May I?

OP posts:
popsycal · 23/07/2007 14:43

could they just be winding people up with the name changes...

DebitheScot · 23/07/2007 15:06

I'm not amused either at that name change. I've bought the book but not started reading it yet.

Didn't go out last night as planned as calf was still a bit tight. Planning to go tonight though, prob just the usual 30 mins. Then hopefully Wed and then that'll be it till I get back from holiday.

TheDuchessOfFawkesBride · 23/07/2007 16:10

I have finished reading HP and I stayed off Mumsnet until I'd finished it. BUT not all the name changes that I've seen are correct, so ignore them all!

Happy to say I don't ache anywhere today despite doing 5k yesterday after a 2 week break (excepting a couple of very short runs). I'll run for 30 minutes tomorrow but not worry about the distance. It's certainly harder to fit running in now the holidays are here and I have all 3 DCs at home.

glitterfairy · 23/07/2007 18:15

Hello Duchess I enjoyed a pottery weekend as well. Am into new job and knackered and wondering when to fit in the run.

I reckon it will have to be evenings for a while as I cant get up at 5.30 to run I just cant!

Anyway move and new job are now accomplished so need to find a new routine as well.

Lilliput · 23/07/2007 18:43

I haven't run in a week and my last one was pathetic. I can't seem to do any longer than 30 minutes and my last one was only 15. I need a great big kick up the backside please. I need to change my running somehow. I found a route I really liked and was that bit longer than the other 2 I ran but then I got attacked by the buzzard while running there and I am a little apprehensive to go back.
Kick my bum please .

TheDuchessOfFawkesBride · 23/07/2007 19:27

Foot connects with Lilliputs backside. You could try the buzzard route again but take a water pistol or something noisy to scare it off with (gun? ). I'm sure it would get the message. Otherwise you could try running somewhere else completely - I was in a different village on Sunday and really enjoyed the new surroundings. I think it also helped that I didn't have any familiar landmarks to judge my running by.

Hi Glitterfairy! I was wondering when you'd be back

Sorry the job is tiring but at least the move is done. Good luck with getting into a routine with the evening runs. I couldn't get up at 5 or 6am to run either, I do quite like the idea of it but I love my bed too much.

DoubleBluff · 23/07/2007 21:38

Hi Glitter fairy glad all is going well.
It would be easier to get up and go in the mornings if the sun is shining.
I have all my kit ready and alarm set for 6am tomorrow, but if its raining forget it.
I like going running in the mornings as it gets it out the way and don't have to wash hair more than once in a day.
FEw people at work go running in lunchhour but I could never get my hair washed and dired in time. ANd def could not leave it!
Keep up the goodwork!

mamamoo · 23/07/2007 22:01

Brownie points for me tonight. Ran for 59 mins 31 secs without stopping despite thunder, lightening and torrential downpours Now I dont run in the rain ever ....but it started about 15 mins into my run and I felt ok...at a possible turnaround point I was soaked anyway so thought I may as well continue. Well I have to say it actually felt really invigorating......so what is it that stops me going out the door in the rain .......running is so much more a mental thing isn't it????

TheDuchessOfNorks · 23/07/2007 22:44

I love running in the rain. (sports bra reveals all when wet however)

popsycal · 24/07/2007 10:56

i LOVE running in the rain too. Legs starting to feel better. Went for a good walk earlier and they feel ok.

DebitheScot · 24/07/2007 11:45

didn't go out last night (holds out hand for a smack), partly couldn't be bothered partly because ds decided not to go to bed when he normally does (as a result of a huge sleep in aft) so by the time he was in bed I decided it was too late to go. WILL go tonight though I promise. Prob won't go again though till after holiday.

TheDuchessOfNorks · 24/07/2007 20:06

Ran the hardest 30 minutes of my life this morning! Across the forest, long steep hills, all the paths had turned into streams, mud was horrendous. I should have realised it would be really bad but once I'd started I thought I may as well continue!

And then I had to walk the dog.

AND then I spent the afternoon digging up potatoes.

I need a bath!

DoubleBluff · 24/07/2007 21:09

Duchess you hero. Budding x country runner!
I got up and out at 6.10 am did 4 miles it was buestiful this morning so nice to see the sun shining!

DirtyGertiefromnumber30 · 25/07/2007 08:40

well done duchess and DB.

My friend recently did 'Hell Runner' which 10 - 12 miles through woods, up really steep hills, through bogs up to your waist etc.
Well - the clue is in the title!

DebitheScot · 25/07/2007 16:13

Well I saw my bike in the shed yesterday looking like it needed a ride and so as my calf was still feeling not quite right I thought I'd go for a wee cycle instead.
I did a really good route along a river and then canal, got covered in mud from head to toe, went through some puddles so deep my feet got soaked, got slightly lost and ended up doing 12.5 miles in just over an hour. I was so pumped when I got back, it was so much fun. So I've decided that when I get back from hol I will run twice a week (once on my own, once with 2 people from work) and cycle once a week. Then I'll be superfit in no time. Just need someone to keep kicking me up my backside to stay motivated.

Celery · 25/07/2007 17:14

Am now running 5 minutes/walking 3 minutes x 3. You were all right, I AM improving very quickly

Any recommendations for bras for a largish chest? I tried Enell, but I have very narrow shoulders and a short torso, and the straps were too long. Shock Absorbers don't adjust short enough either. What else can I try?

popsycal · 25/07/2007 19:34

M&s crop top type bra is fab

PeckaRolloverAgain · 25/07/2007 19:36

popsycal · 25/07/2007 19:38

was thinking of you today when my sister returned the maternity clothes of mine that I lent her!!!

Your bag is sat in my airing cupboard gathering dust!!!

Name a day

PeckaRolloverAgain · 25/07/2007 19:41

Beetroot · 25/07/2007 19:42

Glitterfairy is slacking and needs sorting out

popsycal · 25/07/2007 19:59

I want to run too but my leg still doesnt feel right

TheDuchessOfNorks · 25/07/2007 21:28

I quite like running up hills. Am I a freak? (knows answer before asking question). But not freakish enough to attempt 'Hell Runner'. That's insane.

Round of applause for DB for getting up and out so early and Debi for doing 'Hell Cycle'.

Beetroot · 25/07/2007 21:37

the hill I wlaked up was awful. Set myslef a goal and failed. Friday I will run further though. I even found it hard to walk up some of it

DoubleBluff · 25/07/2007 21:57

I just widh I could be a bit faster! Thought I was flying yesterday but was still 10 minute miling.
Don't know wheter to run for longer or same distances faster!
ANd for gods sake will someone do SOMETHING about this weather.I blame the govt!!!
