For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

LOL avi please share your mental image. Did you spend any serious money yet or are you still warming up with wooden aubergines?

PSW sorry but I have forgotten where you live...

Zippi it sounds hard work. All that adrenalin as well. We haven't arranged the meet up yet but I am on the case, don't worry.

MrsC I am planning to be working more in the Autumn. Oh dear

it's the way fruit is brought up these days...rapid growth to premature adolescence and then it stays there for ever before a sudden decadent demise without ever reaching proper maturity

Lullabyloo · 09/08/2007 09:04

hello chaps...meet up,meet up....where where where????????

Am feeling slightly better,am on warfarin now, pain in leg bearable, getting some sleep & finger no longer black.
Pain in back most peculiar though..makes me feel very sick
Still...Saturday is looming & then I will have proper answers from the consultant & smart hospital hopefully

avi.....that kitchen is beeeeeeeeautiful
can we come & play please?
ds loves his shop......the egg box with wooden eggs i his absolute favourite

am waiting for ds's shoes to dry....he managed to run into a bog yesterday chasing a frisbee....he is turning a lovely shade of purple from the copious amounts of blackberries he shovels into his mouth every time we go out.

Lullabyloo · 09/08/2007 09:05

franny...am fed up with stringy rotten mangoes
finally had a good one yesterday

Lullabyloo · 09/08/2007 09:06

please say the meet up is in London....about the only place i can actually get to by train easily.........

FrannyandZooey · 09/08/2007 09:07

Oh Lullaby, great to see you! Roll on Saturday. Glad things have improved slightly - what a worrying time for you.

Looks like I had better get into gear about this meet up. Let me just get back from London and I will get organising. Oh, which reminds me, I will start a new thread on Sunday before I go if that's ok. From experience, me and Greeny will be on the hotel pc before breakfast in the morning , but I can't bank on it. She might not let me have a turn

Lullabyloo · 09/08/2007 09:09

noooooooooooooooooooo.....not suffolk

zippitippitoes · 09/08/2007 09:12

good luck for your appointment lullabyloo

and nice weekend for you and greeny franny

MrsCarrot · 09/08/2007 09:13

Like pears and their blink-and-you-miss-it ripeness, I've had loads of mangoes get black spots before parts of it is ripe. So annoying.

F has hospital appointment today so hopefully they'll have some allergy answers. I've eaten a little dairy this week along with the wheat for my ceoliac test and he sounds suitably like an old mucousy man again so at least consultant can see what I mean poor thing.

It's odd though, I have enjoyed a biscuit or something with it in but actual butter and milk tastes rank now, sort of sour and acidic, like I used to think butter tasted whenI was little, maybe we just get used to it.

2 kiwis, a banana and an apple.

Franny - NO WORK IN THE AUTUMN, you nutter, better stock up on the sea greens

Toot - I waved to you as we passed, not sure it was in the right direction but the sentiment was there

MrsCarrot · 09/08/2007 09:14

Hello LL, glad you are feeling a little better, sounded dreadful.

zippitippitoes · 09/08/2007 09:18

I got some of those reduced yello w flesh nectarines last night..maybe i should rush downstairs and see if they all need eating now

cue another tummy ache like i had yesterday

fillyjonk · 09/08/2007 10:25

I might actually MEET A MNETTER at the end of this month though, am very excited. Though probably I won't as am a bit jinxed in this regard.

FrannyandZooey · 09/08/2007 10:26

fillyjonk · 09/08/2007 10:27

another secret meet up, I see.

MrsCarrot · 09/08/2007 11:03

I was supposed to go a to a postnatal meet next week in London but I can't go now. Very disappointing. I am listening out for a 10/10 one though

Was the banana cake recipe very many threads ago or scan someone be bothered to remind me please? I have a lot of brown bananas and my nigella one, though delicious, is very sugary and rum laden. I have one more day to eat a wheat one.

MrsCarrot · 09/08/2007 11:03

to-go-to

I can actually speak properly

Tatties · 09/08/2007 11:56

God it was AGES before I decided I liked dp enough to let him be my boyfriend, let alone move in with him.

Franny about shuffle... one of mine was a bit nippy on the ankle to begin with, but it's ok now. Hope you have a good time in London, how long are you away for? Oh, btw, I may be interested in reading the Child in the Woods book when you are finished - if that's ok and Lionheart agrees?

LL glad to hear things are improving a bit.

Avi I will email you that pattern, just been a bit hectic this week. (Actually, it is part of a baby layette set, do you want the whole thing?)

MrsC I think I have the banana cake recipe saved somewhere, let me see if I can find it.

I really need to go to the gym tonight.

Tatties · 09/08/2007 11:58

Here you go!

4 oz self raising wholemeal flour
half tsp mixed spice
2 oz butter
3 oz raisins
8 oz banana
1 egg, beaten

Preheat oven to 180 / gm 4.

Mix flour and spice, rub in butter and stir in raisins. In a separate bowl, mash the banana and egg. Stir into the flour mixture and put into a well-greased tin (fills a small loaf tin I think or I usually double up the quantities and put it in an 8" circular cake tin). Turn oven down to GM 3 / 160 C and cook on the middle shelf for 1 hour or until cooked.

MrsCarrot · 09/08/2007 12:06

Great, thanks, Tatties, I'll make that today

3andnomore · 09/08/2007 12:47

Hi All....
as for fruit....hm... 1/4 of a small watermelon, and that was it ....will get better honest...! Does Humous count, by the way...just had that with Pitta bread..lol...there are chickpeas in it, aren't there...
Anyways, meet up in London shoud be doable for me...can get from Kettering to London StPancras straight...and tis not far to Kettering...

Lullaby, glad you are feeling better...hope you finally get your answers at your appoinment....best of luck for it!
Speak later all...oh and Franny and Greeny....hope you have a great time together...

IF we were ever to have a 10/10 meet-up, and IF it were in London, might anyone be able to put Tatties and I up anywhere near at all? (we are sort of on the same train line..) She's very nice and I am only filthy in mind, not in person...?
