For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I'm impressed. My trampolining days are well behind me.

IdrisTheDragon · 08/11/2007 14:19

I think I could probably do a but more trampoloining. DH would be happy anyway .

(I did go on a trampoline a bit over a year ago. Have not dared to try again since ).

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 14:20

I can't exactly claim to have HAD trampolining days, exactly

come and look at my nice recipe, it is languishing with no-one to talk to it

Couldn't you tell I was lying?

Tatties · 08/11/2007 14:38

I have been on a trampoline fairly recently.

Franny it's good you feel glowing. I hope it continues My nausea and tiredness started at about 5wks (about the day after I found out I ws pg actually, so probably entirely psychological )

Sorry I have been crap about talking F&V, my mind's just not on it atm. But I am seriously aiming for the gym this evening, as long as dp gets home at a reasonable time

Boco · 08/11/2007 15:17

Hello, what are you all doing? Why are you all trampolining?

I'm eating an apple, one of the ones that dd2 has started and got bored of so hidden, but i found it before it went all brown.

Did you want a glamorous update like that?

Apart from eating mauled apples, i have spent my day on the telephone to crying people - so far 3 different crying people. That's a lot isn't it, in one day. I didn't make any of them cry though, they did that themselves.

Hunker is a vegger! Hooray!

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 15:30

Boco we have been missing you

I hope everybody stops crying. You are obviously one of those lovely people who you can just phone up and dump all your problems on. How bloody tiring for you

Tatties · 08/11/2007 15:35

Hello Boco are you alright love?

Boco · 08/11/2007 16:02

Hello i'm fine thank you. Just got caught in a downpour on the school run though, so i have wet legs and feet. I'm wearing skinny jeans so i don't know if i'll ever get them off.

gizmo · 08/11/2007 16:03

Rained on and cried on...

Are you feeling a bit soggy, Boco? I hope you have someone to run you a nice hot bath later and pass you a glass of wine.

Tatties · 08/11/2007 16:11

Oh I loved it when that happened when I was a kid, and coming in and getting straight into warm and cosy pyjamas

Boco · 08/11/2007 16:15

That would be nice. Dds want to get into their pyjamas already so they're having the same idea. It's really dark and stormy here.

gizmo · 08/11/2007 16:16

I say hot chocolate. Are you feeling a bit anaemic Boco? You're looking a little wan, you know...maybe you need some iron?

anorak · 08/11/2007 16:24

I'm doing a 30-minute walk to and from school each morning and afternoon now and the roads have steep slopes on them. I can feel my leg muscles strengthening up.

Does chocolate count as a vegetable? I bet that question's been done as well

Boco · 08/11/2007 16:29

On Wednesday i do 10 journeys to and from school! TEN! I'm sure i say that every Wednesday. Actually i probably don't have time to say that because i'm either on my way to or from school. It's not a long walk, but ten times (did i mention 10 times) is quite a lot i think.

Gizmo i feel foolish - am i not getting a reference or pun, i have pun failure panic, did you mean because of my pale rabbit's face, the anaemic thing, or can you actually see me?

gizmo · 08/11/2007 16:33

Ah. Sorry

No the line of logic was:

Persuade Boco to have hot chocolate for warmth and good cheer ---> chocolate good source of iron ---> suggest Boco has need of iron ---> freak her out by implying I'm following her

Actually I wasn't aiming for the last

Boco · 08/11/2007 16:39

Ahh, you see that actually makes perfect sense and i don't know why i flipped straight to the pun panic. I am being really dim today, sorry Gizmo.

gizmo · 08/11/2007 16:44

I imagine you have other things on your mind.

hunkermunker · 08/11/2007 16:47

I haven't been here on a Wednesday walk epic day yet, Boco, so please tell me why you do 10 trips. I won't cry at you.

ahundredtimes · 08/11/2007 16:47

LOL @ trampodavidleaning.

Poor Boco, so every time you got back from school the phone went and someone burst into tears, and when they stopped you had to go back to school. And this went on all day?

DS2 wants me to tell you about the fight in his classroom today. I have typed this. Will that do ds2?

Boco · 08/11/2007 16:52

Oh would LOVE to hear about the fight.

So glad for a chance to tell hunker about wednesday madness.

  1. I take dd1 to school at 8.30
  2. I walk back home
  3. At midday i walk to school to run an art club
  4. At 1.15 i walk back home
  5. At 3.15 I walk to pick dd1 up from school
  6. I walk back home
  7. At 4.45 I walk dd to Rainbows
  8. I walk home
  9. I go and pick dd up at 5.45
10. We walk back home

Ten journeys of 15 minutes each. Most of those are with a reluctant 2 year old too.

Boco · 08/11/2007 16:57

But the crying was today, so i had much more time for listening. Two of the cryers were crying about each other, and the other one was my sister.

FrayedKnot · 08/11/2007 17:01

I'm sure everyone else knows Boco but why do you do 10 journeys to and from school?

Wombling I'm sorry your return to work is proving hard Did I understand right that you have different childcare arrangements for your DD & DS? That sounds v. complicated.

Hunker I love your bright eyed enthusiasm and earnestness

FrayedKnot · 08/11/2007 17:02

I appear to be in a different time zone to everyone else today

Boco · 08/11/2007 17:03

I typed out my exact timetable there FK, just down a bit, for you to peruse.
