For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Ooh, I feel able to join in more today.

I have been at dd2's preschool all morning and love it sdo much.

And at snack time I handed round the fruit, and they all took some, and they were so sweet. Then I got to finish off the dried apricots, so had about a cerael bowl full
And cucumber.
And i had porridge again fo rbreakfast, but no fruit. Orange juice though.

hunkermunker · 08/11/2007 13:33

So what is the deal with smoothies then?

Do they count as more than one portion? Or is it like a juice - however many sorts you drink, it's still only one portion?

IdrisTheDragon · 08/11/2007 13:38

I would love to know the dinner your DS can cook Franny. I hjave a budding chef in my DS .

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 13:51

Oh god PLEASE can we have an FAQ with stuff about smoothies, and nuts

WE DON'T KNOW, hunker. We quibble entertainingly about it sometimes

I think in general we believe that raw unprocessed stuff is best, with the processing being done by your body. From then on it is a sliding scale down through smoothies, which still have some fibre in, but have already been broken down partially, to juices which have had the fibre removed as well. I don't think it's ideal to rely on either juices, smoothies, or, I guess, blended soups, for large chunks of your 10 each day. But we are all just trying our best, and aiming to eat good stuff each day. Do what you think is best.

Oh, no! Sorry. Don't be exasperated!

Now, about my rebounder.

Is there any truth in the "10 minutes on a rebounder is equivalent to a 30 minute run"?

hunkermunker · 08/11/2007 13:55

I agree with you, btw, re the sliding scale.

gizmo · 08/11/2007 13:55

'Do what you think is best'

hunkermunker · 08/11/2007 13:57

Jaffa smashing orangey bit it is then

(Sorry, Franny, I will go if I'm pissing about and spoiling the atmos on the 10/10 - I really am trying to eat more F&V though, because it does wonders for my mood/skin)

gizmo · 08/11/2007 14:00

Hunker, what's a rebounder?

hunkermunker · 08/11/2007 14:00

Small trampoline thingummy.

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 14:03

yes right because normally we are so serious and virtuous on here Have you ever read this thread before hunker?

sorry wasn't meaning to be exasperated but it does come up surprisingly often. Am turning into cod obviously

I have no idea about rebounder thing - 10 mins rebounding counts as 10 mins exercise on here the same as 10 mins yoga. What is rebounding? Is it trampoloining with a fancy name?

Oh here is the thread with the easy meal for children to cook on

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 14:03

LOL "trampoloining"

probably quite good for your loins

OP posts:
gizmo · 08/11/2007 14:06

As opposed to trampolioning, which is good for keeping the zebra population down.

hunkermunker · 08/11/2007 14:06

Trampoloining - pmsl. That reminds me - pork for tea. With, er jacket spud and peas and sweetcorn (my standby in the freezer extra two portions atm...!).

That only makes five today though Will have a smoothie in a mo. Wine definitely doesn't count, does it? How about coconut? [pushing luck]

You're not turning into Cod, Franny, you're turning into a glowing, beautiful pregnant lady.

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 14:07

trampoleaning - where you just slouch about looking at it, trying to work up the impetus to get on it

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 08/11/2007 14:08

trampowallooning where you must be from Belgium to partake.

gizmo · 08/11/2007 14:09

Anyway....dunno about comparisons between types of exercise. A bit pointless, really, because different activities do different things for you.

10 minutes of anything aerobic has got to be a Good Thing.

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 14:09

yes can I give small update on glowing beautiful pregnant lady status (have been very modest and quiet about it for a a good few hours)

am feeling lots of energy as long as i keep taking my superfoods. will this last?. Am actually feeling fine. Am 5.5 weeks. Is the shit about to hit the fan?

OP posts:
gizmo · 08/11/2007 14:10

Trampoldavidleaning, where you have to make an epic film about it.

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 14:12

trampocleaning

no that would just be SILLY

ooh ooh I watched the end of the Midnight in the Garden film

where is 100? It was so good, we loved it. K Spacey just PERFECT and just the right mixture of rich cad / likeable charmer. And the boy he shot was Jude Law and I didn't even notice until the credits! I kept thinking "my my that pretty boy does look like Jude Law" but it was in fact him. Only annoying thing was stupid love story for protagonist tacked on. Everything else v good indeed, would highly recommend.

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 08/11/2007 14:14

Yes, you can give an update. I was fishing for one, actually

I like having pg friends. It means I don't have to do anything, but I get to look at nice babies. And you make nice babies, Franny.

I think your diet will undoubtedly help you feel good when pg.

gizmo · 08/11/2007 14:14

Trampodreaming.

Self explanatory.

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 14:15

so erm, how to put this

have you actually been on a trampoline since having children, hunker?

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 08/11/2007 14:17

[pelvic floor of iron]
