicky than cheese stringy...
Or else you can come and pull strings with me, frothy, you can be assistant puppeteer.
I need to be kept sane today. Dd3 is having a lump in her calf investigated. She has had it for a while, it as been x-rayed, but it has suddenly turned into 3 lumps. I stupidly googled.

Sorry to hear about depression, Idris. I'm glad you're feeling supported, though. It can be so grim.

frothykindofadrink · 16/11/2007 11:12

oh Sauer you must never google health things

I am banned from it on pain of divorce

frothykindofadrink · 16/11/2007 11:13

I hope your dd is fine

I used to have a lump in my shin till I was about 25

then I went looking for it one day and it was gone

SauerKraut · 16/11/2007 11:24

I'm not surprised, I'll have to get dh to threaten me. That's reassuring, thanks, froth. I am muttering "cyst, cyst" to myself and self- indulgently scoffing a plate of rice and broccoli with loads of double Gloucester (ferried across from Dublin by my mother) and mayonnaise.

lionheart · 16/11/2007 11:28

Very sorry about depression, Idris. It's a bugger.

FrannyandZooey · 16/11/2007 11:48

A garlicky takeover will certainly ensure a rout, as I will never be able to come back

Idris I wish you were coming to the meet. I am sorry things have got so bad but glad you can have some time off work - I hope it helps.

Boco · 16/11/2007 11:59

Good morning. At last making headway with birthday table battle - or at least other people are helping now after awful day yesterday with dd. She's still very very upset and didn't want to go to school today - then to make things worse we arrived at school in her uniform and everyone else was dressed in spotty clothes for children in need [bad bad forgetful mother] Had to run home and find spotty things.

FrannyandZooey · 16/11/2007 12:00

I would have had to attack something with a felt tip Boco, so I am glad you HAD spotty clothes to be dashed home for

IdrisTheDragon · 16/11/2007 12:10

I will be the mother who forgets to do things at school. I already forget things at pre-school . For all I know there were Children in need things there today [worried )

I will come to another meet-up. So Everyone is to have a wonmderful time and want to have another one .

And Eat Lots and Lots of Cake .

MrsCarrot · 16/11/2007 12:32

Boco - I did the same thing. I sent dd off with dh feeling very pleased that we had finished the christmas shoe box appeal thing in time and dh came back saying she was upset as we'd forgotten it was dress-up day.

I had to race up there with a fairy outfit, the fourth time this week I have appearec at the office for some reason or other. Forgotten lunch, or rather an exchanged lunch as I didn't want her eating bird-flu turkey. I told her it was just so she had extra veg because of her cough. Am trying not to pass all my neuroses on to her.

Speaking of her cough, she was late yesterday as we went to the doctors with said cough and her asthma has returned apparently. Also, her slight hearing impairment is actually glue ear so she is being booked in with the CO next week and is being councelled over the possiblity of cutting out her favourite sandwich filling. Cheese. She doesn't have any other dairy really.

Sorru to hear you're down, Idris, try and have a good rest while you're off work.

Lo is rocking in his highchair in time to Devendra's 'I wanna be a little seahorse'. It's very sweet.

lionheart · 16/11/2007 13:01

Boco, I have looked at your other thread. You must be spitting pins. How did they think you would not notice?

Do you not like garlic, Franny?

Hello, Idris and MrsC.

TigerFeet · 16/11/2007 13:37

Hi all

Sorry about the depression Idris. It really can be a mahoosive pita can't it?

I have been out this morning with dd's nursery class, singing in the town centre and collecting money for Children in Need. DD and I are now sporting Pudsey eye patches painted on our faces. The neighbours must think I have flipped again. It seemed like a good idea at the time but I am feeling it now - I am still run down despite all my best efforts not to be. HEy ho. I just hope no-one from work saw me as I am signed off sick atm

Not much F&V yet today. I have mainly been eating cake from the cake stall at nursery. We are going back later for a party. More shocking food no doubt - bring it on

frothykindofadrink · 16/11/2007 14:49

word of advice for everyone

kale soup is vile

don't bother thanking me

pinkspottywellies · 16/11/2007 15:07

Idris why aren't you coming to the meet up? Btw I won't be able to play Scrabble until next Thurs. I have no food in the house. I had plain porridge for breakfast, cheese sandwich for lunch (dd had 3 sad looking cherry tomatoes) and for dinner I've managed to scrape together some things for lentil and butternut dahl (including frozen mixed veg ) Lord knows what we'll eat tomorrow!

Sorry to everyone who's not well

Boco · 16/11/2007 16:15

I'm not sure making soup out of kale would ever have occurred to me actually, but thanks, i've made a note.

Are people excited?

I'm leaving in the morning. I'm packing.

TooTicky · 16/11/2007 16:26

I hate banks. I hate them and hate them and hate them. And I hate me too because I have screwed things up even more.

TooTicky · 16/11/2007 16:30

I didn't realise you weren't coming Idris

fullmoonfiend · 16/11/2007 16:41

aw Idris, I was even going to bring some special dragon earrings i had for you to wear as a 'badge...''
Huge, healing sunny rays and hugs to you. (depression runs in my family and I am prone to SAD so I understand how difficult life must be)

Boco, I am trying not to pack as I am too nervous to do it IKWIM....

PMSL at the kale soup warning...I made some soup wth rainbow chard once. It was mud coloured and textured and tasted of railings.
