For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes but if he loves you at all he must never, ever, do the same

Of course not.

Carotte · 20/09/2007 21:26

went to the homeopath today, asked ds1 (skiving) through gritted teeth to stop tapping on the counter and they asked if irritability was one of my symptoms. Cheek. Sepia was duly added to my manky breast mix.

BBBee · 20/09/2007 21:27

is there something you can take for irritabilty then? That sounds nice.

Carotte · 20/09/2007 21:28

Dh smokes most evenings. I would prefer ds1 not to know and he is nearly 10. IME parents habits are not usually a deterrant.

Carotte · 20/09/2007 21:28

Sepia.

FrannyandZooey · 20/09/2007 21:30

Parental habits definitely picked up on by child IMO

it normalises the behaviour, even if you find it abhorrent at the same time

I have been a silver tongued serpent for quite a few days. I am restarined on 10/10. In real life I am a little volatile.

Franny - yes I do feel tired I must ring the LLL, they sound very helpful. I don't want to stop feeding. We enjoy it.

I think however not doing it in front of your child makes some difference, even if they know about it

(all purely anecdotal belief from my own life and working as nanny)

FrannyandZooey · 20/09/2007 21:31

LLL are fab, do ring them

I can give you my local leader's number if you don't get on with yours

less honesty

womblingalong · 20/09/2007 21:34

MrsC about your norks - sounds so uncomfortable and painful.

Oh Poo Franny, I missed you being offensive, no fair, would have made me laugh.

I am on Facebook, but just don't know what to do on it, I just don't get it, and at the mo have no time. Keep meaning to chat to you Boco, but seem to have no time.

Went to see Consultant for DS today, have changed meds to Losac - which is this hideous talet that has to be dissolved and given in a syringe and a stronger antiacid called Metclopramide.

He also asked me to start weaning, (DS is 23wks), so started him on baby rice today, and although I really really really wanted to wait until 26weeks, I am so glad I didn't, he cried when he finished it (2tbsp!!), and I took the bowl away, and then was the calmest, happiest and sunniest baby you could imagine for and hour or two after that. It was like having a different child. I mean he sat in his chair looking out of the window at the leaves and playing with his hands for 40 mins, which is unheard of!

Apparently,he is not feeding efficently, his latch has become very poor as he is in so much pain, so the meds are to try and eliminate pain when feeding. I have tried to contact LLL for a BF Counsellor, but no luck so far, I need help getting him to latch on, and need to boost my supply pronto, so any tips greatly appreciated.

I just hope things get better quickly,I am being pestered to start back at work by mid Oct, so need to get this sorted asap.

Have also eaten better to day - hooray, raisins, peach, pear, avocado, rocket, veg soup, OJ, beetroot.

Carotte · 20/09/2007 21:34

Is that how it works then, Franny, there is a local person?

FrannyandZooey · 20/09/2007 21:34

Yes i can understand that

I don't think total honesty is always?often? necessary or desirable, with adults or with children

however lying is another thing

pinkspottywellies · 20/09/2007 21:36

Can I ask a quick mooncup question so I don't have to start a whole thread please? How often should I boil it? I thought every month but in the booklet it says every once in a while.

Carotte, hope you find LLL useful. You're doing an amazing thing - lots of people would have given up.

Carotte · 20/09/2007 21:36

I think as an adult or even teenage I would understand why I was lied to at aged seven. Some llies are ok I think. They are protective.

lionheart · 20/09/2007 21:38

wombling, what a relief.

FrannyandZooey · 20/09/2007 21:38

Wombling so pleased to hear about the improvement! I have heard that before about refluxy babies benefiting from early introduction of food. How do you mean you couldn't get in touch with LLL yet? Did you phone the national number? You will always get through to your nearest local leader on that number, or if she is out, it will (should) trip through to the next nearest and so on until you get a real live person. Do persevere, they are so knowledgeable and caring, or at least IME they are, which is why I said I could give you my local contact Carotte (if you email me) if yours is not totally marvellous as well.

lionheart · 20/09/2007 21:38

I agree, Carotte.

FrannyandZooey · 20/09/2007 21:39

PSW most women boil or otherwise sterilise every month, between periods

Carotte not having been in that situation I can only defer to your experience. Sorry to hear about it.

Carotte · 20/09/2007 21:44

oh you know, everyone seems to have adysfunctional family in one form or another.

wombling - so pleased things are improving for you. Lo hated baby rice but is rather partial to pear porridge now.

pinkspottywellies · 20/09/2007 21:46

Thanks Franny.

Glad to hear it's going well Wombling

pinkspottywellies · 20/09/2007 21:47

I've been trying to play Scrabulous on facebook for days and I can't make it work or find anyone to play with or anything

lionheart · 20/09/2007 21:50

Can't you start your own game, psw? Or is it more Masonic than that?
