Embarrassing problem

Bumtrouble · 07/03/2021 18:12

Name changed for obvious reasons Blush

For the past month or so I've had diarrhoea on and off as well as left sided abdominal pain. Embarrassingly I have actually soiled myself twice while out walking & unable to find a toilet. It's got to the stage where I'm constantly uncomfortable and worried about being able to find a toilet if I need one.

I've phoned my gp & have blood & other tests booked for a couple of weeks time but im just really scared. Im early 50s.

xxxJess123xxx · 23/04/2021 11:35

Any results? Thinking of u xx

gettingalife · 23/04/2021 20:09

Thinking of you. The waiting is the worst. Have you had any results yet?

lunar1 · 23/04/2021 20:13

I has the same feeling with the dye, such an odd feeling! I hope you get the results quickly.

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 23/04/2021 20:25

How are you doing?💐

I'm a bear that's shat in the woods too, more than once. And at home too. It's horrible, but it can't be helped snd if we were all more open about these things we'd all feel less embarrassed!

Thst dye that makes you feel like you're setting yourself is horrible

Though it's marginally less horrible than actually wetting yourself on a gurney where you've been filled with liquid to have tests, and then been kept waiting hours! I may speak from
Experience!!!

Hope you get your results soon.

Orchidflower1 · 24/04/2021 05:54

How are you doing @Bumtrouble have you been told what the next steps are. Thinking if you. 🌸

Cuntryhouse · 24/04/2021 06:02

Hope you're ok Flowers

mcdog · 24/04/2021 07:36

I've had that dye as well, it totally makes you feel like you've wet yourself Smile

I really hope you're ok and get some answers soon OP.

Sorry things have not been great op. Please don’t apologise for not updating - I just wondered how you were doing. I hope the colonoscopy give you answers and next steps. Thinking of you. 🌸

Workinghardeveryday · 29/04/2021 09:14

@Bumtrouble
It’s good you’re getting a colonoscopy and things are moving forward and you can get some answers.

I hope you feel better really soon. If you have any questions about colonoscopy’s I have had loads so could help with any questions you may have xx

Bumtrouble · 29/04/2021 12:50

Thank you. It says they discuss your results with you on the day, is that true?

idontlikealdi · 29/04/2021 13:36

A colonoscopy is the next stage in investigation it's good they're doing it.

Workinghardeveryday · 29/04/2021 18:22

Yes they have with me every time and explained what they found.
Have they offered you a sedative? Take it and ask for maximum amount. It’s great stuff and makes the whole experience much easier, your still awake bit just so content and peaceful. They often give half amount so ask for full, I do every time.
You will be fine op, it’s the thought of it is worse than the actual thing! Especially if you take the drugs xx

Workinghardeveryday · 29/04/2021 18:27

Also drugs don’t last long so you’re not all drowsy after only briefly then fine - can’t drive for 24 hours etc. The whole thing doesn’t take that long, again if you have the drugs it goes in a flash and all of a sudden it’s over.
I sound like a dealer lol, but I just think it’s helped so much for mine.
Any idea on a date yet? I usually ring the dept/ward to speed up and make my apt there and then instead of waiting for it to be processed their end

Orchidflower1 · 05/05/2021 09:38

Morning @Bumtrouble how are things with you? I have been thinking of you.

igetitallwrong · 05/05/2021 15:04

@Bumtrouble

try googling left sided ulcerative colitis

you can get some salfalk granules that you put on your tongue - they work a treat in stopping attacks

Bumtrouble · 05/05/2021 20:35

Feeling very unwell today. Can't be too far from my bathroom 😳 Got my appointment for 18th so not too long to wait. Given the pressure on the NHS that's not bad I think

feelinggeriatric · 05/05/2021 20:42

Just posting to say I'm going through scary assessments for something also so I understand how you feel. Diverticulitis is very common btw and I know several people with it - but they all had to have the same scary tests as you to rule out anything more sinister - they start with worst case scenario and work down from there so a cancer referral in itself isn't necessarily as bad as it sounds (I'm telling myself this also !) xxx

Bumtrouble · 05/05/2021 22:41

@feelinggeriatric you have my sympathy. I'm trying not to think the worst but it's hard when you're feeling rotten. To anyone else going through tests or struggling feeling unwell Flowers

Colonoscopy is tomorrow. I'm currently taking the prep. Never realised how awful this part would be. I've got a few days off so I'm just at home but on my 3rd change of clothes already Blush I was sick this morning after breakfast so there can't be much in there!!
