Embarrassing problem

Name changed for obvious reasons Blush

For the past month or so I've had diarrhoea on and off as well as left sided abdominal pain. Embarrassingly I have actually soiled myself twice while out walking & unable to find a toilet. It's got to the stage where I'm constantly uncomfortable and worried about being able to find a toilet if I need one.

I've phoned my gp & have blood & other tests booked for a couple of weeks time but im just really scared. Im early 50s.

I think I'm just all out of sorts tonight & with no-one to talk to it's just going round in my head. I'm feeling exhausted so I know I need to eat well for energy levels but just don't fancy anything. I've had a banana for now

Hi OP
Usually some on MN to talk to.
I might have missed things but have you kept a food diary or tried eliminating things?
Is there anything that usually distracts you? Seen any good TV lately?
I'm just trying Big Little Lies, which is interesting.

GransKitchen · 22/03/2021 21:01

Hi @Bumtrouble there is always someone around in MN to talk to. Like other posts have said there are so many other things it could be and 90% of cancer referrals turn out not to be cancer, they will want to rule this out first

MrsPnut · 22/03/2021 21:03

@Bumtrouble When I don’t feel like eating then I usually try yoghurt or toast because they are soothing on the stomach. Bananas are also good.

Bumtrouble · 22/03/2021 21:06

Thanks for the reassurance everyone

As @FlatEarthling said there is normally someone knocking around on MN. Keep posting on your thread if you’d like to just chat to keep your mind busy.

Have they given a date for the investigations?

What about something like complan for sustenance at the moment?

Hope you sleep well.💐

Orchidflower1 · 23/03/2021 15:15

How are holding up @Bumtrouble 💐

Bumtrouble · 23/03/2021 15:49

I'm ok today thanks. Trying to keep busy to keep my mind off things. Been out with my dog too, fresh air always helps! I've had some toast & a banana. Also got my covid vaccine letter, it's next Tuesday Smile

Glad you felt up to the walk. 👏🏻👏🏻 For the vaccine.

joystir59 · 23/03/2021 18:13

Have you seen your GP? Any news? Hope you are managing to hold up through the anxiety and have someone in RL to talk with

Bumtrouble · 23/03/2021 18:29

I saw my gp yesterday after the results of tests last week showed high levels of inflammation. I've been fast tracked for a 2 week appointment so just waiting....

Update, had a phone call today arranging a telephone consultation with a gastro consultant on Sunday. Not sure what more I can tell him than what my GP has said but we'll see. Still no appetite so sticking to toast, bananas & yoghurt.

That's good, fairly fast.
Start a list of questions you want to ask.

Orchidflower1 · 25/03/2021 20:27

That’s good that they can see you then. I agree with pp- start a list on your phone if questions to ask and add to it over the next few days.

snoresnoresnorezz · 28/03/2021 17:35

How was the phone all op? Thinking of you today

Orchidflower1 · 28/03/2021 18:02

@Bumtrouble hope your appointment was informative. How are you doing?

FlatEarthling · 28/03/2021 20:36

Hope you were ok today and got some answers

Bumtrouble · 28/03/2021 21:40

Phone appointment was very short. They want to do a scan, hopefully this week. I'm ok. Thanks for the messages.

OP posts:
Orchidflower1 · 31/03/2021 11:06

Morning @Bumtrouble have you got your scan appointment through?

ursuslemonade · 01/04/2021 20:30

Op have you had your scan?

Bumtrouble · 04/04/2021 10:05

No I haven't had it yet. Had a terrible week as I had my covid vaccine & was unwell for 3 days. If I don't hear on Monday I have a number to phone to speak to someone at the hospital about it

OP posts:
Bumtrouble · 12/04/2021 08:03

Scan is today. It says 'with contrast' so they'll be injecting a dye into me to see things more clearly. I'm dreading it but at the same time I want to know what's wrong with me
