For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

hello

Fruit salad. Containing kiwi fruit, apple, grapes, pineapple, orange melon, white-ish melon, mango and some fruit I cannot identify. Orangey-red and rather soft. Any ideas?

filthymindedvixen · 17/09/2007 08:59

papaya?

I have had more blackberries...

I would love to find an alternative option for ds2. There is a huge dearth of alternatives in the north of england. Home ed is not an option as we both need to work to make ends meet. And sometimes they don't quite meet!

lionheart · 17/09/2007 09:29

See, lots of fruit here.

TooTicky · 17/09/2007 10:10

Another faithful apple with my muesli. 2 beech nuts on the way to school.

Morning all

I have had OJ, clementine, grapes, banana.

BBBee · 17/09/2007 10:21

Those schools all sound lovely but my DS is quite eccentric and those needs of his are met elsewhere (well by eccentric us I guess!)and in lots of ways I take comfort from the state school he is in giving him a bit of real life grounding.

We are lucky though - they have a gardening club, a big field and a pond. My hipppiness is somewhat indulged.

DD adores rules - stange creature.

Cat to vet today as he seems to be suffering after effects of having his nuts off. Poor bugger.

Only just seen this thread title! Loving it!

Boco · 17/09/2007 10:57

Been doing reading with the children in dds class today. I can see why she wants to gather acorns, it's quite intense.

Waiting for dd2 to come home from her first ever day at nursery. She was so sweet this morning - all excited and scared, she chose raisins to take, and peter shekalod the pig, and her favourite jumper, and i said 'i'll miss you', and she said, 'oh, you're welcome!' and gave me a big cuddle. [sob]

filthymindedvixen · 17/09/2007 10:58

I must say, I'm quite proud of it...

filthymindedvixen · 17/09/2007 10:59

Boco [sob] on your behalf!

BBBee · 17/09/2007 11:24

oh boco - oh poor bereft boco.

dd sounds charming - I thought it was older dd with peter - 'you're welcome' - the darling will go far!

What about dd1s class didn;t you like? How was it 'intense'? How did DD respond to you being there?

Boco · 17/09/2007 11:57

No it's little dd with the pig and the imaginary friends. She's still not back - where is she? I'm pacing.

Class was intense because it was a long time of them sitting on the floor and listening to the teacher talking about letter positioning - and they all had to be very quiet and still. Dd just gave me coy smiles every now and then.

Boco · 17/09/2007 13:37

Home and tired. She's needed a very long cuddle and stories. She seemed to have a good time, dp said she tottered off happily when he left her and seemed fine when he picked her up. She did paintings. Now she's lying down looking at books and looks shattered.

IdrisTheDragon · 17/09/2007 15:18

Boco, you are very very much better than me at scrabble .

Boco · 17/09/2007 15:41

But Idris i've only had one move - and it was flukey - the letters were practically in the right order to make that word already. Have your go, gwon!

Boco · 17/09/2007 17:28

It's so quiet in veg today - when is Frannoa coming back? I'm right off my fruit and veg with the whole eeryness of this thread.

Frannyisgoingonholiday · 17/09/2007 19:06

Oh I am back and I am sad. I want to go back to the festival.

lionheart · 17/09/2007 19:11

Didn't miss us at all then?

How was it?

TooTicky · 17/09/2007 19:44

Franny, why not camp in the garden and hire some bearded musical men?

Are you all playing scrabble on facebook? I love scrabble but I'm not doing facebook.

Homemade pizza and a sort of big mince pie with apple and pear.

TooTicky · 17/09/2007 19:53

I have just joined scrabulous but am deliberating in a very libran way over which room to enter. I hate walking into rooms full of strangers.

Boco · 17/09/2007 20:11

Play facebook scrabulous - then you can play with me and bee and idris.

Franny my brother now looks very much like bonnie prince billy. He's grown really odd facial hair - but isn't receding quite as much. I could get him to sing to you.

We missed you if it helps, and are setting up a commune.

TooTicky · 17/09/2007 20:13

I am a bit of facebook.

Boco · 17/09/2007 20:17

That's fine - just sign up, only have friends who you're playing scrabble with and ignore all the rest of it. I will send you pictures to keep you amused while you're waiting for people to take their turn.

pinkspottywellies · 17/09/2007 20:21

Hi Franny! Nice to have you back.

Boco, at 'you're welcome'

100x come back! I know you're lurking!

Today at the market I bought:
6 carrots
11 apples
6 pears
5 nectarines
1 mango
7 bananas
2 melons - all for £4.70

I also handed my notice in on my proper job so I won't be going back

Having bought all that good stuff, I haven't actually eaten any f and v except melon this morning. But I'm on the right track. I'm now going to go and cook. Banana cake and Franny's squash and lentil recipe and maybe some goulash but I might make it tomorrow.
