For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

It sounds like a breakfast which would disappear quickly on the days when my kids need to be at school at 7.30, might try it.

I have deleted my first couple of posts from this thread - they were a bit sweary and in late night context following on from the 'cunting mango' sceanrio I thought it was quite funy but I don;t think it was. Sorry if you read it and was shocked.

So today has been okay - I two children swimming again and then we had sandwiches and sushi from M&S.

FV wise:

2 greengages
1 apple
salad
er, some more salad.

FrannyandZooey · 09/09/2007 17:35

Oh BBB sorry, you did really want a new thread sorry, I didn't see there was a problem but I would have done it if you'd have told me how you felt

I hope I didn't say anything out of order myself?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 09/09/2007 17:36

oh hi fran - just posted a mooncup question on the other thread.#

I just have visions of all you lovelies trotting on in the morning with cups of tea and children running around to be faced with that - hardly the nicest start to a thread - what!

3andnomore · 09/09/2007 17:37

oh dear, lol!

Og, must look greengages up...I have no idea what they are, lol!

BBBee · 09/09/2007 17:38

3andnomore · 09/09/2007 17:40

We have had loads if they are those little plum-ish looking things which they call Mirabelles here. I never can be arsed to look in the dictionary- what are greengages in German, 3? They are indeed lovely.

ernest · 09/09/2007 18:02

just being nosey here sorry, tried to 10 a day and am hopeless failure, but dior, if you come and cook for me I'll do it! Sounds wonderful. Free board & loadging. Go on.

Waves to Sauerkraut.

Ds 1 eating plums

SauerKraut · 09/09/2007 18:07

Waves back to ernest
Nose away! I fail most days too, but come here for regular inspiration. Especially on a day where I have been offered and have scoffed four kinds of cake and loads of STILTON!!!! My friend's daughter came to her 70th from London and brought it- us poor deprived expats pigged most of it!

ernest · 09/09/2007 18:14

hmmm, lamb stew.

hmmm, stilton.

hmmmm cake.

Aren't you lot supposed to be healthy?

Quite right to steal the goodies.

FrannyandZooey · 09/09/2007 18:16

Right ernest we can see you as a challenge

tell us what you have for breakfast lunch and dinner, usually, and we will do scary makeover thing

FWIW we all eat what we want on here - we just eat lots and lots of f+v while we are doing it. I think most of us enjoy it.

I usually have muesli with a few extra raisins & pecans mixed with bio yoghurt for breaksfast. Then crap for dinner & tea.

Stupid thing is, apart from fennel I like pretty much everything., but actually prefer very healthy stuff, but it just doesn't happen. Blardy kids.

I used to be vegan, stopped when ds2 was born (6.5 years ago) and since then the fussiness of my blasted kids has worn me down and we have a range of about oh, 3 meals. Usually dpressingly 'bread'n''am'n'stuff for lunch and meat with carrots and broccoli for tea. So friggin boring.

I am prepared to get tough but have lost all of my culinary skill & imagination & enjoyment.

YOu take me firmly in hand and I'll be happy to obey

What could I do in return?

Sauerkraut, how do you manage it, seriously? I go into coop / migros and they've only got about 6 different types of f&v anyway?! & I hate buying stuff like green beans cos they're all flown in from bloody sounth america or something and it does my head in. I do have a bit of a eco thing about food flown all over the world

ernest · 09/09/2007 18:26

speaking of which, better go and collect dh from airport, and feed the kids there as I can't be arsed to cook more rejected food for them

TooTicky · 09/09/2007 18:27

Hang on SK, you didn't tell us your idyllic Swiss schools require children to be there at 7.30

ernest · 09/09/2007 18:28

my idillic swiss school doesn't need them to be there till 8.10, if that sounds more reasonable, tho this was changed this academic year, and me not being swiss enough didn't realise and sent them late every day for the 1st week

ernest · 09/09/2007 18:29

btw, hello tt & I agree, 7.30 is just silly, isn't it?

make me go to the airport.

TooTicky · 09/09/2007 18:30

Ooh Ernest, I'm vegan Well, with the exception of decent honey. Animal or health reasons or a combination of the two?

TooTicky · 09/09/2007 18:31

You are in Switzerland too?

ahundredtimes · 09/09/2007 18:31

Oh dear BBee, I think it was alright. It made me laugh.

TooTicky · 09/09/2007 18:32

Do you have local organic box schemes or anything?
