Sat here on my laptop watching over my tiny DD who has been admitted to the Paediatric High Care unit this morning with Bronchiolits.

Feeling very sorry for myself and even sorrier for her.

Hope you are doing OK this morning dejags - well as can be expected anyhow with worrying about your DD.

Elibean · 01/06/2007 09:04

Thinking of you and dd, Dejags, hope the night went peacefully and the monitors are behaving. Which day is she on? xx

soapbox · 01/06/2007 09:10

Dejags - positive vibes for a quick recovery for DD, winging their way to you.

Be kind to yourself too!

foxinsocks · 01/06/2007 09:17

oh dejags - poor you. And I bet the weather has turned there too so it's not mighty warm outside - probably just the time that all the babies get colds and the like .

I'm not sure if it helps hearing other stories but ds, too, had this and was in hospital. It is very frightening seeing them gasping and spluttering when they are so little but as Elibean said, the good thing about it being RSV is that they know exactly how it's going to progress.

Take care of yourself and I really hope dd is over the worst of it soon.

how are you all today? hoping that things are on the up, even if that means a down for the next couple of days before she quite recovers. it's good that the docs are so familiar with the way everything works. strength and peace, dejags. and a nice sandwich not bought from the hospital caff.

LadyTophamHatt · 02/06/2007 06:33

Dejags has asked me you update you all, I received this Email this morning.

All,

Thanks for your best wishes on my other thread.

Carys was admitted on Thursday morning to the our local Paediatric unit with an unknown viral infection. She was tested and on Thursday evening, we got the bad news that she is RSV Positive. We were told that it was going to a rocky road as this virus is very dangerous for newborns and prems.

Thursday night was ok. She held her own without support. Unfortunately on Friday morning she started deteriorating (as expected) and was placed in a full High Dependency Unit. She was hooked up to every monitor known to man, a drip and a zillion wires and placed in a resuscitair. Yesterday was rocky - her sats were swaying wildly and every slight bit of stress was sending her Heart Rate, Respiration and SATS haywire. Just after lunch DH and I decided to insist on a transfer for her to a Neonatal ICU - unfortunately because of the virus (which is very contagious), we couldn't find a bed anywhere in Cape Town in a PICU/NICU in an isolation ward. It was decided to transfer her to the adult ICU in our local hospital which is where she remains now.

My darling girl is fighting for her life. She is stable but critical. Please mumsnetters, please pray and send all of your best thoughts (I truly believe in being positive) to us.

My life is upside down, my baby is so sick and I am sitting her in the family room in the middle of the night almost too scared to go into the Unit for fear of bad news.

God help us.

I'll try to keep you all updated when I can.

Love dejags

Dejags, your daughter is still in our thoughts!

Best wishes to you.

morocco · 02/06/2007 20:26

much love and prayers

coleyboy · 02/06/2007 20:34

My positive thoughts are being transmited as I type.

DS has been v poorly recently, and it was only positive thoughts and visualisation that kept me going, and I truly believed they helped ds.

Much love xx

Cadmum · 02/06/2007 20:43

Dejags: I am so sorry about your daughter. Your family will remain in my prayers.

FWIW One of my dearest friend's son was also admitted to hospital with RSV. He was 3 weeks at the time and is now a healthy 8 year old.
