I was thinking top of hips, but they didn't seem to be on the floor. I was just thinking tho that if you leave the small of your back on the floor then you aren't at a 45 degree angle.
GTG now, but will be back to see if fuzzy has anything more to add, ie a PICTURE >

MrsSpoon · 01/09/2007 12:30

Doesn't make any sense to me, should you be rotating both legs at the same time or just one at a time?

Aitch · 01/09/2007 16:38

i'm goiing to try this later but agree we really need a fuzzycam.

Ulysees · 01/09/2007 18:32

I must be doing this wrong, seemed too easy? So do I circle 10 times each way and do the same exercise 10 times? Maybe I'm circling wrong?

Idreamofdaleks · 01/09/2007 18:33

tummy tuck where they sew the muscles back together

zippitippitoes · 02/09/2007 09:37

hi fellow jelly bellies

so, i followed ghostys instructions and just about managed 10 each way. pretty small circles tho

am about as motivated atm as a piece of turd in a bush, but the sound of fortnight results from twice a day is too much to pass up...

fuzzywuzzy · 02/09/2007 12:38

sorry about disappearing so suddenly yesterday, had to go to mothers to celebrate Sptember b'days.

I'm not putting a pic of myself on my profile (I hate havign my picture taken, there are no known ones in existance..barring my wedding ones).

Ghosty's instructions actually sound pretty much spot on, if anyone needs pictures have a look at the first position in pilates, the body is supposed to be pretty much like that, but legs are meant to be straight, your forearms are supposed to be on the floor helping you rest your weight.
If you feel like your weight is all concentrated on the small of your back, lie back a bit more.
And keep your chin tucked into your chest.

You're stomach muscles are meant to feel sore the next day if your doing it correctly.

I dont yet have my old stomach back (as I've not been doing the excerises religiously), but my stomach has toned and now doesn't take threee seconds to follow the rest of my body when I turn over in bed, and doesn't jiggle when I run for the bus either.....both good things I feel.

Saker · 02/09/2007 18:39

I don't know anything about Pilates but what you are describing sounds quite advanced if you haven't used your stomach muscles for some time IYKWIM . I would recommend normal half sit-ups where you lie on your back with knees bent, keep the small of your back pressed to the ground. Hands behind the head, neck relaxed - actually try to rest your head on your hands rather than supporting it with your neck. Sit up half way trying to use your stomach muscles to pull you up () and come back down. Important to breathe out as you come up and in as you come down. Try to keep your head in a line with the body and your eyes looking towards the ceiling ahead of you rather than bending your neck and looking towards your feet.
Why not get a dvd such as "I want those abs" by Tamilee Webb here

Saker · 02/09/2007 18:45

If you look at this and scroll down to the dvd called "ab hits", and watch the clip, the first bit has her doing sit ups with her feet up on a step but you don't need your feet up (although it can help to keep your back flat) and also doing sit ups to the side to work the oblique muscles.

zippitippitoes · 02/09/2007 18:46

I tried to do this again today but my muscles are too sore from yeserday!

shall try that

so fuzzy, do we have our elbows bent? I did them but it wasn't hard so I couldn't have been doing them right.

BandofMothers · 02/09/2007 19:06

Well I have managed to do ten, each way twice a day for 2 days now and my tummy hurts a bit. I also feel it in my thighs at the front esp above my knees.
I think I have it with the hips too.

Thanks Fuzzywuzzy. Will keep you all posted to see if they are any different in a couple of weeks. But to be honest anything will be an improvement as they were still jellified from having DD2 who is now a year old
I think they have separated a bit too, anyone know if these exercises will correct that or are you basically stuck with it???

SSSandy2 · 02/09/2007 19:12

I NEED to learn the fuzzy one. I really need to.

OK so elbows are BEANT and holding your weight, chin is DOWN, flat of your back is pressed down and you raise both legs TOGETHER and then circle them. Going to have a bash at this.

But are the legs high up in the air, did anyone say, or are they low down?

SSSandy2 · 02/09/2007 19:14

Could we not have a picture of Phil doing this?

BandofMothers · 02/09/2007 19:14

45 degree angle on the legs, so quite high. You can't really do it any lower whilst keeping the flat of your back on the floor anyway

SSSandy2 · 02/09/2007 19:15

ok thanks. Better get on the floor and tackle it now!

NappiesGalore · 02/09/2007 19:39

eh? what is 'the flat of your back'?

is your back on the floor? or are we propped up on (bent) elbows?

i, like ulysees, found it too easy. i must be doing it wrong

cluelessnchaos · 02/09/2007 19:42

are your legs straight?

NappiesGalore · 02/09/2007 19:49

mine? yes.

NappiesGalore · 02/09/2007 19:52

phew

ok

just done agin.

this time, back on floor, legs at 45dgrees to floor, and legs straight and together in big circles... just managed 10 slow each way with no pause between

man, thats hard. twice a day? righto. i expect resuls!!
