For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

you see, Lionheart sugested beer-ing the slugs to death, like the chap who drowned in a butt of Malmsey (which medieval duke was it?)
but I would feel very responsible if a badger got drunk gorging on such slugs then had a terrible hangover or ambled into the set bellowing 'come on Eileen' to his muissus at 3am...

IdrisTheDragon · 07/10/2007 22:38

Financially we would be better me working full time and DH being SAHD (just) rather than the current DH working full time and me doing three days. But I don't want that either.

Will buy lottery tickets I think.

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 22:38

My ds1 used to be utterly badger mad. He has now packed away all his badgers. He is being a scary big boy [sob]

IdrisTheDragon · 07/10/2007 22:39

Sorry, to get back to slugs isn't there something about putting salt on them?

IdrisTheDragon · 07/10/2007 22:39

When do DSs turn into big boys? I mean properly big boys? DS is still generally small (although he feels he is big, obviously).

AllGonePossum · 07/10/2007 22:40

Idris, you are too mauve and petite and sweet to be depressed, the thought of Idris being sad saddens me immensely. Can we help?

Lullabyloo · 07/10/2007 22:41

lol lol lol at modelling
you are all very funny, kind & sweet

I have no cheek bone in the left hand side

Toot....it's a pain isn't it....I should have gone back to work when ds was 6m......apparantly......but just couldnt
I waited too long for him & there childhood is so precious
So i put up with the grumbling & we make do

BBBee · 07/10/2007 22:42

Idris - nothing wrong with ADs if you need them. Like aspirin for a headache. Don't be sad be hurrah! good for you tackling this head on!

IdrisTheDragon · 07/10/2007 22:42

Possum, that is a very sweet thing to say .

My depressive tendencies are a long term thing I think. On and off for past 15 years or so. I am more annoyed at the moment as I felt it was all right but it isn't really.

But i ma having small bits of determination to sort it out, and as one of my symptoms is a lack of motivation to do anything, this is good.

BBBee · 07/10/2007 22:43

LL - I did the whole not going back to work thing and am only doing it now they are big and strapping. It takes all sorts - you just find your own (right) way and this is mine. Wish I could have avoided the angst though!

IdrisTheDragon · 07/10/2007 22:44

I know I know (re ADs). Rationally I am fine about them but irrationally I get a little annoyed.

IdrisTheDragon · 07/10/2007 22:45

I am going to bed. Yucky old work in the morning (which means very early morning).

Sleep well fruit and veggers.

MrsCarrot · 07/10/2007 22:45

I would like to know how 100x pavlova turned out. I wonder if she is regretting boycotting the cornflour and vinegar.

I have eaten too much peach, vanilla and raspberry crumble.

BBBee · 07/10/2007 22:45

tell the annoyed bit of you to shut the F up then! you are doing really well. It is hard.

So LL the sailor - what exactly happened before the dawn bit?

MrsCarrot · 07/10/2007 22:46

Idris - I have a pea phobia too but only round ones.

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 22:46

Peppermint tea? No, sorry. A handful of the fresh leaves maybe....

Ds1 is 8. He is loud and angry but also very sweet at times. But he doesn't play with badgers or playmobil any more

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 22:47

You CAN NOT put salt on slugs! It dissolves them. That is horrid.

MrsCarrot · 07/10/2007 22:47

I am going to pretend the title is about sugarsnaps

AllGonePossum · 07/10/2007 22:50

oh God Toot, my angelically snoozing LO, whom I just dream fed and who is sighing and slurping imaginary milk in his sleep with rosebud lips, in only 7 years will be loud and angry and will have abandonned PlayMobil (which he hasn't actually started playing with yet...)

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 22:53

It is scary. Dd1, on the other hand, still plays with her dolls house and she is 11. But she also has a teen-style attitude which rears up every so often.

MrsCarrot · 07/10/2007 22:56

Some of the toys seem to transcend age, they will all sit and build the duplo, make wooden towers etc.

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 22:58

Yes, I've noticed that too.

BBBee · 07/10/2007 22:59

BRIO! I wil stil happily play with brio and I am over 30!

MrsCarrot · 07/10/2007 23:03

I'd forgotten about that, we still have a huge box somehwere, maybe there's even a Bock-O

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 23:15

We went to the Brio museum in Sweden and it is gorgeous. Lots of lovely old toys behind glass but also lots for children to play with, and downstairs you can see the Tomtens making the toys and look around their kitchen.
