onlyjoking9329 · 30/09/2007 17:52

steve is really tired and feeling very sick still, he is having a problem with his left arm & leg, last night he had two falls fell out of bed and then fell on the way to the loo. he is bruised and feeling crap that he can't get around very well.

toomanywrinkles · 30/09/2007 18:45

Sorry to hear this Babe, do you think the falls are to do with the tumour or the treatment?
((((HUGS))))

onlyjoking9329 · 30/09/2007 19:14

the falls could be due to the radio as it does initally cause some swelling to the brain. it could of course be due to the tumour which can cause seizures thou i don't think steve had seizures last night.
or it could be due to his MS.
he is in bed we now have a baby monitor so i can hear him.

don't know how I missed this thread, just wanted to add thoughts and hope he gets some better anti-emetics sorted soon.

onlyjoking9329 · 30/09/2007 19:32

he isn't actually being sick just feeling sick, so i think the anti sickness tabs are working he is just feeling shite which to be honest we expected but i am worried that he will stop treatment if it gets any worse.

Sweetheart you are going through the range of emotions.
be strong for each other and look after yourself.
i know it is Steve that is ill, but you are having to hold it all together for everyone.
give yourself some time to do things that do not involve being a carer.
keep talking i am sure someone will be along soon with some wise and encouraging words.

TheMadHouse · 30/09/2007 21:16

OJ I am so sorry re the nausea etc .

Seabands might help with the nausea. I had acupuncture for it and this was were the needles went. They suggested seabands in the same place on my wrists and it actualy did offer some releif.

I am thinking of you

fransmom · 30/09/2007 21:18

((((((((((oj and steve))))))))))))

onlyjoking9329 · 30/09/2007 22:34

will get some seabands for him, only another three days of chemo. will be easier for him when that has finished, it is horrible having to give him the chemo tablets then watch him suffer.
only another 28 day of radiotherapy to go.

Tickle · 30/09/2007 22:44

Ginger is also really good for nausea - I used to drink hot water with a slice of raw ginger & a bit of honey when I had morning sickness.

It was an excuse to eat lots of ginger nuts too of course

Hope you all get a good night's sleep

WendyWeber · 30/09/2007 23:14

How many days chemo does he have to have altogether, oj? Is it just one week? He will probably feel worse and worse as it goes on, but then he will start to feel better once it stops.

Sorry about the falls, that's all he needs on top of feeling so shit. Hope he can manage to sleep a lot when he's not actually dragging to the hospital and back - sleep is a good way of shutting it all out, and he will have less energy than normal anyway, for a bit.

Hope he and you both have better nights tonight.

dustystar · 01/10/2007 11:23

{{{hugs}}} to you and Steve.

My mum found queasy pops helped when she had chemo. Look here

wishingchair · 01/10/2007 13:55

Weird how the treatment is different isn't it since both our DHs are treated for aggressive brain tumours. DH had the chemo for the full duration of the radio - 150mg a day. What's Steve's dosage? Is he on steroids to alleviate the swelling?

DH got his MRI results back and it's not got any bigger which is a relief.

onlyjoking9329 · 01/10/2007 14:52

will look at the queasy pops.
WC does your husband have the GBM4?
steve has three chemo tablets per day 140mg
he has it for 7 days then three weeks off.
they said steve would have steriod when on treatment but he hasn't been given any yet, will ask the doctor in the morning.
his treatment went ok thou there was a delay, he had to go for bloods and the oncology blood place was closed 1-2 so we had to go to the out patients blood place the other side of the hospital. they need the results as we are seeing the consultant in the morning.
Saw our macmillan nurse today too.
steve has gone for a sleep so i will nip to the shops and get something to tempt him to eat at least something.
