Oh Dejags, I am sorry. RSV is the pits but the only little one I ever knew with it made a full recovery and was also only 3 weeks old when admitted.
Sending you lots of hopeful, positive vibes XXX

ChippyMinton · 31/05/2007 21:23

dejags, i am so sorry to hear this. My DD was admitted to hospital at 10 days old with bronchiolitis. We spent 10 days in the high dependency unit before she fought it off and made a full recovery. Sending you both positive vibes for a speedy recovery.

littlepicklesmum · 31/05/2007 21:26

Dejags - just wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts.. I hope you manage to get some sleep tonight and DD starts to improve. Sending little kisses. xx

Elibean · 31/05/2007 21:55

Oh you poor loves, both of you . My dd was in HDU with bronchiolitis at exactly four weeks old, last Christmas (admitted on dd1's third birthday, and in over the holidays) and I will never forget how it felt.

Its just heartbreaking, and scary. She is so little, and you are only just post partum and full of hormones, and I do understand how it feels. I found talking to the other parents on the ward, and especially on the High Dependency Unit, helped me get through - that, and some of the staff, who were wonderful.

They kept telling me that at least RSV (if its an RSV Bronchiolitis, which most are) is predictable, and she will get better after the fifth day....one of them also said it would feel so slow it would be like watching paint dry, and they were right. I felt the beeping of the monitors was ingrained in my eardrums.

I'll be thinking of you and your little dd every day, wishing the virus gone and her all better. Take care of yourself as much as you can, xxx

tortoiseSHELL · 31/05/2007 21:57

Oh Dejags - sorry to see your post - I hope she makes a swift recovery, and that you are ok. Lots of love to you both. xxx

dd1 had RSV and bronchiolitis at 14 weeks old, she was in an o2 tent for a week, but recovered and had no lasting effects. She is now 6 and very robust

welliemum · 01/06/2007 00:48

Best wishes for your little girl dejags. Hope she has a good night and that you get some sleep too (not easy, I'm sure).

madamez · 01/06/2007 00:57

Poor little thing and poor you. Now take a deep breath and imagine her as a grandmother entertaining her grandchildren (as my elderly relatives used to do) with stories of how she was ill as a baby and fought through - or if that's a step too far, picture her cheering up her own DD or DIL about how resilient babies are.

And my friend's DD had the same thing and is now a healthy bouncy 11-year-old. It's rotten at the time but it gets better.

SNOWBall4girlz · 01/06/2007 00:59

lots of {hugs} from me too my LO was in hospital for a week when only 4 wks old.
Remember to take care of yourself too
get dh to bring you snacks and stuff.
Wishing your baby a fast recovery.

dinny · 01/06/2007 01:21

oh, how horrible for you and dd, Dejags (huge congrats on her, btw, didn't realise you'd had another!)

wishing her a speedy recovery - and take care of yourself, xxxcxx

eidsvold · 01/06/2007 06:31

oh dejags sorry to hear that. Remember those days - but i did not have my laptop nor did I know mumsnet those days - I sat like a little old lady doing my cross stitching.

thinking of you - as someone else said - the other parents are usually very supportive - we had mostly fab parents when dd1 had her cardiac surgery. She was a little older and 1lb havier when she had her two open heart surgeries and it can be very scary seeing all the tubes and things that are going on. Oxygen sats - remember that one well too.

sending thoughts and wishes for a good recovery from aus.

remember to take care of yourself as well.
