For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Wise words Malfoynomore.

Malfoynomore · 13/07/2007 13:34

lol tt, we x-posted...

Malfoynomore · 13/07/2007 13:35

I am, by the way, still a dairy consumer, but have really cut down and just aren'tfooling myself anymore into believing it's good for me....lol...

TheChamberofCarrots · 13/07/2007 13:39

mmm, yes, I think they probably were young ones, the size of a sugar snap but the beans were baked bean sized. They popped out of their case very satisfyingly and had crispy salt on. Delicious.

They are eaten a lot more in other cultures aren't they, I don't like soya milk that much though, and I've never seen these to buy before.

TheChamberofCarrots · 13/07/2007 13:40

dairy has taken on a mystical status for me, not milk so much, but cheese and butter! I long for blue cheese and fig, or parmesan in my risotto.

Lullabyloo · 13/07/2007 13:54

hello chaps
.....crawls in after doing exercise really didn't feel like doing

had fruit salad of peaches, pears, raspberries & blueberries for brekkie with some brazil nuts

cucumber, carrot & beetroot juice mid morning

chickpea tagine for lunch.....now eating watermelon

TooTicky · 13/07/2007 13:55

I've never been a great dairy person (maybe something to do with having to stay in every playtime in infant school and drink the horrible free milk). I did used to enjoy cheese but can't eat any of it now. It really smells. Especially cheese in hot weather, it's enough to make me hurl.
Plus the animal issues of course...

TheChamberofCarrots · 13/07/2007 13:59

yes, we had nasty warm cartons too. Yuck

lullabye- have you just made the tagine?

TooTicky · 13/07/2007 14:02

We had glass bottles with thin blue straws. To this day I cannot see a blue straw without hearing that dreadful slurping noise, smelling the sour smell and feeling my stomach curdle.

Lullabyloo · 13/07/2007 14:04

thought that said nasty worm cartons for a minute

yes made it earlier & dh WILL be having it for supper.....like it or not

Lullabyloo · 13/07/2007 14:05

ewwwwwwwwwwww yes.......all tthat foul yellow cream on the top......some children went up for seconds.....ughhhh

TooTicky · 13/07/2007 14:06

Can somebody open a window in here please?

Malfoynomore · 13/07/2007 14:07

urgh, that soudns like a real Kids nightmare there...I assume it's not so bad now, as in milk is kept cold, etc...!
I still like my cheese, unless it's really stinkky, saying that for some strange reason Parmesan is lovely, despite smelling of sick or cheesy feet, lol!

TheChamberofCarrots · 13/07/2007 14:07

A bottle sounds nicer than a carton, perhaps you are a a little older than me, or was the bottle/carton thing regional?

Tagine sounds yum, we are having jacket potatoes for dinner with a variation of veg. I quite like thinly sliced courgette griddled with lemon atm.

Lullabyloo · 13/07/2007 14:09

i like cheese if part of a dish or on pasta etc......but couldn't physically eat a piece of cheese on it's own

TooTicky · 13/07/2007 14:10
  1. School in Bristol.
Malfoynomore · 13/07/2007 14:13

To Ticky, are you still in Bristol now? We used to live in Chepstow for 4 years...which is only over the bridge

TheChamberofCarrots · 13/07/2007 14:13

oh, not much older then, I'm 29, East Anglia, maybe we were leading the way with tetra packs for convenience

TooTicky · 13/07/2007 14:17

Well, TetraPaks are Swedish so geographically closer I suppose.

No, not in Bristol any more - been in Wilts for 6 years. Have had many a day in Chepstow in my time though

Malfoynomore · 13/07/2007 14:17

East Anglia...roughly where...if you don't mind me asking...not east anglia, but kind of...never really know if Northamptonshire is meant to be anglia or midlands, lol...we are in Corby (incase you know that...I know it's a odd place to live at, lol)

Malfoynomore · 13/07/2007 14:17

small world, eh

Lullabyloo · 13/07/2007 14:32

manky glass bottles

feels like old crone

TooTicky · 13/07/2007 14:39

Lullaby, I'd assumed you were younger than me - I think it's your name, it conjures up youth and naivety

Filchymindedvixen · 13/07/2007 14:48

I can't have milk unless it is ICY cold thanks to years f warm, creamy smelly school milk. In fact I couldn't eat cream or butter at all until a couple of years ago. I'm sure it was down to that who;le milk thing.

I have soya milk in tea etc and can cook with it but I cannot abide it on cereal or muesli. Are some less 'sweet' than others?
