Hi, it's me.

I am quivering and can hardly move for fear.

Need some calming words.

Let me know how it goes BB. Dd seems fine now but dh is away again tomorrow night (second time this week) so I won't fully relax...

UnionJack, yes I have been told for years to get this seen to. Easier said than done but I have tried a couple of times.

DumblesdoresGirl sorry, late to the post and don't know you but a phobic (not emetophobia) friend had an astonishing result with hypnotherapy last week. Really like a different person.
Anyway, hope things get better for you.

Gosh. this isn't an AIBU paws.

TotalChaos · 01/11/2007 11:09

paws - the whole point about phobias is that they produce irrational excessive levels of anxiety. that's why they are a problem.

DG - is there no way you could afford some private sessions with a clinical psychologist experienced in this phobia? Sorry to nag, I'm not unsympathetic, I've had OCD/germ phobia so I do realise the levels of obsessiveness and anxiety can cause downright misery.

Pawsforthought, this was yesterday's thread. It is a little out of date now. But I tell you what, next time I need help with my problems, I shall be sure to come to you. Please tell me one thing, you are not in anyway qualified in mental health problems are you? I thought not.

Thank you onebatmother and totalchaos for your supportive posts.

Paws4thought, you sound like a very silly little girl to me. Why don't you get a grip and read up about phobias before you launch into someone?

OP posts:
TotalChaos · 01/11/2007 11:14

sorry about this DG, I didn't mean to stir things up by posting this morning.

Paws4thought - what goes around comes around. That sort of attitude isn't going to encourage people to be sympathetic when it's you that's upset about something.

onebatmother · 01/11/2007 11:17

Wow. Sooo much anger paws.

DumbledoresGirl · 01/11/2007 11:20

How old are you paw4thought? (Shame you didn't take the advice in your name for one moment). Because you have reduced a 42 year old, intelligent, strong, feisty woman to tears. NOT because you are in any way right, but because I am stressed enough with everything else right now that your ugly little tirade has been the straw on the camel's back. So do you feel big and strong now? You have made a woman weep.

I would pity you but you are not worth even that consideration.

"would post her a bag of puke" - WTF

has MN gone mad lately?

DG - there has been a few threads about emetophobia. You are not alone. Do a search there has been some good advice in the past.

troll

DumbledoresGirl · 01/11/2007 11:25

Of course you would not be upset by my comments. You are an insensitive piece of work - that much was clear when you first posted.

Why don't you go and stick needles in yourself?

I thought like you before i understood the phobia fully. Be careful what you say and try to be a little understanding. I too went in with both feet and thought it was all a joke.

Google it and read the info. It is a real thing, with severe effects on the sufferer.

pooka · 01/11/2007 11:26

And I don't use that word lightly or often. Seems apt here though.

Heartmum2Jamie · 01/11/2007 11:27

I agree with Pooka, you're nothing but a selfish bitch pawsforthough

DumbledoresGirl · 01/11/2007 11:28

I actually preferred you thinking it was a joke Haychee. I remember first hearing that some people suffer from a phobia of buttons and my response (despite being a life long phobic myself) was to think it must be a joke. I now realise it is a horrible, crippling phobia, the seemingly trivial nature of which must make the sufferers feel even worse.

But to come in and attack someone suffering in this way is just barbaric IMO.

I know people with real life threatening illnesses.

There are people posting on here who's husbands are dying!! Doesn't that put things in to perspective????

DumbledoresGirl · 01/11/2007 11:32

Yes I understand some people have greater problems than me. Does that mean I am not entitled to any smaller problems of my own? Are we only allowed to break down at the thought of a death? You must lead a very one-dimensional life.

OP posts:
haychEebeeJeebees · 01/11/2007 11:32

I hope you and dd feel better soon ddg. I dont have the right words to say to you, as i still have some difficulties in comprehending the problem.
I spose, just keep telling yourself that noone is going to die, nothing that bad will happen even if she does v**it. You CAN cope, you WILL cope. Deep breaths, positive thoughts.
Put her a dvd on, settle her on the sofa provide a bucket and leave her alone. She should manage ok from there by herself id of thought. Essential oils on a hanky could distract you from any odours.

I dont know im pretty useless at this, sorry.

OldWotzBat · 01/11/2007 11:33

We are aware of that, but it doesn't mean other problems shouldn't be talked about it is a chat forum for everyone.
