For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh!

You're all sick!

I do hope this is not related to excessive consumption of vegetables, hmmmm?

Franny I'm not going to tell you anything about the foodstuffs that helped me when I was sick. They were universally vile and comprehensively unhealthy - probably illegal for pregnant women in a number of countries. Instead, I am wishing you many happy deliveries of boiled potatoes and orange juice.

Now, to take your mind off things, what do you know about veg curry? I have started one of those vegetable curries that seem like a good idea after a glass of red wine, only to discover I have run out of cumin, coriander and bayleaves. So my dream of a pseudo-korma is dying rather. I do have some chilli, but that's not much help because I'm hoping to recycle some of the pseudo korma for DS2 tomorrow. So commercial 'mild' curry powder mix it is. Which would be fine, but the potatoes, sweet potatoes and cauliflower are all cooking at different rates.

Sigh. It's going to be horrible. On the bright side, DH is away this evening, so I don't have to give him any further reasons to be fearful when I announce brightly that I have cooked something 'experimental'.

Boco · 14/11/2007 21:34

Lully! frost fair wasn't exactly crap, just too busy and not as much to do as we thought.

And lucy irving was very very nice, my uncle thought so - she just went of to have the adventure, no disappointments there, all fine.

Carry on.

gizmo · 14/11/2007 21:40

It gets worse.

I have now managed to burn the veg (while mistyping previous post) and have discovered that I have less than a child size portion of rice available.

FrayedKnot · 14/11/2007 22:05

Gizmo that sort of thing often happens chez FK. I end up with three saucepans of different rice cooking because I only have two teaspoons of basmati, one of wild and so on, all requiring different cooking times

Am also glad of a very stoical DH when faced with a "creation".

Is anyone else finding it hard to explain to people in RL what they are up to this weekend ?

zippitippitoes · 14/11/2007 22:08

er you start the longest one first and then just drop the others int SAME PAN at the correct time

gizmo · 14/11/2007 22:09

Thank goodness, FK. I am secretly in awe of 10/10ers' kitchen skills - you always seem to be eating exotic sounding things that require sophisticated handling.

Meanwhile I am now eating Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie from the carton. Curry turned out adequate if a little brown around the edges.

When you do tell people, what do they say?

TooTicky · 14/11/2007 22:10

Ah Zippi, a woman after my own heart

gizmo · 14/11/2007 22:10

About the meet up, I mean

TooTicky · 14/11/2007 22:10

I am eating stewed apples. Yum.

gizmo · 14/11/2007 22:12

Y'see, Zippee I meant to do that but then I saw a potato lurking in the veg cupboard after I'd started the onion and, being as I was in a reckless mood, I slung it in. And it all went a bit, well, Pete Tong from there.

zippitippitoes · 14/11/2007 22:12

i have eaten a whole caulifoer with grated cheddar again lol

zippitippitoes · 14/11/2007 22:13

no one has told me yet if that is one portion or ten

gizmo · 14/11/2007 22:14

Wow.

Was it bigger than your head?

zippitippitoes · 14/11/2007 22:14

lol no a small one

zippitippitoes · 14/11/2007 22:15

unlike my head

gizmo · 14/11/2007 22:16

Probably only 3 portions then

So does the whole brassica family do it for you or is it just cauliflower?

zippitippitoes · 14/11/2007 22:22

well i did gt tempted by the fresh youhng broccoli stalks from a foreign place

gizmo · 14/11/2007 22:26

Ah. A holiday romance?

zippitippitoes · 14/11/2007 22:30

in my dreams lol

womblingalong · 14/11/2007 22:54

Hello

Oh no Franny, I have got everything crossed in the hope you will be feeling better by Sunday!

Thanks for sharing re co-sleeping, everyone. I agree that we need to watch for overheating. DS is 7 months, and has been ending up in our bed from the very beginning. I think I will try him in a sleepsuit or pj's under our light duvet & sheet.

Possumm, he always ends up tucked up under my arm too!

Frothy, sorry you were so sleep deprived, me too, but co-sleeping means ds is more settled, and i get more sleep, and don't get cold having to get out of bed all night!

AitchTwoOh · 15/11/2007 02:10

hope you feel better soon, Frank...

FrannyandZooey · 15/11/2007 09:20

Thanks Aitch (and everyone else)

will try not to whinge so much today whatever happens. Slept about 10 hours again last night which set me up for a good day last time it happened. Fingers crossed.

And I am eating a mango. Can't be bad.

Wombling sorry I didn't chip in with the co-sleeping - ask me on Sunday if we get a chance. We also co-slept from day 1 as ds whimpered every time we put him down, and went to sleep every time we picked him up. Dp said "well let's just stop putting him in that basket thing and hold him, it's obviously what he wants." I was like NO you are not ALLOWED to do that

frothykindofadrink · 15/11/2007 09:55

glad you're getting some sleep franny

I didn't

dd2 (2.10) was in bed all night with us with a boiling temperature. She kept waking up and asking for things "pink milk" "a fruit bar" "my grandma" etc etc and then wailing when she couldn't have them

so now she is off nursery this morning so I can't have a sleep to catch up as my mum is busy this morning - this will be the longest I have looked after her for nearly 2 months and I am already tired at the thought of it

Tatties · 15/11/2007 09:56

LOL Franny I was just the same with the co-sleeping thing and picking ds up. Dp was much more instinctive, whereas I wanted to do things 'right'... he kept telling me, "but ds hasn't read the book!" I worked it out in the end though I think

Tatties · 15/11/2007 10:08

Oh poor dd frothy and you
