For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Pinkpotter...I can't give blood, as I generally have a low Ironcount (probably even worse nowadays then ever, seeing that I seem to have fricking constant periods...bloody Implant...gonna see GP on Monday as I definately want to have it taken out...I had it for almost 2 years now and other then like 3 spurts of a 6week period where I didn't have any periods, I have been on a week/2 weeks at the time with up to a weeks break...it's not funny....sigh)

TooTicky · 21/07/2007 22:07

Oh yes, Astrid Lindgren. I have nearly all her books. And we have been to Astrid Lindgren world - it is very nice.
And Selma Lagerlof, The Wonderful Adventures of Nils Holgersson....fantastic.

Would LOVE to go to the Black Forest

Malfoynomore · 21/07/2007 22:09

Oh yes Selma Lagerlof...

and as for Black Forest...one day I am sure you will go I had the advantage of growing up in Germany, so, it's not as far...and other then 1 Holiday were these Mother child themes they have in Germany for single mothers or mothers that need a break generally etc...where the mum is at one sort of "Home" and you are at another with other Kids, etc....so, we didn't actually have to pay much for it...!

lionheart · 21/07/2007 22:12

M the implant thing sounds awful, I hope you can get it sorted.

TooTicky · 21/07/2007 22:12

oOOH, Franny, your message was 333rd, that must be wizardly significant and triangular and equilaterally meaningful, or something

Speaking of witchcraft, it was a pagan handfasting I went to yesterday. It was lovely if a little odd at points. I felt quite uncomfortable when they sort of breathed in front of the banner representing each element and it felt like we shouldn't be there, like it was voyeuristic or something. Everyone was on the inside of a circle and afterwards, couples hopped out of the gate over a broom stick, for fertility. I'm glad DH wasn't there, I think that might have been a bit much for him.

Then the reception was in a village hall and it was afternoon tea. There I was very badly behaved. There was NOTHING to eat that was wheat and dairy free, I mean nothing, it was all sandwiches, quiche, carrot flan, gorgeous looking pies and then ginger cake, caraway cake and scones, with cream and jam. The girl I went with is on the same diet, and we looked at each other and decided to stuff it for the day. Literally. I went completely overboard and ate everything like something possessed. Minutes later I swelled up in the middle like one of those inflatable sumo suits and groaning in the garden we agreed that actually, we weren't missing that much. Whe I paused for breath it was quite acidic tasting.

Toot - was it you who said that things might not taste the same when you have them again?

The wedding cake was vegan, bizarrely, so of course I had to cram that in my puffer fish face as well, bad manners not to, I had to keep excusing myself from the presence of people at points

So, yesterday, cucumber in a sandwich, mushroom in a sandwich, token tomato and a strawberry on my scone.

I am rotating on an axis of gas.

lionheart · 22/07/2007 10:33

That's an excellent idea, aviatrix.

Don't worry Mrs Carrot, I had big fat chips yesterday.

But the occasion did promote a small discussion of the preservative properties of salt and vinegar, so it was all very educational.

Malfoynomore · 22/07/2007 11:04

Mrs C...what diet are you on again?

Anyway, not eaten anythng yet, but will have something now and then shall do exercise after...I think, lol....not sure what I will do though...now that is teh problem with all that variety I have, lol....hm....possibly will either be Tae Bo or Davina...

TooTicky · 22/07/2007 11:17

Yes, MrsC, you can seriously go off things. Or, rather, realise how revolting they are.

Thankfully, my fever seems to have abated. Off to archaeology day at the museum. Have eaten 1/4 apple, fat slice of banana and a strawberry.

Malfoynomore · 22/07/2007 11:20

Thing is, once you eat those things again more often, you tend to start to like them again bloody addictive things ....

TooTicky · 22/07/2007 11:21

Ds1 is standing in the kitchen, naked, singing, having just made himself some raw plum, apple and strawberry jam.

Malfoynomore · 22/07/2007 11:49

how old is ds1?

TooTicky · 22/07/2007 11:56

8

lionheart · 22/07/2007 13:10

Now I have in my head images which consist of Papillon in her spa tub with an umbrella,

Mrs C rotating in an axis of gas, and scrummy TooT Jr in a post jam celebration.

Will we let the rain get us down?

Nah.

lionheart · 22/07/2007 13:14

Oh, and Franny with her nose in that which must not be named.

FirenzeandZooey · 22/07/2007 14:48

lol toticky, sadly at that age my es was already far to inhibited to pull that one...he was fine with nudity etc...until he started school and then all of a sudden he was all shy of his body....silly really!

lol Lionheart...
and Franny I bet Lionheart was right though ;)

Well had an Apple, a pear and a peach, then a 250g punnet of cherry tomatoes, and some left over pasta from last night, so a small portion of beans/tomatoes/spinach/mushroom/onion and garlic...

lionheart · 22/07/2007 15:01

They seem to pick up a lot of gender steroetyping at school as well.

lionheart · 22/07/2007 15:02

lol at Franny's strangely monosyllabic post.

Says it all really.

TooTicky · 22/07/2007 15:48

None of my dcs have any problem with nudity. Quite the contrary.

lionheart · 22/07/2007 16:49

It's rather sad when that self-consciousness starts.

Lullabyloo · 22/07/2007 19:21
