For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Detox is probably done all wrong. One day of water and lemon juice, followed by two days of fruit only and then for the next three you can introduce vegetables.

But I almost fell of the wagon yesterday because of Lullaby's recipes and the stonking great headache that I had.

I don't usually get to the vegetable part withour cracking or cheating a little. It is harsh.

lionheart · 05/09/2007 13:51

Give us another clue, Idris--Biblical, New Age, Ancient Greek?

zippitippitoes · 05/09/2007 13:52

I've used that green liquid you buy in holland and barratt and add to water..is that not the right thing to do at all?

TooTicky · 05/09/2007 13:53

We're not talking about washing up liquid here are we Zippi....

lionheart · 05/09/2007 14:00

Is that for detox or some mysterious Egyptian ritual? I may have lost the thread.

3andnomore · 05/09/2007 14:10

lol Zippi, I have seen something like a detox drink in H&B...never tried it, tbh!

Lionheart, oh that sounds tough... I have only ever done Jason Vales Detox (7Ibs in 7 days...he hates the title, btw....), which is Juices for 7 days (up to 5 x day), and I must say I didn't find it difficult at all to follow it..I then followed his 14 day Turbocharge programme, which was still juices and introducing some lighter meals, etc...back into the diet...slowly but surely! The coolest, if maybe weirdest sideeffect was, lol, tmi...that my sweat stopped smelling altogether...I get really easily paranoid about my BO's, lol....it was cool not to worry for a while

Overrun · 05/09/2007 14:13

Zippie, that sounds so difficult for you, I hope you enjoy your holiday anyway.

I have let myself down on the FandV front so far today. We are having our bathroom fitted out, and I am finding it really stressful. The house in a mess, bathroom things in strange places, and having the some one here all the time. If I hear "have you got a minute" another time, and have to go in and discuss something we have already agreed I will scream. God I sound depressingly like my Mother

TooTicky · 05/09/2007 14:22

Sympathies Overrun. I hate having Strange Persons in the house. Hope it's worth it

3andnomore · 05/09/2007 14:23

Overrun...having workmen in the house is always stressful...but think of how nice it will be afterwards, eh!

IdrisTheDragon · 05/09/2007 14:38

Ah, I have confused you - DS starts with a B and DD with an A. DS would have been Bethany, had he been a boy.

He is Old Testament type name. Not sure exactly when DD's name comes from, but gained popularity in Victorian times (I think) due to a couple of books with the name as a central character. DD actually named after DH's granny (who was not quite around in Victorian times, although not far off it - she is 96 and still going very strong).

DD might have been Alex, had she been a boy. And that's not too far from her name .

lionheart · 05/09/2007 14:39

Alyssa?

lionheart · 05/09/2007 14:40

Barnabus?

Boco · 05/09/2007 14:55

Annabelle
and
Bartholemew
or Benjamin

Boco · 05/09/2007 14:57

100xS dd - Freya is hairy sounding? Like frayed?

If not, must be Abigail, or Grace, or Olivia.

Ds - Jack, Richard, Alex?

IdrisTheDragon · 05/09/2007 14:59

Boco you have DS right .

(can you tell I am bored at work right now and can't be bothered to do what I should be doing).

Boco · 05/09/2007 15:02

oh and i have had corn on the cob, tomatoes, lettuce and watermelon.

Went to the library to look for books with dogs in as that's what i'm supposed to be drawing rather than facebook drawing - and dd2 or 'Ron', decided to sing a made up song about dead dogs very loudly in the otherwise silent library. It went 'dead dogs, dead dogs, we don't really like dead dogs, oh no, the dog is dead, dead dogs dead dogs are not very niiiice'

Boco · 05/09/2007 15:03

Idris Bart or Ben?

I was sure it was Annabelle. Ok, Amelia? Love that name. DDs friend is called Amelia and they call her Mimi.

IdrisTheDragon · 05/09/2007 15:05

Ben (although he does not feel that is an appropraite name - he is firmly Benjamin ). He says that people called Ben at pre-school have names "a bit like mine".

DD had two books written about her name sake by a mathematician from Oxford. I really like Amelia though - DS has a friend called Amelia.

Boco, is it you going to the dentist? Or have you been. I have to go again tomorrow. I will be going for the rest of my life. Urgh.

Boco · 05/09/2007 15:09

Ah ok, got it, as in Wonderland?

IdrisTheDragon · 05/09/2007 15:13

That's the one .

I am losing track of how old anyone else's DC are - apart fro knowing Franny's DS is 4 and there are some babies under a year and some at school I am hopeless .

Overrun · 05/09/2007 15:20

Thanks for the empathy As you say it will be worth it in the end - I hope

Newsflash ....I have had another nectarine

Boco · 05/09/2007 15:20

3andnomore · 05/09/2007 15:24

Oh, and my Kids are 3y , 4 3/4 y and 11 y!

filthymindedvixen · 05/09/2007 16:17

I hate being at work and being able to be on here

Franny, just to add that little boys have a huge surge of testostrone around the ages of 4-5years which can come as a shock if your dear boy has hitherto been angelic.
That's why they can suddenly become boisterous, adventurous, clumsy and erm, arsey!

It usually settles down (a little!) by the time they start school and then becomes a background rumble until they build up to puberty...ho hum.

3andnomore · 05/09/2007 16:24

fmv...I have 3 boys, and never knew about that surge in testosterone at that age...!
