For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Following on from my shoe dilemma, peat with a deep sea tulip or holly with a deep sea tulip? colours here I am terrible at making decisions but must hurry as it takes up to 28 days to make them and I have nothing waterproof....

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 23:44

Or olive? What about olive and something? Oh, the agony of choice!
Thank you all for your patience.

FrannyandZomble · 08/10/2007 08:19

Blasted Morrissey?

oh holly, I think, green shoes would be lovely. The peat is too dark - I might say peat if it was more brownish

LL I thought I had missed it! Lovely pictures. Everyone is so flipping good-looking Ah well I have attractive ds and will hide behind him

Am eating grapes, melon, apple, pear, raisins after shocking fibre-free day yesterday. I did have a fruit and nut toblerone though.

We are going to my mum's next Sunday and staying overnight. I am angsting about it already.

100 please report in on your pavlova, and the shooting and everything.

Idris I have got a book you might like? I think it is called "Sunbathing in the Rain - a cheerful book about depression". It sounds awful but I think is actually quite good. But perhaps you don't want books about depression.

Oh and ds is 4.5 and turning huge. I was watching him running around in the park at the weekend and thinking where did that milky-chopped little boy go?

ahundredtimes · 08/10/2007 09:13

Pavlova a success - a two-tiered pavlova it was, with lots of cream and strawberries. Boys sighed when they saw it - they did, and their eyes grew big as saucers.

The shooting was amazing apparantly - I didn't go, I sent dh and mate. dh and mate adored it, all boys adored it. It was the best thing EVER they all said. DH thought they were a lovely group of boys and it made him laugh because the man doing the laser tag was trying to explain to them how the game worked and they all kept putting their hands up and interrupting and asking 'sir, sir how many bullets do we have?' 'sir, sir when we die where do we go?'

I think ds1 had a good day. But it's funny seeing him in the context of a group, he's very quiet, and I never think of him as quiet because he's so talkative. But he ducks under the radar all the time and doesn't engage with anyone much. TooT let's talk 'mild aspergic tendencies' some time.

There was one boy (who has teenage sisters) who kept saying to them all 'are you a virgin?' and 'are you gay?' and ds1 and his friends are not very 'with it' or particuarly advanced and they all kept shifting and looking nervous and blinking at him and saying 'Yes?' and then he kept laughing at them. It reminded me of being at school. I told him to stop it, and then ds1 looked cross with me, but I hated girls like that. Then he said 'put your hand up if you're gay' and some of them did, so I said 'put your hand up if you know what gay means' and glared at him, and he blushed and then I felt bad, and thought really I shouldn't be in the playground with this kid because I'm nearly forty.

Anyway all was well. DS1 had a top day, I think. He loved his presents. The pavolva was bloody good.

Off to the Harvest Festival to listen to the Harvest Samba Song .

womblingalong · 08/10/2007 09:35

BBBeee,

You poor thing, I read about your accident on the other thread, but no time to post until now. How are you? I agree about pic/letter for lovely lorry driver, it sounds just perfect.

Boco, your accident sounds horrific too, god it is horrendous when your Children are with you. I wrote off a car with DD in it, and was in shock for ages at the thought that she could have died.

LL - so sorry you have been feeling awful, you are gorgeous that photo is lovely. Franny, I will have to hide behind gorgeous DC's too.

Zippi, your photo is lvely, and just as I imagined you.

Idris, its so horrid when you start to feel down, esp as the weather changes, I find it is much harder to stay postive and motivated in autumn/winter.

Hundred, pavlova sounds delish, and party sounds fab.

Boco · 08/10/2007 10:40

We had that harvest samba song in dds school too. It's gets stuck in your head for days.

Just been to do the reading in dds class and ended up helping in the class with writing instead. They did show and tell. One girl had made a sign that said 'no kikin in chuch' Another girl brought in badges of airoplanes and talked about duxford for about ten solid minutes, and when the teacher said 'do you like planes then Kate?' she looked mournful and said 'no, not really.'

100 the party sounds like another great success - especially the Pavlova. My dd is very very talkative, but at school or in a group is very quiet. Show and tell is painful as she whispers and is all awkward. But then in class she was a bit of a naughty giggler with her friend which surprised me.

Lullabyloo · 08/10/2007 10:52

ds has been singing BIG RED COMBINE HARVESTER for weeks now
I guess that is nursery's harvest song of choice

there is nothing remotely quiet, shy or retiring about ds ....he loves people, the sound of his own voice & asking questions....lots of them

prepare to be exhausted at the meet up

i am on a mission to buy an alarm clock today...i am sleeping in later & later....this morning to my shame...>>>
Ridiculous ..thank goodness it wasn't nursery day

TooTicky · 08/10/2007 10:58

Oh really Franny? Yes, I was fancying the greenness rather. I take it back about Morrissey. He is very lovely indeed.

(Actually, lovely isn't always a safe word. Dd1 asks me, "How do I look?" and I say, "Lovely!" and she scowls and growls and says, "I don't want to look lovely ". Complicated.)

100x, yes, let's. Late evening prob best for me for discussions of this nature.
Glad the party went well

Lullabyloo · 08/10/2007 11:03

where is franny?
we did a deal.............picture please

lionheart · 08/10/2007 11:17

Idris, at least you have caught it early this time and can plan a counter-attack. Depression is a buggery thing.

Possum, they like the yeast and will simply drown in a drunken fashion.

lionheart · 08/10/2007 11:18

Lullaby, you look lov-ur-ly (if that is the right word).

IdrisTheDragon · 08/10/2007 11:44

I think Franny said she had People Coming to Visit today. So we are being allowed to sort ourselves out.

Lullabyloo · 08/10/2007 12:12

oh dear.....that's me done for then
i am still in my jammies
i havn't made lunch

someone sort me out

i think i shall advertise for a kindly, motherly ,uber lovely fairy godmother.......i shall let ds write out our requirements & post it up the chimney....& wait for her to descend by parasol

oh lummy

lionheart · 08/10/2007 12:25

You get dressed, I'll make the lunch meet you down at the pub for lunch.

Boco · 08/10/2007 12:26

I'm supposed to be going on a very 10/10 picnic lunch now - in a willow bender in the woods, with story telling and picnic food with some friends. But it's so cold! And dull, and i want cheese on toast and dd has just got back from pre-school and asked for a blanket and some hot apple juice.

IdrisTheDragon · 08/10/2007 12:30

Stay at home .

How many people are going? Would your presence be missed?

Boco · 08/10/2007 12:33

4 other adults and 8 other children. It's a nice idea, i just like the idea of putting on the heating more.

IdrisTheDragon · 08/10/2007 12:34

Cheese on toast is good

lionheart · 08/10/2007 12:35

Hot chocolate is good.

Boco · 08/10/2007 12:36

Yes, with ham and horseradish too. Mmmmm. And tea. You can't get a cup of tea in a bender.

Oh sod it i'm going to cancel.

Idris, you could get a written warning for this! Demand your post is deleted before Franny gets back!

lionheart · 08/10/2007 12:42

Yes, there is a clause about fermenting insurrection somewhere.

IdrisTheDragon · 08/10/2007 12:43

She won't throw me out will she ?

lionheart · 08/10/2007 12:44

She may have to have a word, which is much worse.

FrannyandZomble · 08/10/2007 12:47

I am here

I have people coming TONIGHT
