Can I lay out my ignorance for all to see, and ask a question about tampons?

... It's the sort of thing I should have asked when I was 14, but here we go...

When you have period clots, and you are using tampons, where does the clot go? If you are using pads, it goes onto the pad, so what about tampons?

Have never used one , I mean.

Skribble · 18/06/2007 22:20

Soory that was an american one!!! Freebie that is

Jacanne · 18/06/2007 22:23

I find that Lilets tend to expand width ways and Tampax lengthways. Lilets are more leak-proof but also more uncomfortable. Has anyone else found that they can feel them more after having children. I find them really uncomfortable now.

stressteddy · 18/06/2007 22:24

No sorry love lil lets
HATE tampax

cheltenhamgal · 18/06/2007 22:31

ok so naive I might be but what is a moon cup ?

Wotz · 18/06/2007 22:36

here

it is a little cup that goes inside you to hold the menstral fluid, safe and eco friendly. You empty and re-use.

Skribble · 18/06/2007 22:39

Chance to get a free lilets holder .

See I knew I could find a related freebie!! .

Wotz · 18/06/2007 22:53

Skribble I use a little pretty purse that my dds don't use anymore. It can hold yo to about 5. But thanks..but you will have to do better than that it holds one I think!

cornsilk · 18/06/2007 23:02

Take care using tampons when pissed!
I once forgot about one after a real bender.
(Very gross)

Skribble · 18/06/2007 23:08

Mine just hang about inthe bottom of my bags, the wrappers used to always fall off and then one would get cought on your purse when yu go to pay for petrol

Perhaps I should get a little holder for mine.

How times have changed. Free samples on-line. In my day you had to cut out a form from Just 17, and send it off to sister somebody. As a 13 yo, I imagined a little old nun in a room by herself putting free samples into envelopes.

purpleduck · 19/06/2007 00:21

wotz - pmsl at little kittybags!!!
kathy, you don't have to wait until you stop BFing for your cycle to come back!!

anotheranonname · 19/06/2007 08:22

Lynette - didn't you have the Tampax Lady talk at your school? .

Talk about a blatant marketing move. I hid my free sample but it was confiscated from me anyway by my Mum. Made me even more determined to use them.

colditz · 19/06/2007 08:49

My Art teacher gave out tampax to all the girls, after all the boys had been Banished downstairs.

my mum took it off me and told me only married ladies can use them

lilletes are good for throwing into drinks in bars. full absorbtion.

sarz · 19/06/2007 13:32

our tampax talk lady was also an always talk lady, with lots of free samples, it was a long time before i realised there were other makes!!! I have tried Tampax and EVERY time they have leaked! I am all for lilets, they are the best!! and so tiny!! My younger cousin found some of mine and thought they were bullets

I dont have periods anymore (depo injection) but when i do, i think i will go for the moon cup! I am with mamama- i think i would enjoy inspecting the contents!!

LynetteScavo · 19/06/2007 14:07

I'm very about the Tampax lady!

bookwormmum · 19/06/2007 17:37

I don't mind towels as long as they don't have bloody wings on them (excuse the pun). WTF are they for??

NAB3 · 19/06/2007 17:38

To keep the sides of your knickers clean? To secure the pad more?

bookwormmum · 19/06/2007 17:41

All they do for me is to twist the gusset part of my knickers round - maybe I'm stretching them too far .

mrsmalumbas · 19/06/2007 17:46

Mooncups rock.

My friend Gillian introduced me to Lilets at the age of about 14. My Mum was a bit shocked, she had been buying me pads, but I have always hated pads. Icky, hot, sweaty, and you just never feel clean.

I find that tampons are fine with heavy flow, but I hate it when your period is a day or so in and you get that draggy dryness when you take them out. Yuck.

Mooncups are so much better, I have had to experiment a bit with mine to get the hang of it but it is so much more comfortable. And so much better for the environment - think of all those tampons floating around in the sea or in landfill - and the compak ones have plastic applicators too, even worse! (And don't you find the little plastic points on the applicator a bit ouchy?)

JackieNo · 19/06/2007 17:51

I can't get my head round applicator tampons. Just... can't somehow. Had to use one the other day at work, got it out of the machine - ended up having to take it out of the applicator and use it like a 'normal' tampon . Lil lets all the way for me. But I really ought to try a mooncup, I know.

bewilderbeast · 19/06/2007 18:17

mrsmalumbas - does it really stop the draggy feeling, i'd worried about that with mooncups as that feeling with tampons makes me want to throw up
