Unable to walk suddenly

TROUBLEDMAM · 03/07/2018 02:16

So on Thursday I suddenly became unable to walk
I could feel my back hurt n giving out n my legs trembling
Ive suffered with sciatica before n thought it was the beginning of an episode
Until Friday when I realised I couldn't walk at all
I called my gp out n she said it was sciatica n a pulled muscle
Give me strong drugs n left
Come Saturday night the drugs weren't masking the pain n I was sure they was something more wrong
I rang 111 who phoned an ambulance
They wouldn't take me to hospital said ring my doctor today
I did this n she said she would call back after speaking to another doctor but never did

I'm in absolute agony I'm pissing in a bucket
I've had muscle relaxers called lorazepam
Codeine phosphate paracetamol every four hours since Friday n I'm still in agony

Any one know wat I can do next?

Also experiencing
Memory loss
Confusion

Very emotional
I rang the doctor n he said the morphine might b the cause of the other symptoms I've just listed
And changed my meds

I have just felt like I'm loose my mind tbh

So I'm in the back pain clinic on 2/8 and mri on 4/8

Could you afford to go.private? I think about doing this and looked it up and in my local private hospital it’s £250 to see the consultant. My GP arrranged blood tests etc in the nhs beforehand somthat I wouldn’t have to,pay for them. Just waiting now for a referral letter from my gp

TROUBLEDMAM · 25/07/2018 10:55

I'm not in that position unfortunately
😭

NicoAndTheNiners · 25/07/2018 10:56

This is awful that you’ve been left for so long in so much pain.

elephantfan · 25/07/2018 10:59

Have you contacted your MP?
Mine was brilliant when I couldn't get a hospital appointment. She sorted it out very quickly.

TROUBLEDMAM · 25/07/2018 11:02

The MP round here is just as bad she's supposed to b helping me with my kids school n is rubbish

This is in going with her atm

OP posts:
TROUBLEDMAM · 25/07/2018 11:10

My partner is gonna ring MP now worth a try
Can't loose out x

Deadheadstickeronacadillac · 25/07/2018 11:14

Ask for zomorph extended release tablets if oramorph not enough.

Windmillsinsummer · 25/07/2018 11:31

You are not being stubborn enough with them many people have told you to go back to a&e. You need to go and make a fuss unfortunately if you don't they will happily make you wait i love the nhs but resources mean that they will let you wait if you don't insist. As someone else upthread has said maybe you need to tell them you are starting to have bladder problems you've been like this almost a full calender month with no real improvement. I've found some GPS happily will happily dole out copious pain killers if it means they don't have to refer you on.

Bellends · 25/07/2018 11:49

Ask your GP about Amytryphilline...it's an old antidepressant but works very well on nerve pain. It was the only thing that got me through till my disc replacement.

TROUBLEDMAM · 25/07/2018 13:15

Quite surprisingly the MP is on it
So see what comes of this

I can't just go n sit in A n E as I can't sit for hours on end on my bottom I need to lay flat or can say for maybe 20 minutes now with the maximum dose of morphine

So sitting in AnE for four hours isn't an option my doctor needs to refer me on or I need to be taken in an ambulance

I hope when the gp ring my wife later as requested he will have spoken to the MP too and this will be sorted quicker

OP posts:
NicoAndTheNiners · 25/07/2018 13:39

When my back was not quite this bad I also couldn’t sit and went to a&e and laid on the floor in the waiting room until I was seen. I really would go and do this. If you’re crying in pain you surely need admitting for pain relief?

TROUBLEDMAM · 25/07/2018 14:13

So the gp phoned my wife and his words were "people who have mental health problems tend to feel pain more than non mental health suffers"

I'm sick to death of been accused of over exaggerating my pain

Yes I have bpd but anyone who knows me knows I'd be out daily with my kids in the six weeks holidays

Of course I'm emotional I've been in been so long and feel so guilty about my partner doing everything and my kids having to see me like this

OP posts:
Windmillsinsummer · 25/07/2018 15:17

You need to phone an ambulance saying your bladder isn't working properly and you cannot walk. I have a gp like yours who doesn't want to refer me anywhere or give me medication hospital consultants want me to have I'm moving surgeries and lodging a formal complaint. My old gp was amazing the new one is awful and the things he has missed out have ended up making things much harder for me it sounds like yours is similar. Alternatively get a blow up bed to lie in a&e bet they see you quicker or you could wait until gp out of hours service is open or whatever you have in your area and phone telling them you cannot cope it's been a month and you are worse not better as your painkillers are not helping.

stayathomegardener · 25/07/2018 15:20

I second lying on the floor in a and e and saying your bladder isn't functioning.

longwayoff · 25/07/2018 15:31

As above.call ambulance. Lie. You need to be seen by someone who knows what they're doing. G Ps aren't specialists and you are on a ridiculous assortment of medicines without specific diagnosis.

TROUBLEDMAM · 25/07/2018 15:37

Surely if I lie they will know when they check me out in hospital and then just send me home again ???
They can put finger up ya bum and check for muscle thing
I Duno about the wee tho

I'm worried about lying tbh
And I'm also worried about going to AnE and then just sending me home again
I have three kids to consider

And my wife

I've very tempted tho as I'm sick of this pain

swingofthings · 25/07/2018 16:39

Troubledmam, you've been told many times on this thread that you should go to A&E yet you keep finding excuses not to and sourcing other solutions that clearly are not working.

If you go to A&E and show how much in pain you are and how you cannot seat all this time, what do you think they will do? Let you scream in agony in the waiting room? Of course not.

It's up to you but if you are not going to follow the one recommendation that will help and stick to seeking help from those who can't help, nothing will happen until next week.

MarklahMarklah · 25/07/2018 17:32

Troubledmam I'm sorry that you're still being fobbed off here.
I'm also sad and angry that teh GP is minimising your pain, I've a friend with AS and a number of comorbid health conditions and the first thing they're told whenever they complain of pain is "Oh autistic people feel pain more." Rubbish.
I think you should go to A&E. Lay on the floor screaming if you have to. Make someone take you seriously by not being patient any longer.
I hope you soon get some proper help.

TROUBLEDMAM · 25/07/2018 17:57

Swingofthings
I've said before that I've done this and they literally just sent me home
I've cried screamed moaned and whinged in AnE and they just send me home

Do you think I want to be in this pain ?

Of course not ~ but I also don't want to put myself through more pain by traveling to hospital laying on a very small hospital waiting room for four hours and been sent home again

Do you see my point?

I also have other people to consider my three children and my partner

I'm literally trying to take one day at a time

But I'm feeling like this is very inhumain wait to treat someone
And then to say I'm over exaggerating it due to having bpd is an absolute blown

OP posts:
TROUBLEDMAM · 25/07/2018 23:26

Why does no one understand my situation
Am I talking another language??

I feel like I'm been treated inhumanly
And made to feel like I'm over exaggerating my pain coz "people with mental health problems feel pain more than normal people"

That's such bull shit
I'd much rather be out with my kids than stuck inside drugged up unable to move

I'm mad I'm upset and emotional I feel guilty
I'm sick of been in pain

I just don't understand why it's nearly a month now and I'm still no better and I'm still getting doctors slamming doors in my face sort of speak

I could scream!!!!

OP posts:
Silvercatowner · 26/07/2018 07:41

people who have mental health problems tend to feel pain more than non mental health suffers

This may well apply to you. It doesn't mean you are making things up or being a wuss, it means that your mental state is impacting on your physical symptoms. It may be worth exploring this with your doctor.
