Just find it really hard to stop! I have if im honest with myself a problem i drink wine every night of the week which i know its bad for me but find it so hard not to! i made a point of stopping so many times i wouldnt mind if i actually enjoyed it anymore as i dont think i do i think its a habit i have got into and just cant get out of everytime i hear some statistics about alcohol abuse on news i cringe and blush and think god thats me> Last week i didnt buy any and got to wednesday and was okay monday and tuesday was like a bear with a sore head sop grumpy bad headaches etc! so then thursday my dp brought home 6 bottles of wine and i was so pissed off with myself as he said do you want some or are we waiting till the weekend? i was doin fine then he did that and i quite clearly have no willpower as we had a bottle with tea and together polished the rest off over the weekend !! so vowed not to drink the following week but just had a bad day with children and off i went to the shop!! im so mad at myself i just wondered if anyone else has as little willpower as me!!

I will be having a glass tonight. DH working till 10pm amd kids have driven me potty, not just mine but the other kids in the street have spent most of the day in my house!
Funnily enough I donn't often drink outside of the house, I am always first to drive.
I have a fear of getting drunk and not being able to find my way home. Wierdo.

I've started matching every glass of wine with a pint glass of water. The volume of liquid makes you cut down without noticing and you don't feel the after-effects the next day.

However, its my equivalent of Friday night and I am going to the fridge. Chablis anyone?

wildwoman · 26/07/2007 17:35

I prefer Pinot Grigio Meowmix but I can't seem to say that out loud without sounding like a prize WAG

meowmix · 26/07/2007 17:37

[can i just point out that its after 8 here so I'm really not drinking pre sun/yardarm interaction]

sorry no pinot but I do have a cheeky 'crisp fresh white Australian'

..... and some nice wine too.. boom! boom!

wildwoman · 26/07/2007 17:40

Tonight I will mostly be drinking...whatever DP brings home with him form work...oh god I hope he remmebers...you do think he'll remember don't you..? [sits rocking holding knees]

meowmix · 26/07/2007 17:42

passes wildwoman a glass

jaynehater · 26/07/2007 17:42

We went through a phase where we bought posh and expensive wine on the grounds we would savour and enjoy, and drink less.

Nope, didn't work.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 26/07/2007 17:44

bosslady - I used to drink too much. Used it as a crutch during a very stressful time and then it became a habit.

I have cut down and now have a max of two bottles a week, sometimes less. It was hard to do and if I want to not drink I pretty much can't have it in the house.

meowmix · 26/07/2007 17:44

ah well because they don't get storage of bottles here (ie leave them in metal containers in 40 degrees sun on the docks for months) we don't buy bottles because they're always off.

... so my wine comes in a classy cardboard container.

go on, judge me, see if I care!

CountessDracula · 26/07/2007 17:44

tonight I will be drinking water as i have a kidney infection

meowmix · 26/07/2007 17:46

apologies bosslady as I haven't been taking your OP seriously.'

I also had a bad-ish patch post mc and got out of it by going to the gym, cooking, keeping busy. I find if I do active but enjoyable stuff till later on then I don't reach for the wine as early and so cutr down that way.

wildwoman · 26/07/2007 17:47

Ooh no boxes are far too dangerous,we brought one back from a holiday and DP spent the next few weeks tutting and looking disbeliveing at how quickly I polished it off.I love it when he goes through hollier than though dry spells

wildwoman · 26/07/2007 17:47

God I can't speel but I swear I'm not drinking

wildwoman · 26/07/2007 17:48

spell

meowmix · 26/07/2007 17:49

ah well should you find yourself with box wine then you need a carafe so you don't keep going back to the fridge. plus its a bit more stylish for dinner parties.

jimmyjamas · 26/07/2007 18:29

Become really, really skint. Have nothing left over for booze.

That'll make you stop quick .

Worked for me!

DoubleBluff · 26/07/2007 18:57

I normally crack open the wine at 6 but I am holding off until at least 8. I go to bed at 10 so less time to drink, and hopefully will drink less.
( Thats the idea anyway)

bosslady · 26/07/2007 18:57

why do you think im looking for a job?!!

OP posts:
wildwoman · 26/07/2007 18:57

bosslady · 26/07/2007 18:59

Sorry I know I have been rather flippant on here about drinking,I know I drink too much and it's not big or clever.

OrmIrian · 26/07/2007 19:01

I have a rule of always having 3 booze-free night a week. Sometimes 4. And when we do have a drink it's one bottle between us. But it does worry me that I have to be so strict with myself. I'd love to be a take-it-or-leave it kind of drinker.

bosslady · 26/07/2007 19:04

thats the second time you have said sorry wildwoman you have nothing to be sorry for its good to know im (was going to say normal) not alone!!
