For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I'm going for a bath and then bed too. I am supposed to be going out tomorrow night

I don;t really fancy it but think I ought to have an early night in case I do decide to go...

Sorry Franny, it isn;t a conspiracy, really

FrannyandZooey · 09/11/2007 22:02

I didn't even catch up on the young men gossip, I just walked in to find 100 with her tongue down HC's throat and everyone laughing at my hat

it will NOT DO

The questions in this one are dull. As are the answers.

pinkspottywellies · 09/11/2007 22:14

Hi Idris! Just played my move!

IdrisTheDragon · 09/11/2007 22:17

Hello psw .

As you can see, I am an amazing a slightly below average scrabble player.

IdrisTheDragon · 09/11/2007 22:19

And have made another move .

pinkspottywellies · 09/11/2007 22:38

I'm normally shite average. I'm just getting lucky!

pinkspottywellies · 09/11/2007 23:42

I'm waiting to take dd's birthday cake out of the oven and then I can put the cheese straws and apple puffs in. Has everyone gone to bed? This time last year I was just going into labour!

pinkspottywellies · 09/11/2007 23:47

I'va made lavender biscuits for the birthday tea. They're better than last time - I cooked them for a bit longer.

pinkspottywellies · 09/11/2007 23:55

You lot have got no stamina. Is noone else baking in the kitchen with Mika playing on the laptop at nearly midnight?

FrannyandZooey · 10/11/2007 08:19

Good morning

have eaten pineapple, grapes and raisins

have got loooong day ahead, please send me strengthening fruity vibes

OP posts:
lionheart · 10/11/2007 08:36

Fruity vibes over to you. Are you partying?

I have to go to science place and look alert when I want to just go to bed with my man-cold.

FrannyandZooey · 10/11/2007 09:09

wear dark glasses (claim an eye infection or something) and then looking alert bit is at least ruled out

yes sports this morning then party in afternoon. Then gym at teatime which should in theory be just sitting talking but gizmo has scared me saying they will want me to move and stuff

lullabyloo · 10/11/2007 10:06

oh lordy Franny....just reading that makes me feel exhausted.

Ds & I are painting pottery today at the pottery cafe & then going to a fireworks party at tea time.

i bought a whole lot of brio bits on ebay yesterday for bargain prices (for ds for christmas)& was very pleased indeed.......Now the old bag of a seller is trying to diddle me with a ridiculous postage charge & insurance....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Boco · 10/11/2007 10:17

How annoying Lully, i'm sure there are no vegger-diddlers though.

Franny that does sound full on. Have you reached the crushing exhaustion phase or are you still doing the blooming?

I just found out that my grandpa was on TV last night being interviewed in a documentary about japanese prisoners of war, and i didn't realise. He read a poem too. It was filmed last year and he's the only one from the three who is still alive. Hope it's repeated. He's so lovely.

Another rough night with dd2 and her croup. did the steam and kettle and towels etc. Then dp elbowed me in the head and we had an argument because one strike and he sleeps on the floor, but he claims i hit his elbow with my head So he wouldn't budge, and the injustice kept me awake. It still hurts today, no way did i slam my head into his elbow with such force! He's gone now. I was supposed to be taking dd to ballet but when my mum arrived to give us a lift i'd not managed to get dressed and she took pity and has gone with a map and both children. I have a whole hour of silence.

lullabyloo · 10/11/2007 10:20

course not Boco ....should have added a

gizmo · 10/11/2007 10:21

Ohhh, sorry to be scary - I missed your last post about regular attendance. Don't take any notice of me, honestly - the last time I set foot in a gym was about 3 years ago when I scared the guy trying to assess me with my freakily slow heartbeat .

If you're a regular, then I can't imagine they're going to want to do much apart from discuss what you want to do.

What do you want to do, anyway, fitness-wise, while pregnant?

lullabyloo · 10/11/2007 10:22

Gawd....sounds like a rough night

what a shame about missing your Grandad...I so hope it gets repeated for you Boco
My Uncle could never talk about his experiences

gizmo · 10/11/2007 10:23

Oooh, Boco, you know what you could do?

You could go to bed.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............

Boco · 10/11/2007 10:28

I would go to bed if my house didn't look like it'd been turned over by a gang of henchmen searching for the missing file. I'm just gathering myself in preparation for whirlwind tidying.

Gizmo i'm glad you've joined us in veg corner, you're nice. I don't know you very well, are you one of the guarding privacy carefully types, or will you tell me where you live and what you do and about your dcs and stuff? I'm very nosy that's all.

gizmo · 10/11/2007 10:37

Ummm, I try to keep a division between my RL persona and mumsnet. Apparently that makes me part of the older generation of internet users, according to some blokey on the radio last night

But I'm not very good at it. So a casual search of mumsnet will reveal the following, which I will summarise for you so you don't have to arse with stalkerish activity:

  1. I live in Cambridge, which I love.
  2. I have two DS, 5 and 13 months
  3. I work as a marketing manager in a technology company
  4. Mr Gizmo is an engineer/company director/full time loverman
  5. Likes: my husband, my children, running, drinking cider, obscure words with wonderful sounds ( I recommend the splendiferous wordslustitude ), the hash house harriers, the internet, radio 4, caitlin moran etc, etc

I think that's blown my cover . Now I have to go and take cake to a friend with a newborn, but really can't you go to bed? Easier to tidy the house with children in tow than sleep, I would think.

TooTicky · 10/11/2007 10:38

Boco, sorry you had such a rough night. Why don't you wear a spiky helmet to bed?

Ds1 had major sick and poo incidents in the night. Thank goodness dp dealt with it (he was up working anyway) but there is significant extra washing so I'm hoping the weather holds. Also because I am piddling about with catalogues today in the great outdoors.

I would have caught up on my lost sleep quite well if dd2 had not decided to get up at half past six and start bringing cold books into the bed.

ahundredtimes · 10/11/2007 10:40

Gizmo - even if you are recoiling in shock at Boco's questions, they will work on you and before you know it they'll know EVERYTHING.

Right, another dd friend here now. This seems to be going alright. DS1 rang up at 10.30 last night and shouted down the phone 'My bottom is itching, I think I have threadworms' and though I tried to sound sympathetic I also wanted to say 'sshh, she'll hear you.' Anyway, she had medicine. He ran in the door about half an hour ago for his gum shield, and then back out again.

F&Z - am sending you strong fibrous fruity vibes for the day ahead. You could just sit down at the gym and cross your arms and say 'Oh no, I'm only here to TALK.'

Boco · 10/11/2007 10:41

Wow usually when i ask people too many questions they politely ignore them for weeks, that's just marvelous

I'm drinking coffee in my pyjamas, that's still pretty good. My bloody brother is supposed to be coming and i was so looking forward to it, but now i think he can't so the tidying has become less urgent.

ahundredtimes · 10/11/2007 10:42

Boco - get a big bag and throw everything in there, and put it under the stairs or the bed or somewhere. Tell yourself you'll sort it out later, and then in a month if you haven't missed any of it you can just chuck it out.

That's my top household tip.
