For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Expat, we want recipes please
My dcs struggle with the sweetness of pumpkins and squashes and I have to hide them quite cunningly.

Oh, cantaloupe. Ah.

expatinscotland · 29/08/2007 22:47

Ticky, if you're ever in Edinburgh, come to the farmer's market up here! Every Sat. from 9AM-2PM. I'm happy to say that in the 5 years we've been doing the bulk of our shopping here, this market has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the best I've been to.

TooTicky · 29/08/2007 22:48

They struggle with sweetness in vegetables. Maybe because it's so unexpected. Perhaps I'm just not serving them the right way.

Expat, I'll bear it in mind. I have a friend in Edinburgh. And I'd love to see the castle. I'd love to visit Scotland.

TooTicky · 29/08/2007 22:51

We have triffids too. They attack me when I'm reaching for carrots.

expatinscotland · 29/08/2007 22:52

The market is in Castle Terrace, Ticky, right at the foot of the castle. You could do your shopping and then stroll up to the Castle.

TooTicky · 29/08/2007 22:57

Perhaps if I booked train tickets a year in advance they'd be affordable....

Tatties · 29/08/2007 23:15

Avi you are right about Guadaloupe

IdrisTheDragon · 29/08/2007 23:26

Can I have a special prize for having taken DS (and DD who rather had to tag along as well) to A&E on a raisin related incident?

DS felt that a raisin needed to be pushed up his nose (he was pretending to be a mouse ) and so we spent a luckily short time having it extracted. This venture obviously happened just before bedtime, which got rather extended.

This is also my excuse for a lamentably poor supper, the contents of which I am not going to share .

Lullabyloo · 30/08/2007 08:11

It's raining.....and cold.....and I have eaten a large bowl of pear,apple,raisin & cinnamon porridge & a glass of carrot,apple & ginger juice.

Where can I buy a long sleeved painting smock for ds to take to nursery..not plastic/pvc...but cotton????????

Lullabyloo · 30/08/2007 08:12

Idris......oh dear

NotReallyHerePossum · 30/08/2007 08:25

Idris - hope the raisin-stuffing mouse is back to normal now
TooTicky - you remind me with your brood of Mrs Large in 'Five Minutes' Peace' I love that book.
speaking of which, LL - I hope you manage to get your five minutes peace today and some rest.

IdrisTheDragon · 30/08/2007 08:44

Morning .

Just to continue on the raisin theme for a moment; you would be surprised how much a raisin that has been in a 3.9 year old's nostril swells up after just an hour. But I will leave those thoughts behind me.

So far today one banana and some fruit salad. And muesli. And water.

Lullabyloo · 30/08/2007 08:45

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

zippitippitoes · 30/08/2007 08:58

now i probably shouldn't ask this but i am wondering what you think

I sent an email and had an answer...not sure what the question is but something like do you think this bloke is humouring me or likes me..or another question that i haven't asked

the email i sent and his answer are on my profile..I've found a novel use for the profile!

we have exchanged quite a lot of messages quite alot of drivel and innuendo tbh

will get myself some breakfast

filthymindedvixen · 30/08/2007 09:05

my um said I should stride in with a plum. I was a little baffled and thought 10/10 was going to my head rather. She meant Aplomb . But I still rather like the idea of marching into claridges with a punnet of finest Victorias...I could go for the rich but eccentric card!

(actually I have visions of them peering at us before whispering ''ah yes. You are the poor unwashed competition winners. Follow me to the Charlie Bucket Suite...'' and we end up in a cardboard box by the kitchens for the weekend )
