For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I also eat Hula Hoops secretly. I was mucnhing some walking back with DS in the sling and a bit of one must have fallen on his head and got caught behnd his ear as DH found it when bathing DS, and they both looked at me quizzically

Greensleeves · 09/08/2007 22:39

You eat fruit with a knife and fork, and a napkin round your neck?

zippitippitoes · 09/08/2007 22:40

that is a lovely whoelsome image

MrsCarrot · 09/08/2007 22:40

Hello, MP

Boco - hula hoops are stuffed full of MSG, and they taste kind of slimy I think. There is something conforting about putting them on your fingers though.

What does egg-bund mean, is that constipation?

I have my bloodtest in the morning, last night of wheat was the banana cake.

Greensleeves · 09/08/2007 22:40

there isn't room in the luggage for my jewellery, I shall have to wear it all, like the Saucepan Man

BadTemperedPossum · 09/08/2007 22:44

MrsC, what exactly is MonoSodiumGlutamate and why is it so bad for you?
I must study the thread, sorry to be lazy but - what is your test for? Allergies?

FrannyandZooey · 09/08/2007 22:45

Or you could leave it behind and wear hula hoop jewellery

LOL at the hula hoop behind the ear and the quizzical looks. I like you, GrumpyPossum person

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 09/08/2007 22:46

you mean you weren't already wearing it all, Greeny? There is more??

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 09/08/2007 22:47

Has the bloody email arrived yet? I want to go watch tv and eat cooking apples and fart on the sofa.

FrannyandZooey · 09/08/2007 22:51

No it hasn't

fgs don't eat cooking apples the night before we go away

otherwise we will smell you as well as hear you coming

OP posts:
Boco · 09/08/2007 22:51

Well yes, hula hoops do taste slimy if you suck them a bit first. I did that - suck one, crunch one, suck one, crunch one. The 14 bags was just from one of those giant bags of 14. I've not eaten all 14 - oh no! Just the three.

Greeny are you emailing your dh about the arrangements? will he write back? Hope you all have fun in the hotel. Be careful going through those security things in entrances to department stores with all your jewellery on - you may get magnetised and stick to things.

MrsCarrot · 09/08/2007 22:56

I have a test for ceoliac disease, Boco, and I had to eat wheat for a week leading up it. My bowels are unhappy.

MSG is a flavour enhancer, not sure why it's bad but I think it's linked to asthma and migraines. I don't sleep very well after eating a chinese meal, it makes some people hyperactive.

womblingalong · 09/08/2007 22:56

Hello all,

Haven't checked in for a while, asaway at w/end, and my dc's have been very hard work this week, beng overtired and out of sorts (DD1) and overtired and teething and clingy (DS1).Both have been up from 5.30 for the ast two days too - aaarrrgggghhh!

Today I have had blueberries, nectarine, peas, onion, fresh fenugreek leaves, green beans, roasted lemons, pine nuts, orange juice.

Have just finished washing poo of our living room curtains, courtesy of DD1, am fed up and knackered and am off to bed.

TooTicky · 09/08/2007 23:30

Blimey, you lot have been busy this evening. What have I missed over the last 10 days? How is LL now?

I have just eaten quite a few plums which have been sealed in plastic bags in a bucket on a long hot journey from west Somerset to Wilts and they tasted strangely fizzy. Am wondering if they have fermented a little.

Desperate for f&v delivery tomorrow.
