I had it more mildly yesterday and Friday, but it's really bad today, what could it be?

poor poor you
you should be over the worse as soon as the antibiotics do their magic

greensleeves · 23/07/2007 12:50

stupid pills are NOT working

FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 12:52

Aw greeny

kidney infection? Ruddy nasty

IME should start to get better almost straight away with ABs

go to the walk in centre

NorbertStanleyFletcher · 23/07/2007 12:57

Get thee to a doctor (again) or the walk in centre. If the abs aren't kicking in and helping (do you have a temp too? I once ended up delerious with a kidney infection)

PS - though you had uti you couldn't be pg too could you? Ectopic possibly if the pain is really severe?

FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 12:57

WALK IN CENTRE

or possible

hobble in centre

greensleeves · 23/07/2007 13:39

can't really do walk-in centre today, no car/it takes two bus journeys to get there/both kids in tow, I can't face it on my own, I can hardly walk as it is

but if it's still this bad tomorrow (another day of ABs, might be enough to improve things) I will get dh to have the boys while I go to GP

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 15:59

Greeny like everyone else I think it should be improving very fast with the ABs

can you phone NHS direct at least? I do see about the walk in centre, I am sorry I always advise that and forget you are miles away

NorbertStanleyFletcher · 23/07/2007 17:59

How are you feeling now?

UCM · 23/07/2007 18:01

Awwwww, GS, I had this recently on the right side, thought it was appendix but it turned out to be a fucking great cyst on my ovary. I was given antibiotics and have to go for another scan to see if it has been absorbed back to where it came from??

You need to find out mate, if it bursts you will cry.xx

UCM · 23/07/2007 18:03

Forgot to add, phone gp tell them and asked to referred to your hosps gynae ward straight away. That way you don't have to spend time going through a&e. Awwwww, my poor sweary mate.

greensleeves · 23/07/2007 19:12

I am pretty sure it is kidneys, I have the usual UTI burning/frequent trips to loo, general high temp and fluey symptoms (stabbing pains everywhere, skin feels like one big bruise) and barely tolerable pains in the actual kidney area (both sides now).

I'm supposed to be having a friend's little girl for a couple of hours tomorrow morning, I will have to stoke up on pain killers before they get here

Sodding ABs useless, so far.

DumbledoresGirl · 23/07/2007 19:18

Greeny, ring up now and ask if the mother of the child can find somewhere else for her dd tomorrow. You do not sound in a fit state to look after your children let alone someone else's. I have had a kidney infection and I know how you are feeling.

Reading this thread, you were told to go back to the hospital if it had not improved after 24 hours. Well 24 hours is up. Is it still as bad?

FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 19:21

Greeny an untreated (unsuccessfully treated) kidney infection is a bloody serious thing

will you phone someone ffs?

blondehelen · 23/07/2007 19:22

You should be having some effect with antibiotics by now. Make sure you are drinking lots and lots of water. If no better in 12hrs, deffo to gp for different antibiotics. hope you are feeling better soon

NorbertStanleyFletcher · 23/07/2007 19:29

Oh for fecks sake woman - call your out of hours service and get seen again. This has been going on since sunday morning.

You need it sorted

Let us not forget that you are not a man with flu, but a woman who has given birth....

greensleeves · 23/07/2007 19:30

Oh fuck fuck, I know you are right

But this friend hasn't asked me to have her dd before, it's taken a lot of coaxing, I don't want to let her down as she might not ask again

I will phone NHS Direct in the morning (after the friend has taken her dd home) and if they deem it necessary I will go to the hospital, kids or no kids.

It's just NOT CONVENIENT right now

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 19:31

think again Greeny

why can't you phone NHS direct now?

apart from anything else it is NOT FAIR on us to come on and tell us how ill you are and then not seek help

Mercy · 23/07/2007 19:32

GS

what is your temp?

do you have pain in your upper legs?

is dh home? please phone NHS Direct - can you get a taxi or friend or neighbour to take you or look after dss.

DumbledoresGirl · 23/07/2007 19:32

Greeny! That is the weakest response I have ever seen from you (another sign of how ill you are). Do you know you can damage your kidneys irreversibly if you do not get infections dealt with?

greensleeves · 23/07/2007 19:36

OK I'll ring them tonight

I am not going anywhere tonight though! Gah, it's not that desperate it can't wait another day.

Sorry, I know it's annoying when people start threads like this and then rubbish the advice

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 19:37

yes ring them

then you can decide what to do about it

no kidney infection NOT AT ALL desperate of course not I mean kidneys, who needs them eh?

Mercy · 23/07/2007 19:47

GS, the antibiotics should have helped you by now but obviously not.

Can you bear another night/12-18 hours of such discomfort? One thing that used to scare me was waking up in the middle of the night in real pain or discomfort adn then not knowing what to do even though I knew I should have done something earlier in the day. Been there, done that.

Rant over.

Phone NHS Direct now and get dh or a friend or a neighbour to takeover.

francagoestohollywood · 23/07/2007 19:50

maybe you just need to change the antibiotics. I'm seriously tempted to force you on a taxi. I went to the walk in centre the other night of a cut in my finger and they saw me in 5 minutes. Go now.

greensleeves · 23/07/2007 19:51

I will ring them and see what they say, if they say "get here now" then I will. DH is of the same opinion as everyone else too.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 23/07/2007 19:52

thank goodness for your dh
