Have just been for mine

not the funnest way to spend 10 minutes, but hey! don;t need another one for 3 years...

also, here's a tip if the nurse has trouble finding your cervix, mine seemed to have wandered off, lie on your left side..

was over and done with very quickly and with complete and utter sensitivity and discretion.

i know it is a bit yuck, but it is important, and you can always take a friend with for moral support.

so, if you have been meaning to book in for yours, get it booked !

coldtits · 14/12/2007 09:43

I had mynfirst last year. It didn't hurt at all. They don't always hurt, particularly not after babies.

MerryAnnSinglemas · 14/12/2007 09:57

thinking of you now itcameupon...
no, it doesn't always hurt, my prev ious two were fine and painless but I think it seems to depend on whether the nurse can locate the cervix. You can also raise your hips with your hands, iyswim, if it's pointing back, that's what I did this time.

itcameuponamidnightclayre · 14/12/2007 11:59

ok its done and was quick and easy! thank you for all for helping me thru it

MerryAnnSinglemas · 14/12/2007 12:23

sherby · 06/01/2008 18:31

When do you start having smears?

Is it about 25?

Slacker · 06/01/2008 18:51

You should start having smears when you're sexually active, not any particular age - I had developed cervical cancer by the age of 29 which would have been growing for years!

lulumama · 06/01/2008 18:53

slacker, that must have been awful

Slacker · 06/01/2008 19:05

It wasn't a bundle of fun at the time, but it was 7 years ago so I think I'm in the clear now, and I'm about to have my 2nd baby since I was told I had to have a hysterectomy

lulumama · 06/01/2008 19:51

good luck for the birth x
