She obviously quite mad and unable to read charts. Your daughter looks perfect.

LizaRose · 23/08/2007 21:53

Charts are for guidance only. Does she want dd to be a skeleton?

marthamoo · 23/08/2007 21:54

Agree with DwD - HV is clearly quite mad.

TheArmadillo · 23/08/2007 21:54

ignore her.

It's obviously bollocks.

maureenmlove · 23/08/2007 21:54

HVs! You gotta love 'em! What is she on?

Tommy · 23/08/2007 21:54

My HV implied my ds would never walk cos he wasn't weight bearing on his legs at 7 months - now he's 17mths and guess what....he's FINE. DO they have to go to college to learn this stuff????

paulaplumpbottom · 23/08/2007 21:58

There is no common sense. They are like robots with their charts

OP posts:
paulaplumpbottom · 23/08/2007 21:59

Thanks MyJobisMum. I'm pretty crazy about her

OP posts:
moany · 23/08/2007 22:02

What a cutie, and a very slim one at that! take no notice

CarGirl · 23/08/2007 22:02

I wonder if

a, her scales were wrong
b, she wrote down the weight wrong

or

c, she is blind

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 23/08/2007 22:03

HV always state that dd2 is overweight, as she is right on the top line now (was off it at one point). but she is also excessively tall and skinny as a rake.

LittleBella · 23/08/2007 22:03

This HV is obviously more than usually thick.

Or terribly insecure. How sad that she has such little confidence in her own judgement, that she uses a chart instead of her eyes and common sense.

There must be something about their training, that utterly disempowers them. Too many of them are so fixated on their wretched charts, it can't be because they were all chart maniacs when they went into the job, it must be because of some aspect of their training and job-culture which pushes them towards chart-frenzy.

Charlee · 23/08/2007 22:03

Or D - She is a moron?

paulaplumpbottom · 23/08/2007 22:05

More like a blind moron.

the senior registrar told me dd3 was very overweight, she was on the 98th centile for her weight.

I was fuming and pointed out to him that I completely understood what the centiles meant and seeing that she was also on the 98th centile for her height that presumably she was in proportion........

paulaplumpbottom · 23/08/2007 22:06

DD is tall for her age, do you think thats whats gone wrong on her chart?

OP posts:
Liska · 23/08/2007 22:08

My dd is 18 weeks, and moved from 25th to 50th centile in her first 16 weeks. At last weigh in, she had moved up again to stupid centile line marked '75th'!! Turned out HV had worked out her age wrong and put the cross in the wrong place [sigh].

Funny thing is though, she told me not to worry cos its just a chart and 'she looks fine'.

You gotta love 'em.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 23/08/2007 22:08

probably., dd2 also right on the top for her height, if not off them again. she hops on and off those lines al lthe time.

HV told me to put her o na diet at a year old as she was off the charts, i told them to check her height (she was wearinf age 2-3 clothes) and i pointed out that dd2 was operfectly in proportion and enver went back to them.

paulaplumpbottom · 23/08/2007 22:09

Liska thank your lucky stars that you have a sensible one

OP posts:
paulaplumpbottom · 23/08/2007 22:09

Thats probably what it is then my Lady

12lbnaturally · 23/08/2007 22:10

My dd is over the 99 centile for height and weight, but I don't take any notice. She is fit and well and happy. Someimes I think health professionals take too much notice of charts and not enough of how the child actually is.

Charlee · 23/08/2007 22:10

I like my HV although she isn't always helpfull, i wnet to speak to her about ds's bad behaviour she said,

'hmm its hard isnt it'

And that was it!

Cheers Luv, that really helped!
