For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

ZoMbIeTaLcYo · 02/08/2007 09:13

muchus pomegranite juice.
Having huge battle with steroidal weight gain......

NotQuiteCockney · 02/08/2007 09:40

The nanny has come. And is going to the loo. While DS2 talks to her through the door. I love good childcare.

Filchymindedvixen · 02/08/2007 10:23

this has all moved on too swiftly for me (last night dh surprised me with a bottle of champagne and a booked restaurant...and not a minute too soon, I can tell you )

I had goats cheese tarte on bed of leaves and baby beetroot and sea bass with lemon and basil jus and green beans and petit pois. |And raisins (in my bread and butter pud )

so hugs to all who need hugging - LL
(tatts, I was really worried after I hugged you cos I did it impulsively and then panicked as not everyone appreciates being hugged..!)

FrannyandZooey · 02/08/2007 12:21

Afternoon all, have had beetroot, celery, tomato, and avocado

am v hungry actually

I hope we hear news soon Lullaby, and I hope it is good

FrannyandZooey · 02/08/2007 12:23

Talcy what's up? Sorry to hear about the steroids causing problems

FMF meal sounds swoonworthy

NQC surely she should have ds in the toilet with her harrassing her properly

Lionheart have started first chapter. V Good. And scary.

Tatties · 02/08/2007 12:32

Ooh FMV lucky you! Your meal sounds divine (and the hug was very much appreciated )

Franny I would happily send you some odds and ends (would also happily do some bits to order if you like?) Email me and let me know. What is the book about?

LL, thinking of you and everyone else not well or looking after ill children

I have had juice, a plum and will probably have some veggies and houmous for lunch

NotQuiteCockney · 02/08/2007 13:07

Well, I think the nanny got a good bit of the experience. She's very good, I've not used her before, but as she did shifts at the co-op (and I saw the excellent behaviour of her charges), I have no stress.

This morning, I reminded DS2, 'you're going out with the Nanny this morning' 'and DS1?' 'Yes' 'Not you!' - complete with finger wagging.

There's actually been a lot of 'not you!' today, it may be replacing 'an' me!'.

Oh, yes, 10/10. Have had muesli, and am having giant cup of very very chunky gazpatcho - I didn't put any water in. So it's more of a paste than a soup. Very tasty though. I keep meaning to work out how many servings are in a cup - this batch had:

  • about 14 smallish tomatoes (7 servings?)
  • two red peppers (2?)
  • a whole ridged cucumber (3?)
  • a clove of garlic (to annoy frances) For a total of 12. It makes 3-4 cups, so each cup has 3-4 servings in it. At least.

I don't know what I'm eating the rest of the day, maybe something with a giant mushroom?

Oh, yes, and had a good run, maybe 40 minutes? And a bike ride running errands.

lionheart · 02/08/2007 13:47

FmV that meal sounds fab.

tatties, this one

Talcy are you o.k?

FrannyandZooey · 02/08/2007 16:43

Tatties I need urgent shoe information

can't remember what those ones you bought were called and I MUST HAVE THEM

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 02/08/2007 16:45

Ooh, found em
but what do you think of those Rally ones next to them?

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 02/08/2007 16:52

Those look nice. Can't see what size they go up to. [stalker]

The DSes are home from their day out with the nanny, they had loads of fun, but are now just watching Rex the Runt again. I think I will have to break the tape. We'll go out in a moment.

And DH doesn't know when he'll be home.

I wish I was about that, but I'm not.

FrannyandZooey · 02/08/2007 16:58

Sorry about dh

I can't decide on Rally or Shuffle [waver]. And I really need black shoes, but the silver ones of Shuffle just look SO nice

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 02/08/2007 17:00

I think I will just go out with the boys.

I realised today, DH hasn't seen either of them since Sunday!

Nobody at work believes DH will leave his blackberry at home for our trip.

Tatties · 02/08/2007 17:32

Shuffle do look great. I'm sure I tried on rally too but can't remember if there was a problem with them or if I just preferred shuffle. I like rally but shuffle are definitely more 'me'.

Avi did you say it is your anniversary (somewhere down VERY long thread)? If so, happy anniversary

Oh, and referring to another random recollection from further down the thread, we were somewhere that had play food recently, and ds picked up a chicken leg and said it was butternut squash That's my boy

womblingalong · 02/08/2007 17:49

hello all,

Franny, get the shuffle shoes definitely, they are lovely, more lighthearted and retty than the others.

NQC - just been checking out the Prince thrad am of your tickets, have a great time, I saw him in the 90's and he was fab, and I am sue he has just got better.

Today I have had blueberries, tomatoes, rocket, spinach, avocado, watercress, will be having brocolli, tomato and more watercress for dinner, and nectarine and raspberries.

Now Franny mentioned an peanut butter sandwich earlier in the thread, and now that's all I can think about! I have resisted, because it is so fattening, but I may have to sucumb!

womblingalong · 02/08/2007 18:06

retty = pretty

thrad = thread

sorry!

FrannyandZooey · 02/08/2007 18:18

Peanut butter sandwiches are just superb! Nuts have healthy fats and help to satiate your appetite, you shouldn't avoid them...

I will get the Shuffle ones and maybe keep an eye on Rally for my birthday. It is birthday city round here next month as I recall? Lots of lovely Virgo and Libran veg munching people. I am loath to pay the delivery on top of £30 for shoes. Darn it.

Tatties any old bits of knitting that you would otherwise be chucking out would be useful to me, as long as they are large enough that a baby wouldn't choke on them. If you feel inspired to make me something amazing and heuristic at the same time then I would be delighted to receive it

Happy anniversary Avi, if it is

Have eaten a big stew with turnips, carrots, squash, mushrooms and sweetcorn. Ruddy nice. Spent the afternoon tramping about in a scrubby bit of woodland (v v small but ds thought it was MARVELLOUS) guilt tripped by lionheart's book.

OP posts:
lionheart · 02/08/2007 18:31

Was it avi who toyed with the idea of buying a wood?

Filthymindedvixen · 02/08/2007 18:41

I toyed with the idea of buying a wood. But Avi may well have done too. We didn't because it was on a slope so steep, the trees were at 45 degree angles. Which is why the damn wood was affordable to us I guess... Still, when ooor boat comes in...

F&Z - rally are pretty - but only f you have nice ankles i think.

Tatties, when did you get so good at knitting? I am still on bloody scarves and squares.

FrannyandZooey · 02/08/2007 18:44

I have lovely ankles

well, I have thin ankles. Will that do?

OP posts:
Filthymindedvixen · 02/08/2007 18:57

oh now, Franny, I ddn't say you didn't have nice ankles; I have not seen your ankles...I merely meant, if you had to make a decision twixt shoes, that might be a deciding factor... I'm sure you have beayooootiful ankles...

have had melon, rapeberries, banana, muesli, home-made veg soup and garlic (bread)!

I don't know what we';re having for dinner as dh has bought it and I haven't summoned up the nerve to look yet . I somehow have a sneaking suspicion processed meat may be involved Or chillis. Or pastry. Or probabaly all three.

Filthymindedvixen · 02/08/2007 18:57

I certainly didn't have rapeberries by the way!

FrannyandZooey · 02/08/2007 19:01

Bought Shuffle. Found a code for 10% off so I effectively got free delivery. Me and Tatties will now have to consult one another in advance of any meet ups so as not to have embarrassing matching shoes (hope you don't mind, Tatties)

OP posts:
lionheart · 02/08/2007 19:02

fmv ah yes, it was you and your steep wood. Would have been fab, wouldn't it?

I can knit squares and rectangles now.
