For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I have eaten WAY more vegetables than any of you today, I shit ye not.

and speaking of shitting ye not, bananas make you egg-bound. Seriously.

Greensleeves · 09/08/2007 22:16

Don't be daft Franny, there's never any food in your house. Unless you happen to be an unusually conservative budgerigar

Eat the ruddy food then! What's up, did you forget which part of your face to put it in?

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 09/08/2007 22:22

it's not the sort of food you want to be eating at this time of night, especially when you already look like the side of a house

but I may have an apple. It'll have to be a cooking apple, but better than nothing

FrannyandZooey · 09/08/2007 22:23

I can see we are going to have another little talk about self-esteem this weekend aren't we?

MummyPossum I thought it was quite a sweet name but I can see it is perhaps ever so slightly twee

Do you need a pep talk, and by the way please don't get carried away after reading the title. Sex and drugs and sausage rolls would be a Really Bad Idea. You'd get pastry everywhere.

Hello MP, welcome to fruit and vegetable talk.

Greeny my mum always said that raw cooking apples give you griping stomach pains.

I feel that i shouldn't even be in here, as i'm eating hoola hoops. I NEVER buy crisps, or eat them, but friends came for picnic and left 14 bags of them, and now i can't stop.

I've had lots and lots of carrots and green beans, raspberries, strawberries, kiwi, 2 apples and some grapes - but the hoola hoops, they're vile but addictive.

Boco · 09/08/2007 22:30

Can we help find you a new name possum? Reminds me of dame Edna - are you anything like dame edna?

FrannyandZooey · 09/08/2007 22:32

Boco stopppppppppppp you really should NOT eat 14 bags of hula hoops. They will make you thirsty and grumpy and you will wake up in the night feeling dehydrated and strangely hungry

MP perhaps you should be MummyPossumRagingAttheGatesofHell? Just a thought.
