glad you didn't pick it up & puff it prefernot! IT seems terirbly unfair that you feel so awful when you're doing something so positive and so blimmin' difficult! am sure it'll pass, maybe just the body adjusting... had terrible pains around the lung region the other day, wondered if they were slowly creaking back into life...

off to take kids to gymnastics soon, SO nice not to worry about having faggy breath when chatting to the other mums! Just minty lozenge breath.

cc and mm, are you on 2 mg lozenges? how many a day? Think I have about 6 a day, need to pop quite a few...

SIX LOZENGES A DAY...
KEEP THE TEMPER AT BAY...
f xx

charliecat · 04/11/2004 16:39

Hello I am rushed off my feet, still havent looked into transport to the meetup havent smoked nearly 1000 bloody fags would you believe, I think it will be 1000 when my months up...tommorow. I am on 2mg lozengers and will be dropping to 1 mg sometime next week...popping quickly in and out BYE!!

charliecat · 04/11/2004 19:10

What was I moaning about the other day? Wasnt as bad as this...

nearlyfour · 04/11/2004 20:26

Hi. Can I join this thread please? I have read some of your messages, and you are doing so well, and lots of positive thoughts, and well done!

I am stopping smoking tomorrow! I have an appointment at 9.30am with a pharmacist who is going to stick a patch on me, and no more! I saw her last week for an initial meeting, and then I set the day for tomorrow. I have been waiting for tomorrow to come, and now its here, aagh!I know I am ready, but I am also scared about cravings etc, but got to say having read advice here, I am more prepared than I have been before (this is no.3 attempt -third time lucky!!).

mammya · 04/11/2004 20:53

Hi nearlyfour, welcome and well done on your decision! It isn't easy but you CAN do it if you really want to.

CC, I know, that's horrible isn't it? yeeeech! I couldn't believe it when I saw this thread! How can anyone be so disgusting, not to mention disrespectful!

Prefernot, so you are a kind of part-time single mum in a way? Well done for not picking up that ciggie! HOpe you start feeling better soon.

I'm at 350 cigarettes not smoked! CC I am in awe, are you going to celebrate your 1000th unsmoked fag?

What are those oils you are talking about? they sound lovely!

charliecat · 04/11/2004 21:43

Would it be oh so wrong to celebrate with a big fat juicy roll up? 963 its on now so tommorow or Saturday it will be the 1000 jeesus I smoked a lot didnt I?
Nearlyfour Hello and Welcome to our mad thread! We all are doing really well now, except me and my addiction to weed when the going gets tough, and I hope you can join in with our success.
The patches are great, in fact any substitute really helps majorly with all the nasty things that prefernot has been experiencing, as you are not depriviving your body of the drug thats its been getting as daily dose of every hour or so for the past X amount of years, so its not THAT bad, although you do still have to have a mental fight with yourself, will I wont I...and always choose the wont one!
Mammya, I was at 350 not so long ago and was amazed at myself, its quite scary how quickly ive got to this amount
The oils we have been pushed into buying from the sales lady Minkmama, lol, and they are great, so great me and Fiona have got some on order for Xmas Pressies.
They are aromatherapy and they are LUSHIOUS.
Going to continue with my never ending housework now

prefernot · 04/11/2004 21:50

Hello nearlyfour, I'm a relative newcomer here too. In fact I'm only just into my 3rd day with absolutely no smokes at all. How much have you been smoking? What's made you decide to give up?

I'm hanging in. Less palpitations today but woke up with a blinding headache. Is that also 'withdrawal'???

On a brighter note, I'm going to stay with my mum for a couple f days next week and can't wait to surprise her her with the news I've stopped. Assuming I last out until then ...

Oh, yes, mammya, many's the time I feel like a single mum!!

fionagib · 04/11/2004 22:16

of course you'll last out prefernot! And welcome nearlyfour... good luck for your quitting day - mine was only 11 days ago (I think), it's been totally FINE (using lozenges, couldn;t cope without subsistute) apart from mild bouts of ill humour - which to think of it I experienced when I was still chuffing fags - and a tendency to nibble late at night - oh, and slurp wine. Can I babble some reasons why it's been so bloody great not to smoke anymore...

feeling proud & in control
not feeling raging guilt at sticking kids in front of telly JUST so I can sneak out for a smoke (have dd of 4 and twins boys of 7)
the cash! am saving a fiver a day
not stinking
teeth looking a teeny bit better
not fretting than am gonna die and it'll be all my fault
wearing clothes more than one day cos they don't pong
telling boys truthfully this time that I've stopped (they hate fags as most kids do I guess)
not wasting acres of time puffing madly by stinky bin in our back yard.

life has been so much better. even the cravings are worth it. GOOD LUCK!!

hi everyone else, feel like Ilve been hogging the thread lately... love f xxx just in from drawing class, nudie man again, which took mind off fags

fionagib · 04/11/2004 22:17

AND CONGRATS ON YOUR 1000TH UNSMOKED FAG, CC!

charliecat · 04/11/2004 22:20

Can you sneal in your camera FG when your at your next art class? I feel that would spur me on

charliecat · 04/11/2004 22:20

SNEAK

charliecat · 04/11/2004 22:22

I think im gonna open a new thread next week " Chat Only No Chuffing!"

prefernot · 04/11/2004 22:38

Sounds good cc.

Fiona when I was an art student I did a few stints of life modelling which was frequently excruciating! I longed for lying down or at least sitting poses but I always ended up standing, leaning on one leg in a very cold draft. Much better to be on the other side of the easel .

Oh and we used to frequently (as students) get a middle-aged man who got rather 'excited' while we were drawing him ... made for lots of rubbing out ...

Day 3 over nearly for me then. So does that mean I won't wake up tomorrow morning with a headache?

minkmama · 04/11/2004 22:38

Hi girls,

Wow, finally managed to come by and say 'hello'! Was on pc all evening sorting out my selling stuff. funny you should say that about 'saleslady' cc as i have just put the oils on ebay so if any of you guys are interested.... mammya, i mix them myself and those other two seem to enjoy it, cc the greedy pig is on her second

only had the chance to whizz through the last posts - felt really left out not being here!!! WELL DONE ALL OF US, THIS IS FINALLY FEELING GOOD! and prefernot, don't worry, these physical pains whilst unbearable now, are just leading you to a better, healthier life!!

Welcome nearlyfour, what an interesting name, surely not an indication of how many babies you have?

CONGRATS CC....1000 YEEEEEHHHHHHHHYYYYYY

minkmama · 04/11/2004 22:43

haha prefernot, i was also an art student many years ago and spent my sat mornings at a class. one day we got this guy with long curly blonde hair so the teacher decided to make him look myth-like or something and gave him a spear and told him to stand with his legs apart in a proud stance. well....after drawing for a while my friends and i noticed taht whilst he wasn't 'excited' a strange liquid was emerging from his member and in a syrupy way drizzled to the floor and there was this line of clear substance connecting his penis to the floor!!!

didn't draw it in tho.

the funny thing was that the art teacher ignored it and made him stand there till the break!!!LOL

oh and LOL about that other thread cc. WTF!!!indeed!

charliecat · 04/11/2004 22:47

Heres MMs Here and heres mine

charliecat · 04/11/2004 22:50

LOL at the strangeness of my things on Ebay...this is the stuff im selling, can you IMAGINE what my house looks like

charliecat · 04/11/2004 22:51

No this is mine duh

mammya · 04/11/2004 23:02

Oh dammit! It was free listing day today wasn't it? I forgot... I've got stuff I've been meaning to put on Ebay for aaaages, never get round to it somehow (too much time on mumsnet perhaps...).

charliecat · 04/11/2004 23:06

You have 58 mins to do it in.........download turbo lister and youll get it done in no time.

minkmama · 04/11/2004 23:27

what the hell's turbo lister, did i use it?!!

dear lord cc, you've been ultra busy AND had time to get on mumsnet!! must be all those ex-fag break minutes

i'm going to call you 'super-linker' you're always great at doing those links for us!! what do you think of my listings then? i probably spent too much time on them as they are my first...

mammya · 04/11/2004 23:29

It's not going to happen cc, I have to round up all the things, take pictures, write up some blurb... and only 30 minutes left now! Oh well it's waited until now, it can wait a while longer... I've noticed these free listing days come round every now and then. What I need to do is prepare everything so I am ready for the next one!

charliecat · 04/11/2004 23:32

I was quite actually, here is turbo lister...download it and you can list offline etc and its excellent if your not on BB

charliecat · 04/11/2004 23:34

What I do is slowly get my shit ready on that Turbo lister ive just put a link to, have a mad rush the day before FLD for fresh shit ive accumulated...you could do that too if you download the thingy..

charliecat · 04/11/2004 23:37

Its great sitting on FLD knowing other people who havent discovered Turbo Lister are sitting there frantically having a fit trying to get as many listings done in 1 day as possibly 1 by one and you have done it with ease over the course of a few weeks!!!!!!
