Has Phil got any super tips for getting hips back in trim?
I would love a personal trainer - no excuse if you're booked in you can't talk yourself out of it so easily!

the flat of your back is your lower back. Actually I suppose it should be the small of your back actually. Propped up on forearms, ie from your elbow to your hands.

SSSandy2 · 03/09/2007 08:32

Well girls I did it but I think I did something wrong. I can't feel my tummy muscles and they're slack so I should be aching. What is aching though is my lower back!

So maybe I was somehow exercising my back by mistake and not the stomach muscles.

Hmm back to the drawing board... I am determined to master this now

BandofMothers · 03/09/2007 08:41

your back will ache too, mine did and my thighs.

You make big circles with your legs, bring your legs as close to your body as you can when making circles with your legs, imagine your drawing a circle with your tiptoes on the ceiling or something.

BoM I really dont think you shoould be doing any tummy excersises if your stomach muscles are parted by pregnancy, have you spoken to your GP about it???

Actually I might ask Phil to show me the excersise again tape it on my mobile and see if I can download it on facebook....course then he might get wind of it and charge me..... wont be for a while either, it's a busy period workwise.

zippitippitoes · 03/09/2007 08:43

point at th ceiling...I can barely get them off the floor

how do you know whether your muscles are parted?

mine are still sore from my attempts on saturday!!!!

when I came out of hospital after having dd1 I was given a leaflet outlining stomach excerises, and there was a diagram which showed how to check your stomach muscles were back together before starting on some of the more complex excersises.
You can actually feel the split between the muscles post partum....scared me into ignoring excerising till dd2 turned 2....

fuzzywuzzy · 03/09/2007 08:48

zippi, if it's too sore just do them as they feel comfortable, and then increase numbers, and point to the ceiling etc as it gets easier.

SSSandy2 · 03/09/2007 08:50

I don't think my circles were big enough. Drat. I was concentrating on keeping my hips on the floor.

I'll have another go now.

zippitippitoes · 03/09/2007 08:52

I think we should all put tummy pics on profiles for before and after

Well, how far apart do they have to be. If I poke inbetween them it feels like a ridge on either side. But then I haven't exercised much since she was born. I don't know if they are or not.

BandofMothers · 03/09/2007 08:56

My circles were not very big, do you try and make them bigger as you get better at it???

Ulysees · 03/09/2007 09:13

My circles weren't big enough by the sounds of it. Will try again today.

SSSandy2 · 03/09/2007 09:20

Ulysses, I saw that strapless dress you're wearing to the wedding. You don't even NEED this exercise! You lucky thing.

Ulysees · 03/09/2007 09:26

Oh I do SSSandy2. I would need some control under it so hopefully with these exercises I can save money I am slim but have always had a little pot belly.

SSSandy2 · 03/09/2007 09:27

Ah well that's alright then

So let's all get back on the floor then and stick our legs up!
