For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh yes, Hunker, we pun with ease here.

Fireworks were quite good. I liked them. DS2 said 'this is amazing I love them' and then took a breath and said 'this is the worst evening of my life, I want to go home' then he ate a chip and said 'wow, that one was beautiful' then he said, 'fireworks are boring, let's go now.'

I am going to clean today. DD met the mouse this morning, they waved at each other. I haven't done anything about the mouse, and now we've seen Rataouille, dc's think we should leave it alone, in the vain hope that perhaps it might whisk up an omlette or open a restaurant or something?

Hope doctor was okay Franny. I don't think they do much do they, except spin that wheel about.

Mmmm plums on porridge sounds lovely

I am having a toasted bagel with cheese for breakfast but I have a lot of satsumas on my desk for grazing on through the day.

I may well pop out at lunchtime and get a pomegranite (sp?), would that be any good on porridge I wonder?

lionheart · 06/11/2007 09:31

Hello.

I like the use of asterisks for place names, it makes it look like a risque nineteenth century novel.

lullabyloo · 06/11/2007 09:42

morning
hope the docs is going well franny...everyone is right....first appointmets are fairly non eventful if I remember rightly

have had brown rice porridge with apple, pear & cinnamon compote
carrot,apple & ginger juice

pinkspottywellies · 06/11/2007 09:44

ooh yes dd and i had pomegranate in our porridge last week. very yummy. pls excuse typing dd is sitting on my lap and playing with the phone so i'm trying to make sure she doesn't ring anyone!

zippitippitoes · 06/11/2007 09:52

just a quick hello, I am being crap, but if i don't say hello I shall feel even worse coming to meet you all..hoep franny isn't going to the doctors for a bad reason and mrs c enjoys disney..and everyone else is still having nice food and nice children things

TigerFeet · 06/11/2007 09:53

my dd does that pinkspottywellies - we got a call back from the lovely 999 people once when she rang them and then put the phone down They were really good about it, apparently it happens all the time

I wailed like a waily thing at my first GP appointment. I think I was in shock at the enormity of what was going on. GP asked my LMP date, twirled the thingy, gave me a due date and then told me to make an appointment with the midwife. I was in there precisely 3 minutes.

hunkermunker · 06/11/2007 10:08

OK, have got pomegranate, blueberry and acai smoothie.

Does that count as two?

littlerach · 06/11/2007 10:41

I have the world's largest pomegranate in the fruit bowl.
It is sooo huuuge that hardly anything else fits in.

Dh has made me promist not to eat it without him. He too has fond memories of pins and seeds.

100, we saw ratatoulle and now have the same problem, especially with dd2. We have a family of mice in our walls, and thought we'd shifted them with one of htose sonic things. Until the clocks went back. Now we hear them scuttling baout. And dd2 likes it.

And I mentioned having ratatouille at the weekend and she just stared. And shook her head.

i htink I may start listing dd2's F7V intake, as hers is superior to mine.

lullabyloo · 06/11/2007 10:44

my pomegranates are beastly this week
not all red & jewel like & juicy.....all pale pink/greyish and yuck

lullabyloo · 06/11/2007 10:46

hunker......ummmmmmm....i'm sure it does
the boss will be back shortly ,I'm sure she'll know

hunkermunker · 06/11/2007 11:02

(It's an Innocent one though...maybe I should haul ass off this thread?)

EachPeachPearMum · 06/11/2007 11:31

Gawd.... another genius thread title... I do hope someone is making a note of all these

lullabyloo · 06/11/2007 11:41

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hunker
stay, stay...you are doing fabulously

big salad for lunch...fruit for afters....you'll be doing splendidly

(handcuffs new recruit to the chair till franny gets back)

lullabyloo · 06/11/2007 11:42

p.s.......your lo's are rather gorgeous

TooTicky · 06/11/2007 11:45

Didn't Hunker compliment my title?

Then of course she must stay.

hunkermunker · 06/11/2007 11:47

Aw, LL, thank you! And thank you! DS1 struggles with 5 a day DS2 would eat F&V till he popped.

Am probably having jacket spud, cheese, coleslaw and salad for lunch. Is cheese frowned upon? I'm having it anyway

Will see if I can find some clementines for after lunch. There were none in Tesco earlier, but they may have some now. I may have eaten several party rings as well as had the smoothie. Oh, dear, I'm not doing so well, am I?!

I like this thread

TooTicky · 06/11/2007 11:49

I frown on cheese but I think I'm the only one.

TooTicky · 06/11/2007 11:52

And it tends to get in my eyebrows if I frown too hard.

lullabyloo · 06/11/2007 11:56

cheese is certainly not frowned upon

You are doing very well indeed me thinks (we'll ignore the party rings for today)

generally if you can cram the fruit in at breakfast ,have a salad at lunch etc...it's not so hard to squeeze the 10 in.

it's funny how children, siblings are so wildly different
I used to look after a brother & sister, weaned them in exactly the same way with a huge variety of foods. He would eat all fruit & veg, hated bread, pasta etc.She wouldn't look at any fruit & only select veg & lived off protein & carbs...there's no telling

ds is just a 3.3 yr old dustbin who eats like a true 10/10 er but aspires to being a grown up man so he can drink stinky beer & eat crisps & pizza ......dh is such a good role model

TooTicky · 06/11/2007 12:00
lullabyloo · 06/11/2007 12:05

Toot..you are a hoot

TooTicky · 06/11/2007 12:14
TigerFeet · 06/11/2007 12:20

Cheesy eyebrows?

Perhaps you should name change to TootICKY

Anyway, only F&V detritus is allowed in eyebrows on this thread [stern]

hunkermunker · 06/11/2007 12:21

I have a feeling my presence on this thread is lowering the tone.

I'm staying though
