FAB TITLE BY FMF (AND BBB)

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

You and all my fellow sealed knotters Mrs C.

When are you off to Edinburgh?

Franny's a long time isn't she? Those members of her friend's parenting site are AMAZED. She's passing on years of MN information in one day. They're going to crown her I think.

MrsCarrot · 17/08/2007 18:46

I think I used the french feminists to argue that she was only neurotic not psychotic, well, in the world of psychoanalysis anyway. Of course I wouldn't suggest for a second that she
wasn't actually speaking to God.

I had a tuna nicoise salad in town and did not find a new skirt.

MrsCarrot · 17/08/2007 18:48

fellow sealed knotters? What are they, am I stupid?

Off to Edinburgh next friday but we driving due to F's ear infection

MrsCarrot · 17/08/2007 18:49

When are you off, 100x?

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2007 18:52

I think Sealed Knot is the name of a reenactment society. I don't know.

Off tomorrow MrsC. Afternoon flight. Am so excited by the prospect of sun I can't tell you.

When Edinburgh? I thought you were going to fly up today?

MrsCarrot · 17/08/2007 18:54

No, next Friday, the bank holiday weekend. I am looking forward to it. What sun, where are you off to?

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2007 18:55

Mallorca.

Is that poncy, should I write Majorca.

I told dh yesterday that it wasn't until this week that I realized Mallorca and Majorca were actually the SAME place. He rolled his eyes heavenward.

I need some of BB and Boco's dp's maps I think.

One week. Heaven.

lionheart · 17/08/2007 19:00

Are you a history graduate MrsC, or do you lean more towards the arts?

We could say that it was Franny that partook of the re-enactment, at least until she or the real time-traveller shows up.

FrayedKnot · 17/08/2007 19:03

I just popped in to lurk and even polssibly join today as I have been EVER so good with my fruit & veg these last few days, and feel I may pass muster..

anyway was somewhat perturbed by teh lack of mentioning of any fruit and veg at all, until I read down a bit and realized that not only does DH have "his own room and it is like some kind of nest with loads of books and computers and keyboards and medals and cameras and helmets and stuff" but he also actually used to do re-enactments (before my day, I have to add)

I feel right at home

Anyway I can fill the gap while you are all on holiday

Today I have had lettuce, cucumber tomato, courgettes, aubergine, peppers, strawbs

I am fine with veg, fruit is a challenge and today was not a good day for fruit.

I pushed DS on trike uphill with two heavy bags of shopping so am I exempt from the rower tonight?

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2007 19:09

Hurray Frayedknot. Welcome.

You've done very well. Fruit and veg does get a look in sometimes - not with me much it should be said, but some people on here are very impressive.

More swords at yours then? What's going on? I'm going to ask dh why he's never collected swords and what on earth is the matter with him.

MrsCarrot · 17/08/2007 19:36

I have been very confused. I thought Frayedknot was Sealedknot and it was Franny telling us off for not talking about vegetables

Welcome Frayedknot - some days we talk almost entirely about food and health and others the complete opposite. It is good here though.

100x - You lucky thing I need some sun. Well, I got quite brown in cornwall but I need to lie in it for a long time with a tall drink and a book and no interruptions. That will be a while coming I think. Have fun! You will come back when I go I think.

Boco - Your stepmother sounds a nightmare. Why don't you secretly give her dogs something that makes them do stenching farts (while being completely harmless of course animal lovers) At least you got a lunch out today.

MrsCarrot · 17/08/2007 19:40

Lionhart - arts not history, it was a black and white Bresson film. Hearing about other people's diss is akin to their dreams, no?

I am no further in buying an exercise bike by the way. I am thinking of getting a real one, though as dh correctly points out, I couold use his if I really was goiong to go and cycle in the evenings and I haven't done that yet.

I am having tuna steak, with samphire and corn on the cob, our own tomatoes followed by raspberries.

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2007 19:42

Oh fgs what is samphire MrsC

Boco · 17/08/2007 19:42

Where did you go to college MrsC, i like hearing about college. What did you do? What did everyone do and where did they go?

FrayedKnot · 17/08/2007 19:43

I've never had samphire MrsC

Where would one purchase it and how does one cook it, exactly?

DS has expressed interest lately that people can actually eat seaweed

lionheart · 17/08/2007 19:46

What about the weather MrsC and the winter? Or will you start pedalling now and be made of stern and hardy stuff by the time the nights draw in?

I am considering a real bike too.

I don't mind hearing about them, MrsC. Reading them is another matter entirely.

MrsCarrot · 17/08/2007 19:51

Oooh questions questions

100x, even you must have heard of samphire!!

It's a seaweed, and it grows on the marsh. It is found in abundance in North Norfolk abd ususally we pick it but today I bought it at the grocers.

Frayedknot - I boil or steam it lightly and you sort of suck it off the stem. It's a bit like a salty asparagus.

Boco - I went to art school in Norwich, then the UEA for ma.

Lionhart - hmm yes, cycling in winter

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2007 19:53

Well, now, I really didn't know that. I heard this article on Radio 4 all about borage. Have you ever had that?

FrayedKnot · 17/08/2007 20:05

MrsC where do you live?

Sorry it's anoterh question

I may be at your reply.

Boco · 17/08/2007 20:05

Dp likes samphire, you can get it in the fishmongers - i find it a bit salty.

No, 100x, it's spelt porridge - it's lumpy grey stuff that tastes better with golden syrup or brown sugar.

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2007 20:07

NO honestly, Borage. Or maybe Borridge? Who knows. Makes good honey, is good for arthiritis and things. Yes, borage.

Boco · 17/08/2007 20:10

Isn't it a flower? I seem to remember something about it being good for menopausal things.

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2007 20:14

Hmm. A herb maybe? I just thought MrsC might have it in her omlettes or something.

Empty suitcases. Time ticks on. DCs all weaving about the place with their 'packed' rucksacks. DD has a tupperware box, 2 cars, 1 pencil and a doll's head in hers.

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2007 20:17

I'm not looking for sympathy, obviously, I do not deserve such a thing.

i am just displacing here. Looking out the window. Whistling. Lazy. Talking into cyber space about borage.

ALSO this woman was talking to me very seriously about cosmic ordering the other day. She cosmically ordered her nutritionist apparantly. What do you think to that then?

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2007 20:20

You've all gone to put your dcs to bed, while mine hang about here with dirty hair and silly rucksacks and empty suitcases.

Blast. Better go I suppose.
