For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes sorry, realized I was burning soemthing in the oven mid-post

We have very squishy, caramelized baked plums for supper

womblingalong · 08/11/2007 17:09

FK,

Thanks yes DD is in Nursery, and DS is with PIL, but only till Jan, when he will go to nursery too.

It would be easier, for me, if they were both at nursery, but my boy feels so little to me, and if DH or I can't be with him, the PIL are the next best thing, they are so good with him. So I think what's most important, is what's best for him.

Update on the complicated arrangements, my wonderful PIL's have said that they are going to bring him to me, at work every day, so I can get home early enough to have a life, and see DD. I am so grateful to them, they are stars. FIL said: "you just can't do it Wombling, it's ridiculous and stressful to have a +12hour day if you don't need to, and it's much easier for us to do the travelling, not you" bless him.

zippitippitoes · 08/11/2007 17:14

thanks for the you have said the right thing messages..slightly unrewarding that she has learned from me that she will never do what i did

and has been telling me this for the last about 8 years since i split with her dad and now she can add dp to her list of mums gross errors in life of which there are a zillion

she will also never build a house, or renovate one, or i suspect have more than one child if she has that many..I don't think i've ever actually done anything that she isn't planning to avoid

Boco · 08/11/2007 17:14

Wombling your PILs sound wonderful, that's lovely of them. Do you work full time? Is there anyway your PILs can keep having your ds after January or does that make it more complicated.

It must be a horrible feeling to be missing them and you must be so tired, poor you

womblingalong · 08/11/2007 17:32

Kids, zippi, honestly, who'd have em, you bust a gut for them, and then they tell you that your choices were crap. I am so sure underneath all the dc bluster, she knows that she is who she is; (sucessful, talented and motivated); because of you.

ahundredtimes · 08/11/2007 17:33

I agree. And no dd worth her salt would say 'Mum, I want to be just like you' - would they? Surely not. I never did, I wanted to do the polar opposite of everything my mother did and was.

However, slowly, over time. . . .

womblingalong · 08/11/2007 17:36

Boco,

Thanks, they are lovely, unfortunately they go travelling for 3 months every year,ad this year it starts Jan. So we have to go to nursery, I keep telling myself it is only 3 days a week, and it will be fine, and I am sure it won't scar him, but I would prefer to be with him really, and DD, before she starts at school.

I am a bit tired, esp with my voracious DS feeding through the night and being up at 6 latest, every morning.

How is mysery rash, and are you coping with being the crying shoulder OK? How is DP at the moment?

Boco · 08/11/2007 17:51

Oh that's a shame about pils going away - i hope it gets easier, i'm sure it will. Do you enjoy your job?

Rash is ok today, antihistamines and lotion are helping. Dp isn't terrible but isn't well either, - but he went to gp yesterday and upped medication so maybe that'll help.

I saw my new friend today, haven't seen her since i got very drunk at the local pub, and she wasn't drinking and i have had this awful feeling she might have realised i'm a twit. But she was lovely and suggested we go out for lunch tomorrow, so i'm looking forward to that.

pinkspottywellies · 08/11/2007 18:48

Eek, I was catching up and then sil rang and reminded me I'm meant to be having my hair cut!

Avi, yes please can I borrow the signing book. I do some when I remember ie drink, nappy, dog, duck (various farm animals not relevant to everyday life!) but a book would be good.

Franny, I'm working tomorrow but I'm not 'going back to work' as such. I have a very cushy sessional job where I can work when I like and get paid quite well because of the ad hoc nature of it So I do a few hours/days here and there when family (or friend tomorrow) or dh can have dd. Very lucky. Tomorrow is just a meeting/training day and I get a nice lunch

Hunker, I usually think if you count 1 on 5 a day then count it twice on 10!!

Was about to read some wierd stuff about trampolining but I must away and scoff my bacon sandwich (quickest thing I could throw together ) and have my hair cut!

fullmoonfiend · 08/11/2007 19:11

[bounce] [bounce] [bounce]

That is me being all excited about next weekend - I don't have a trampoline!

I really really don't need any extra excercise. I'm telling you

I walk at least 3 miles a day very fast, I have 3 flights of stairs up to my office and I have to go up and down at least 5 times a day. I have two puppies boys to exercise, I have an allotment, I do all the housework, I go swimming each weekend, we go walks every weekend, I do yoga and Qi Gong and I run on nervous energy anyway.

fullmoonfiend · 08/11/2007 19:13

And today I have definitely eaten 10 portions...

(banana, satsuma, melon, grapes, tomato and beany soup, leek, onion, mushroom, courgette pasta gratin for supper, with salad. And garlic bread. Sorry.

FrayedKnot · 08/11/2007 19:58

I was hopeless with signing.

I took DS to a class but he wasn;t at all participatory and preferred crawling around in the muck on the church hall floor and trying to climb the stairs onto the stage, than staying on the nice blanket with the nice lady who sang songs and waved her hands about in a strange manner. Oh and he liked the bit where she stopped singing and took toys out of a sack, and he could have a rice cake

And at home I was too disorganized to practice it much

lionheart · 08/11/2007 20:26

Hello.

I have eaten, for the first time ever, some lentils (getting warmed up for the meet).

womblingalong · 08/11/2007 20:31

FMF,

I was exhausted just reading your post! I think you'll be giving PSW a run for their money!

Thanks Lionheart!

womblingalong · 08/11/2007 20:36

her money! obv.

lionheart · 08/11/2007 20:38

She has been saying shocking things on the flappy things thread.

fullmoonfiend · 08/11/2007 20:40

I have just upset 100 on another thread with flying-creature tomfoolery.

100, if you are here, I'm really sorry....

May we have another 'loofah' euphamism for Avis?

Tatties · 08/11/2007 20:42

Really lionheart? You have never eaten lentils? Did you enjoy it?

I have been for a swim and I feel all the better for it. I know I am always going on about PMT and stuff, but does anyone feel they have a bit of a wobble after their period too? Or am I just hormonal and all over the place all the bloody time?

Wombling, you will be tired, feeding through the night can be really wearing. Have some more {{{hugs}}} Actually I think we could all do with some

gizmo · 08/11/2007 20:48

Blimey FMF there's a lot of stamina involved in that list! What's Qi Jong? I thought it involved tiles and a board?

I do like this thread - it's good to know some people have nice PILs and toddlers who prefer rolling around in muck to sitting on rugs playing nicely.

Exercise done - am about to eat sausage casserole (bounteous onion, garlic and mixed pulses), sweet potato mash (all hail the mighty sweet potato, king of vegetables) and cauliflower. And a large glass of wine. Previously today have eaten bean-y wrappy thing and a fruit salad plus more bananas than is seemly.

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 20:50

Oh I am missing out on every other thread you are all on

I will have nothing to talk about at the meet up and you will all be going "ha ha remember that thread when..."

I have eaten, a whole red pepper stuffed with things as detailed on other thread, and some artichoke hearts.

OP posts:
Tatties · 08/11/2007 20:52

I don't know about other threads (except rude cycle-wear ones )

fullmoonfiend · 08/11/2007 20:52

oh I can't spell it, it's like baby tai chi.
very soothing, not sure it actually counts as exercise...

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 20:52

that's ANOTHER one I don't know about! stop gloating!

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 20:53

I meant the thread not the tai chi

fullmoonfiend · 08/11/2007 20:58

Franny, stop fretting. You know you are Queen of the Lentil-Munching Scene
You will sit slightly elevated on an ethically-sourced throne decked out with cushions stuffed with alfafa and you will be discussing all the late-night king-sized futon-sharing threads, and it will be the likes of poor-knackered old me who goes to bed early who will be struggling to keep up...

I have driven 100 away
