HPV and high grade (severe) dyskarosis

Hello all

I've lurked on mumsnet for over a year now but not been brave enough to post. However I'm hoping someone can calm me down about a recent diagnosis.

As the title says I've had my smear test back with hpv and high-grade (severe) dyskarosis. And honestly it feels like I've been handed a death sentence.
I don't have my colposcopy till next week and I've been googling (probably very unwise) and all I can do is cry. I've also got a 4 month old to take care of and frankly I'm barely functioning.

I'm not scared of the colposcopy more the results.

I'm also beating myself up that 2 years ago I didn't push for further checks when I had bleeding after sex, the consultant said it was cervical erosion. But now my head is all in a spin.

I do have a husband but he's as worried as me, and now also things I put down as due to having a huge baby is bad back etc is actually cancer or something.

I'm sorry if this is so jumbled, my biggest fear is death and this is hitting me hard, despite what the letter says about almost all cases not cancer, it doesn't mean it won't be.

But what if cancer was there the whole time....😭and they missed it at the last colposcopy

Just clicked on this as saw the title and I am going through similar. To emphasise I am an anxious person who overthinks things, I had my smear results come back as borderline, then went for colposcopy and the results from that came back as CIN2/3, have LLETZ booked for late January. However, I am not remotely bothered or scared by this as it’s NOT cancer, I’m actually quite reassured that the results came back as it confirms it’s NOT CANCER…barely give it a thought day to day. And I have mild health anxiety, so don’t worry!

I think my fear is based on the fact I had clear margins biopsy colposcopy cinn1 only 6 months ago and now its come back servere I think that's my fear that they've missed something and it's progressed to cancer.....ive seen many women say there smear was high grade servere and then they had cancer...😭..thats my fear...ive seen many stories of the llefz working first time for people I havnt seen any women who have had actaully worse results after lletz like me 😭

It’s literally physically impossible for cancer to develop that quickly.

No i mean there could of been cancer there the whole time small at my previous lletz and now its only just showing at cin 3 😭

Babe it doesn’t work like that. The LLETZ is not going to miss cancer. Please seek help for your health anxiety x

It will if its missed a spot that obv has come back as cin 3 or servere high grade

Did they take a biopsy from you at the colposcopy

@Bex4567 is that question for me? If so, yes they did take a biopsy at my colposcopy

smear - “borderline changes”.
biopsy - clear. Just hpv.
The biopsy is more reliable than the smear!

Thankyou for your reply...I was happy when my biopsy come back cin 1 clear margins....now next smear worse 😭so I can only think the worse that's all

It might miss it if it's early stages...and very small 😭and now its got worse and progressed

Appointment tomorrow im beside myself with worry there going to look and say I have cancer 😭😭😭

I meant the nurse may have missed a spot on my cervix that was high grade and didn't remove it on the lletz

Hi @Bex4567. Looking at your posts, I fear your health anxiety is more of a concern. Have you spoken to a doctor about how anxious you are about this? You have been told it's CIN3, not cancer - it's not cancer. They would not 'miss a spot' on your cervix as you have said before.

I know it's extremely worrying, I have the same result as you and I'm worried as well - but it's not healthy if you're not eating, sleeping etc. that concerns me more! Put your faith in the doctors, they are simply preventing something that 'might' happen years in the future.

Yes I have upped my medication at the moment....i havnt been told its cin 3 ..my smear has come back high grade servere so suggests cin3 or worse 😭....after a lletz 6 months previously biopsy cin 1 😭

I'm glad you're getting some help!

I don't think cervical cancer can develop in just 6 months. They would have seen it on your first biopsy. It will likely be Cin2/3 or could even still be low grade after they have checked during the colposcopy. I am the same as you, mine was Cin1 over a year ago and now CIN3 (after pregnancy). Hopefully after tomorrow all will be removed and you can carry on as normal - keep us updated for tomorrow x

I dont think it can either im just worried they missed it on the last colposcopy a different spot to the part they removed and now its got worse and could be cancer 😭

No 6 month ago was colposcopy clinic....before that docter done by nurse in gp surgery and smear before that same in go surgery so not at the colposcopy place all them times

So I've been ...they said it was back but zapped it all again and hopefully got it all....there was a bit of my vaginal wall but she zapped that aswell...took 2 biopsys as I asked her too do the cervix aswell....I asked if I had cancer she said no I don't.....she said she will write to be in a few weeks with the results 😭they woukdnt just say its not cancer to make me feel better woukd they as I wad a mess ?

Glad they have taken them away. No they definitely, 100% would not say that if it was just to make you feel better!!! It's not cancer ❤️

Have to wait till my biopsy results 😭and see i guess. I hope they got it all this time and I can clear this hpv ..she did say as I was worrying so much so woukd send me an appointment to go back and see her so that was nice of her...im now going to worry im going to get vaginal cancer as there was a small patch on my wall 😭
