For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

she is asleep now, diagonally across the bed, so there is nowhere for me to be

can anyone help me with my rice quandary? dh made some brown rice last night and made too much so left it in a pan which I found this morning . Will it be okay if I put it in the fridge now? Our kitchen is quite chilly but I know you have to be careful with rice - if I boil the hell out of it again when I want to eat it will it still kill me?

gizmo · 15/11/2007 11:26

I would stick in a container in the fridge and use it again quite happily.

But then I am devil may care.

If you reheat thoroughly it really should be a problem.

gizmo · 15/11/2007 11:26

Shouldn't

lullabyloo · 15/11/2007 11:34

I have had a horrid morning
Dropped ds at nursery & just as i was coming out of the gate someone ran over a cat
It was very badly hurt & died 10 mins later
I went door knocking but couldn't find the owner,it's collar only said 'please dont feed' which wasn't a great help

A nice lady gave me a towel tgo wrap her in & then called RSPCA for me.They arrived 25mins later & collected her.

I then had to go shopping & managed to faint in M&S have just got a cab back ..feeling very
Having a peppermint tea

Tatties · 15/11/2007 12:01

Oh gosh Lully how awful

FrannyandZooey · 15/11/2007 13:36

Oh lully how upsetting. How are you feeling now? It must have been a big shock

womblingalong · 15/11/2007 13:39

Lully,

That sounds dreadful, you poor thing. I hope you are putting your feet up.

Franny,

MS/virus sounds dreadful. I had v v bad MS with DD, not quite so bad with DS, for DD was throwing up 7/8 times a day. The advice you've had on your other thread was good. Keep eating, esp ginger bicuits/tea etc. try and eat something as soon as you wake up, I had a snack dawer by my bed! I remember eating toast, bicuits, veg soup and endless glasses of milk for my first trimester, as that is all i could keep down.

Hope you are better soon, and fingers crossed for Sunday.

Frothy, you should be fine w the rice, so long as you heat it up to piping hot before eating.

lullabyloo · 15/11/2007 13:45

Oh ..it was just horrid really...the woman that hit her pulled over momentarily & then obviously had second thoughts & just drove off.Human beings are just so dreadful sometimes.
I wish she had been killed instantly & had not had to suffer...it was awful not being able to put her out of her misery.
A group of mothers witnessed it with me,but nobody else came & helped.Everyone wanted to know how the poor cat was though when I picked ds up.

It's been one of those kind of snowball effect weeks..one thing after another.I am wondering what is going to happen next.

Tatties · 15/11/2007 14:42

Wombling, apologies if this has already been mentioned, but on the subject of co-sleeping, have you read Three In A Bed by Deborah Jackson? I have a copy you are welcome to borrow if you are interested and haven't already read it

womblingalong · 15/11/2007 14:50

tatties, don't apologise, that sounds fab, yes please, can you bring it on Sunday, or shall i send you some money for postage?

IdrisTheDragon · 15/11/2007 15:01

Hello. DH made very yummy food for lunch. A sardine spaghetti thing with tomatoes and chilli and garlic and corgettes and general yumminess.

Tatties · 15/11/2007 15:09

Ooh Idris that sounds nice

Wombling I shall bring it on Sunday

gizmo · 15/11/2007 15:12

Idris you have just inspired in me a longing for tagliatelle with achovies and broccoli.

But I am on a staff outing for a curry tonight and can't see that order going down well in the Bengazi Grill. On the bright side I can pick up some tips to improve my curry cookery.

I'm staring at a pomengranate. What shall I do with it?

zippitippitoes · 15/11/2007 15:16

how horrible about the cat...these things do shake you up don't they

hope frans is feeling better after a big sleep

porridge is what you need or steamed pudding..ginger and lemon with treacle aka golden syrup

FrannyandZooey · 15/11/2007 15:23

I am feeling loads better thank you zippi, I have had banana, mango, cucumber and hummus (f+v has consumption been v poor, well any kind of consumption has been v poor really)

if the porridge and golden syrup thing was for me you have GOT to be joking. Together with the sardine spaghetti I am starting to understand why Filly disappeared off this thread when she got pregnant

am planning pizza and potato salad for dinner - not v 10 / 10 but I do feel I could eat it. Have magic spearmint thing to sniff which is going to mean I am completely cured. definitely.

IdrisTheDragon · 15/11/2007 15:50

Sorry Franny .

I'd have prpbably just had cheese on toast, but DH is often rathe rmore inspired.

FrannyandZooey · 15/11/2007 15:53

LOL we can all do without that kind of inspiration don't you think?

FrayedKnot · 15/11/2007 16:30

LL how sad about the cat and person not stopping and stuff

Glad you are feeling a bit better Franny. I think if you have MS you have to eat what you fancy and not worry too much about your diet, otherwise you kep trying to eat things you don;t want, and it's horrible. I'm pretty sure if you follow your instincts you will be OK...obviously there is some really important thing in pizza and potatoes that your body needs today..maybe just calories!

DS is having one of those days when nothing I do is right.

We cooked cake, and afterwards he said I hadn;t let him do anything (except crack teh eggs, tip the ingredients in, stir, lick the bowl, etc).

WE did junk modelling and he complained all the way through.

He drew for about 2 minutes and then gave up.

And so on. Now I have abandoned him for MN and he seems to be faring better

TooTicky · 15/11/2007 16:33

Oh LL, how horrid! I saw somebody deliberately run over a pigeon a while back. Luckily it died fairly quickly. But I felt so shaken up afterwards.

TooTicky · 15/11/2007 16:37

So now we mustn't discuss food any more because of Franny and we shall have to talk nonsense instead. How will we cope?

TooTicky · 15/11/2007 16:41

I have just written a list of Things To Do. 100x will be so proud of me.

Dd2 is doing jigsaws in our postage stamp-sized kitchen, just in front of the cooker.

ahundredtimes · 15/11/2007 16:42

I had NO IDEA there were witnesses TooT.

TooTicky · 15/11/2007 16:43

What?

ahundredtimes · 15/11/2007 16:44

To the pigeon incident.

OP posts:
gizmo · 15/11/2007 16:45

Aha!

Was that a confession, 100x?

You know you won't be able to get rid of them all by running them over, right?
