For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

IdrisTheDragon · 30/08/2007 13:18

There is a lot of talking on here . Such a shame that work gets in the way .

Tomato, avacado (also mozeralla) in my baguette. Person in sandwich bit downstairs was trying to press Mayonnaise on me. Why?

zippitippitoes · 30/08/2007 13:21

actually if it is a potential one off i think i should make it west end hwereveras he looks wealthy

filthymindedvixen · 30/08/2007 13:21

we have less than 300 posts to get a new title!!

Zippi, if you are meeting a 'stranger' stick to familiar territory.

Idris - well done, that's the spirit. You are good at keeping us on track. I am mostly eating fruit today

zippitippitoes · 30/08/2007 13:23

oh i know but that sounds very dull and then he would be wanting to stay somewhere wouldn't he..he's not going to get back to london

zippitippitoes · 30/08/2007 13:23

worry not dd1 will boss me about

filthymindedvixen · 30/08/2007 13:24

get yerself 'up west' then lady

IdrisTheDragon · 30/08/2007 13:38

I have my appraisal in approximately 22 minutes. I am worried I will start talking about raisins. I have already told too many people about this today .

zippitippitoes · 30/08/2007 14:27

have been had "lunch" with dd1 in starbucks

my "lunch" was a large americano

this is my second cup of coffee this week

I am now far too over excited

and will reveal that I actually am probably the only person on mumsnet with no shoes apart from my trainers and a rather yuk pair of footgloves sort of bootie things which i bought to hide under a horrid suit for an interview as an immigration officer last year

and i only have jeans

Boco · 30/08/2007 18:14

Oh Zippi, west end dates need nice shoes and skirts, you must do something about that.

We went to the castle in the village and there was a story teller telling stories. He was great. He was wearing a hat and a battered and slightly odd suit, and had long hair, and i found him very attractive. Afterwards, he changed into his usual clothes, which included a black and white sporty looking fleece, and took his hat off and all the appeal left instantly. I just told dp, and he was very understanding and said that he would never wear a fleece.

Am trying to find a hotel in London - going away with dp and no children tomorrow for the whole weekend. All my plans this summer have been jinxed and nothing has gone according to plan and i haven't had a holiday and nothing nice has happened even camping, and i'm fed up and i demand something nice. But can't decided.

Franny, if you read this, where do you and greeny stay? Can you recommend anywhere lastminute. Looked at that covent garden one but its booked up apart from a single room.

Going to the rivoli ball room on saturday night i think. Will wear a dress and heels and drink cocktails.

Boco · 30/08/2007 18:15

IDRIS - hope the appraisal went well!

zippitippitoes · 30/08/2007 18:17

my ds has stayed in the bentley hotel he says that is nice, but i think it's quite expensive

ahundredtimes · 30/08/2007 18:35

Well that was dire. We had half of M&S in our basket (ds2 growling, with good reason, 'do you think they make it so hot in here on purpose) when got to till and realized I didn't have my card with me.

Back to house, back into town etc etc etc.

Anyway it's done. Even haircuts, which aren't a particularly easy thing with the ds's, but we have found a barbers where these twins work, and ds's are so intrigued to look at them working side by side that they quite forget how incredibly irritating it is to have people touch their hair etc.

Boco - how much do you want to spend? Have you tried lastminute? You can get good last minute discounts.

Zippi - You are very good at this. Are you going? I think you should have lunch with him first Can we find you an outfit? Can we? Please?

ahundredtimes · 30/08/2007 18:43

This might help Boco is mr and mrs smiths late availability page

ahundredtimes · 30/08/2007 18:44

They're a bit pricey though. I'm going to keep on looking.

ahundredtimes · 30/08/2007 18:47

any of these?

ahundredtimes · 30/08/2007 18:57

The Zetter in Clerkenwell has a room for you Boco, is £130 a night though

ahundredtimes · 30/08/2007 18:58

I think The Zetter is very you.

I'm going to stop if you don't come back and play.

Boco · 30/08/2007 19:02

I like the Zetter - dp would especially like it, he always wanted a garret in clerkenwell. I particularly like the hot water bottles on request including hand knitted hot water bottle covers. Maybe it gets drafty on the roof there.

My budget is embarrassingly low. About £170 for the two nights. I've found a lastminute deal by portland st tube that looks ok. I'd like to be central as possible - not too far into paddington.

ahundredtimes · 30/08/2007 19:10

Your budget is very sensible actually, I can't believe how much these places dare charge. DH is ranting on a daily basis now about how expensive this country is, he says it has become embarassing.

Oh good. Your weekend is going to happen.

ahundredtimes · 30/08/2007 19:12

I think people should be charged huge amounts of money if they can't spell embarrassing properly. That would be both embarrassing and a good way of getting us into that roof room at The Zetter.

Boco · 30/08/2007 19:16

So, y'know how lastminute do this secret room thing, i don't know if it's a total con - they say they won't tell you the name of the hotel until you book because the hotel wants to keep it a secret how much discount they're offering or something.

What do you think of this would it be a hole?

[i hope no one minds me doing this on the veg thread, should i move? if anyone is bothered i'll start a thread and not clog up the f&v]

FrannyandZooey · 30/08/2007 19:23

Boco we always book way in advance and get the cheap rooms (£20 a night last time!) but before we had ds, dp and I used to like staying here - we liked its big corporate swishness (we were sometimes hard up and it seemed so luxurious) - they always had last minute deals, look on the special offers bit.

BBB what did you want to ask me? You can email me if it is too personal...

Avi HOORAH! It's so beautiful, it's all new and pale and clean. Ours is quite scuffed up as it was second hand - yours looks insanely nice. I am so glad you got it and I think ds will have many happy times with it. Has he loved it, so far?

I feel a bit that this thread potters along so completely happily without me. Hard to accept that one is not indispensable. HC has gone now [boo]. I am a big knackered. Have eaten stuff, but not as much fruit as usual (not been time really)

Welcome new people. It's been a bit of a blur but I am sure you have been beautifully looked after.

Thanks everyone who has emailed about the meet up and sorry I haven't replied yet.

OP posts:
Boco · 30/08/2007 19:34

Franny, it potters, but it's not the same when you're not here, everyones pining and just making do.

Ok now i'm going to decide between Frannys, which is 157 for the 2 nights, in big modern building, or this one
which is close to where we're going to meet friends for exhibition

Someone tell me what they think and i promise i'll stop and talk only of roughage.

ahundredtimes · 30/08/2007 19:38

Franny's has a pool - do you think you might want to swim? If not, your one because have you seen the photo of the barmen poised to serve and the frightened intimidated looking lady in bulky black suit?

It is for this photo alone I want you to there.
