For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Okay. I've been doing very well. I decided to cut all carbohydrates out, I think my legs are fat. ALSO dh has been making me play tennis. Has been exhausting, but legs are better for it. (Though we were surrounded by frightfully fit and chipper 60 yo in HRT shorts shouting 'Oh well done' to one another. Was unsettling.)

zippitippitoes · 10/08/2007 11:59

I think nest weeks thread should be called the vicar comes for afternoon tea and gets fruit and veg

ahundredtimes · 10/08/2007 12:03

Have there been vicars this week zippi? I'd be sorry to have missed out on a vicar. Is that Franny and Greeny have FAILED to email each other about?

FrannyandZooey · 10/08/2007 12:08

(I am sorry about the constant emailing discussion and its tediousness. But when one of you won't answer the phone and the other person's email doesn't seem to be working, you are a bit stuffed really)

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 10/08/2007 12:08

possibly of the vicar and tart variety

ahundredtimes · 10/08/2007 12:18

Oh dear Franny. I'm joking - I'm really not being demanding about quality postings on 10/10, I promise.

Now. Next week's title. If I come up with one, will I get a credit?

Boco · 10/08/2007 12:22

Hello, i've eaten tiffin. And a banana.

Currently playing scrabble on facebook, it's addictive, but my children have decided they don't approve and are ruining my chances.

Been for a lovely sunny country walk, sang every possible action rhyme with them at least 3 times each, we've done drawing, we've hatched seamonkeys and we've made bumblebees from pompoms, so now i think i should be allowed to play scrabble. But i'm not, so i must go and feed them.

3andnomore · 10/08/2007 13:29

TooTicky · 10/08/2007 13:39

Poo and curtains? I have missed something!!

I am hungry. Still waiting for Riverford delivery. Have been washing (3 loads on line, 2 of them in and put away, 4th in the machine...) and cleaning. Still looks a mess but I think it's a sort of reclamation of the house after the holiday.

And my fairly traded organic amazon flame brazil nuts don't taste quite as they did before we went away

3andnomore · 10/08/2007 13:47

TooT...
part of the message of Wombling last night:
By womblingalong on Thu 09-Aug-07 22:56:39

Have just finished washing poo of our living room curtains, courtesy of DD1, am fed up and knackered and am off to bed.

wow on the cleaning, etc....got teh washing machine running, too...sigh...

TooTicky · 10/08/2007 13:58

Goodness, poor Wombling!

BBBee · 10/08/2007 16:30

facebook facebook. Have tried boco - really I have and then it went all weird and said it was going to tell someone at the bbc who I worked with years ago to come to facebook and look at an ambarassing photo of me in a hat.

It is like I have unleased some naughty goblin into my computer and now he is intent on telling my university supervisor that I trim my bush with the family nail scisoors.

What have I done?

and yours is all fun and scrabble - is this karma?

BBBee · 10/08/2007 16:33

how do you poo on the curtains?

I have cut down carbs too.

franny you are stealing hc when I was hpoing to meet her at oxford meet up. Am getting all brave now have seen the real life boco.

Ended u pin town for lunch and ds had sushi from pret (the little ponce) so salad niscose tonight with no olives, no anchovies and no green beans.

I have doine well - carrots galore, bean wrap, melon, nectarine and will be huge salad.

Hm, not that well will go and eat and apple and then have a cup of coffee.

BBBee · 10/08/2007 16:35

fz am going on bat walk tonight

Boco · 10/08/2007 17:01

BBBee are you on crack today? How is facebook telling the world about your bush? Have you un-joined? I did have a hairy moment where it invited everyone in my hotmail address book to be my friend, including highly inappropriate people, like someone i'd had an email dispute with over a melted zip.

But apart from that - its quite good for finding old friends and playing scrabble.

TooTicky · 10/08/2007 17:35

Ooh, bats are great. Dd1 has a bat detector.

Riverford delivered and I have eaten an apple. Am wondering how one cooks globe artichokes.

ahundredtimes · 10/08/2007 17:37

BB have you been to Germany yet? Impatient.

FrannyandZooey · 10/08/2007 18:54

Oooh ooh so much going on here

I have had 2 apples, an avocado, beetroot, tomato, cucumber, celery. Need. More. Fruit. Must. Have. Fruit,

OP posts:
BBBee · 10/08/2007 18:56

am going to germany on tuesday. Am very excited now.

boco - no haven't unjoined - it was that whole emailing all my friends that freaked me a bit - what else is it going to do?

TT- am of the bat detector. Went on this thing last year and developed irrational crush on a bloke because he had a magenta detector. Am a nature geek.

BBBee · 10/08/2007 18:58

tell me about box deliverey things. Am thinking about getting a salad box and a fruit box. Did the normal one last time and got disheartened with all the chard and chicory nonsense. Became an expensive way to rapidily fill up compost bin.

FrannyandZooey · 10/08/2007 19:01

100 you will get a credit for the title if it is very funny, and not too long to fit your name on the end.

Boco you are fab mother indeed. I rashly told ds I had half an hour spare and could do anything he wanted, so I spent 30 mins sitting on wet grass helping him make mud soup with a stick (he is extremely splashy ) and modelling it into balls which look like cat shit. With my bare hands. I think my past lives must be catching up with me today. Anyway after that I was good for nothing all day. Still want to dip myself in bleach tbh.

I am too scared to join up for Facebook because of this emailing everyone thing. I will die if it asks people I don't know very well to be my friend. I would have to join a convent or something.

BBBee I love bats, I hope you have fun. You know I am quite inspired by the talk of forest schools and also the group that you attended, and am seriously thinking of having a session of my toddler group in a local woods. Bit scared but trying to convince myself I could do it.

Is there an Oxford meet up this Monday then? Who is going? I hope you have a good time.

Wombling I hope you have had a nice lie down

TooT that post holiday washing is always a downer

3andnomore good stuff about the antenatal teacher training

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 10/08/2007 19:04

BBBee we get a large veg box every fortnight rather than every week. I find it better because you only have to brace yourself for chicory nonsense every two weeks. The rest of the time I use organic frozen veg or cheap stuff from the greengrocers, or stuff we have grown ourselves.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 10/08/2007 19:04

Oh 100 - if you do want to do the title, let me know tomorrow as I am starting the thread early this week.
