Embarrassing problem

Name changed for obvious reasons Blush

For the past month or so I've had diarrhoea on and off as well as left sided abdominal pain. Embarrassingly I have actually soiled myself twice while out walking & unable to find a toilet. It's got to the stage where I'm constantly uncomfortable and worried about being able to find a toilet if I need one.

I've phoned my gp & have blood & other tests booked for a couple of weeks time but im just really scared. Im early 50s.

Good luck for tomorrow OP. I had a colonoscopy last month and prep was definitely the worst bit. Just a note - when it says then you will be passing a clear liquid - note this this isn’t clear as in water (it’s yellow) it just means it won’t have anything solid in it - I panicked in the morning as I was still “going” an hour before I left to go the hospital.
Also be prepared to let rip afterward, thankfully they left me on my own so I could do it in privacy 🤣
Keep us updated Flowers

Good luck OP. I had a colonoscopy with no sedative (had no-one to take me home after) and it was very uncomfortable but over fairly quickly. I was glad not to feel too woozy.

Nannewnannew · 18/05/2021 07:16

@Bumtrouble just to say Good Luck today and you receive good news.
Re the sedative, you won’t feel woozy afterwards, it’s a temporary sedative not a general anaesthetic, so nothing to worry about. 🌻💐🌺

Sagaris · 18/05/2021 07:24

Good luck for today - it will be over before you know it! Flowers

MissSmiley · 18/05/2021 11:18

@Bumtrouble good luck for today, they do usually give you the results afterwards, hopefully you'll be feeling better soon

halfhope · 18/05/2021 14:51

Hope it's going okay Bum.

Bumtrouble · 18/05/2021 15:52

Just home. I asked for a sedative & they gave me gas & air but it was ok. I have diverticulitis, so painful but not serious. They also took 10 biopsies which I have to wait 2 weeks for results. They've been very thorough so I feel reassured. A bit tender & tired now

Oh well done Bum. You look after yourself and take it easy.

101namesforme · 18/05/2021 16:05

That’s great that is went ok. Diverticulitis is clearly something you don’t want but it is better than feared so I am relieved for you.

Elephanttrunk · 18/05/2021 16:07

Great to see you got a diagnosis. Rest up and I hope you get some treatment to help with your symptoms soon Smile

Sagaris · 18/05/2021 16:11

That's brilliant news, hope the biopsies come back ok. My mum has diverticulitis and manages very well - she's 90!

WingingItSince1973 · 18/05/2021 16:24

That's such good news. Not good in a sense that you have diverticulitis but that it's not more sinister. Have been thinking about you. Xxx

StressMagnet · 18/05/2021 16:37

You must be relieved to finally have some answers. Not great news but not terrible either and you can get a plan to manage it and wave bye bye to the loo 🙂

KaptainKaveman · 18/05/2021 17:11

That is good news @bum. A dear friend of mine has diverticulitis - it was diagnosed following a lot of illness and investigations like you. Now that she knows what it is she manages it very well and can deal with the odd flare up with suitable medication Flowers.

Workinghardeveryday · 18/05/2021 18:32

@Bumtrouble so pleased you were okay and got a diagnosis. Rest up and take it easy for a while xx
