For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

piriton makes mine drowsy.

camomile tea bag in bath helps.

Eaten some raspberies.....

FirenzeandZooey · 12/07/2007 12:23

Had beans and lentils for lunch

Think tummyache was caused by eating crap last night and then loads of fruit for breakfast. Is ok now, just a bit gripey.

lionheart · 12/07/2007 13:22

Banana, strawberries, grapes so far.

Have got vegetarian cookbook now and am wondering if I can improvise with the grinder thing

(for seeds, herbs etc) or whether I will actually need a contraption.

TooTicky · 12/07/2007 13:38

Tofu fajitas with a bit of salady stuff in. Grapes. Bought a tomato and rosemary foccacia and have been stuffing it with tahini, watercress and tomato. Heavenly.

Lionheart, I have been considering a proper old-fashioned grinder and electric ones aren't all that good ime - they pulverise some but leave the rest in chunks. Nuts, that is.

Good luck NQC! When we did the pox, ds2 was tiny and his nappy area was solid spot. At least the weather's not hot. You could try rooibos/redbush tea in the bath.

TooTicky · 12/07/2007 13:40

Thanks Malfoy - ds1 is in last possible footwear today.

BocoBeak · 12/07/2007 13:42

Banana, apple, had tomatoes and rocket and humus in pitta for lunch.

Took dd2 to the doctors today to check she's ok for camping at the festival as she's wheezy. He said her chest is ok - the noise is all high up, but her ear is very red Not giving antibiotics as she had an anaphylactic reaction last time which was terrifying - and don't want to try something new right now. So, will have to see. He said go camping, there'll be doctors there if it all goes wrong, but put a little bit of a dampener on my excitement. She seems ok, just snotty and a bit short tempered.

Lullabyloo · 12/07/2007 13:43

strawberry,raspberry,banana smoothie & vanilla,apple & cranberry porridge for breakfast

brown rice,roasted veg,rocket & tomatoes for lunch

done too much on the trainer today..my legs are like jelly & keep getting cramp every night in left leg...it's sooo painful

TooTicky · 12/07/2007 13:49

Good luck Boco, I hope she perks up.

LL

Malfoynomore · 12/07/2007 13:57

Boco, hope your lil one is improving asap...poor Kid.
Lullaby....I remember the first time I did Davinas Power of 3, I had really overdone it, and my legs felt like jelly for the first few days after and it took a good few weeks to get back to normal....this time, when I started exercising again I did first some other stuff, before daring Power of 3...and luckily never had a problem since...saying that, I am almost certain I may had pulled a muscle in my butt that first time...

Lullabyloo · 12/07/2007 14:00

been using the machine for 3 months now,...was doing 3 lots of 15mins a day but this week upped it to 4 times..so an hour a day .....the cramp every night is a pain

Malfoynomore · 12/07/2007 14:14

I bet it makes settling at night difficult.
Bad enough in pregnancy.
Here is some INfo of what you could do/take to avoid them (not sure if this is a website trying to sell you something, but looks like some good info on there anyway)

FirenzeandZooey · 12/07/2007 14:21

Right this thread is starting to scare me so this is my last ditch attempt to catch up. I will start at the top and work down, so if I don't get to something that you wanted me to see, please say it again

Lullaby I used to be the housekeeper in a hotel that was all stairs. God the cramps were awful. I think there is a home remedy for leg cramps that involves salt or something? I could be making this up, though.

TooT can you tell me more about the use of redbush on skin please? I adore the stuff and am convinced it will save us all, but didn't know you could use it for anything except drinking. Is dd back from her trip yet? I think it must be a very odd feeling when they are away.

Boco am really impressed at your daring re: camping on your own. I am such a coward I do hope dd is ok and that it all goes well. Can you find a wifi spot and check in, please?

Lionheart sorry that you don't like HP. We aren't discussing it, at least?

NQC sorry the pox has struck and is causing you grief. I hope by tomorrow the worst of it will be over and that you get some decent sleep tonight.

Tranquila nice to see you around on here more lately

MrsC I love your new name so much I have forgotten to actually read your posts. I am very excited about the ball and it sounds like it is going to be far too nice to let babies slaver all over it. I will CAT you with my address (kick me again if I forget)

BBB thank you for listening to my pedantic whining

keep up all the good work

Lullabyloo · 12/07/2007 14:22

thanks 3....very interesting...
yup every time I move or turn over it's agony...spend most of the night leaping around yelping

mufti · 12/07/2007 15:21

slight hijack - but - tooticky , do you remember your thread about mumsnet local ?, well there is a reply on it to you from carriemumsnet if you are still interested

TheChamberofCarrots · 12/07/2007 17:07

What is this Cat business, how does that work?

FirenzeandZooey · 12/07/2007 17:25

MrsC, MN will pass on a message from me to you. They check them first (in theory) to make sure I am not sending you death threats.

Unless you have chosen the option to "not accept messages from MN members" in which case I won't be able to.

TranquilaManana · 12/07/2007 17:29

firenze - ive missed you, and this thread, too

today; half an avocado at brekkie, plate of broad beans, red pepper, halloumi and brown rice for lunch and no dinner yet. which is waaaaaaaaay better than of late, lemme tell ya.

Malfoynomore · 12/07/2007 17:40

hmmmmmm haloumi....I love that...we used to eat it loads when we lived out in Cyprus, sigh.....

NotQuiteCockney · 12/07/2007 18:15

grr. aargh. bjasjzxckvafds.

Day has mostly really sucked. Piriton seems to be helping, but ... a friend came over with her DD, who is a great friend of DS2, he loves her, he named his bike after her. And they were just horrid to each other.

Then another friend came over, and the two boys played together ok. At least.

Then I went to collect DS1, only nobody seemed to be in the school, nobody answering the door, etc etc. Turned out it was speech day, and I hadn't noticed, hadn't got the note in the cubby hole etc etc. .

I waited outside the school for ages, and then kids started trickling back, by which time we were late to get home and meet more visitors. So I hurried home with stressy stomach pain and hung out a bit.

DS2 has gone to bed. I've eaten. I'm very very tired but don't want to sleep.

DS1 seems very under the weather too - he keeps bursting into tears for very little - maybe end of term? Too much going on?

DS2 looks horrible he is just all spots. He's not scratching too much, he keeps having baths, and now he's on piriton, which does seem to be helping.

FirenzeandZooey · 12/07/2007 18:40

NQC can you not tone down your visitors and so on atm? I mean ds2 is really not well and you are so tired. I just don't think it seems like a good idea to be trying to carry on as normal and 3 sets of visitors in one day is a lot for anyone even if they are feeling on top of things. I am sure people would understand.

lionheart · 12/07/2007 18:45

Sounds like a hellish day, NQC.

TooTicky · 12/07/2007 20:07

Thanks mufti

Filchymindedvixen · 12/07/2007 20:08

dashing in to blow kisses at you healthy beans and to declare my lentil and brorcooli soup, banana, grapes, melon and morrocanchickpea stew for dinner.

Panicky panic as I pack for weekend at local music festival. Aggghhh. I hate packing for everyone.

TooTicky · 12/07/2007 20:13

But what about your interesting soup from the other day fmv? I want details!!

NotQuiteCockney · 12/07/2007 20:46

Well, the visitors sorta help. By and large they do. The first one brought piriton, the second was calming and pleasant, the third helped with the kids. Oh, and there was a fourth, after everyone else.

These are all co-opy people, not New Friends, that would be stressful. And I feel less mad for having had company, to be fair.

In theory, maybe tomorrow, unless a farmer in I forget where agress to let a journalist onto his land, DS1 will be going off with a friend. Maybe. His school lets out at 11am tomorrow.

Anyway, yeah, the fourth visitor may come back tomorrow, to let his kids lick DS2.

Oooh, and I may have a week with no DS1 and no co-op shifts! One of the visitors wanted to swap a shift next week, and that got rid of my shift in the last week! That might be relaxing, or something.
