Unable to walk suddenly

TROUBLEDMAM · 03/07/2018 02:16

So on Thursday I suddenly became unable to walk
I could feel my back hurt n giving out n my legs trembling
Ive suffered with sciatica before n thought it was the beginning of an episode
Until Friday when I realised I couldn't walk at all
I called my gp out n she said it was sciatica n a pulled muscle
Give me strong drugs n left
Come Saturday night the drugs weren't masking the pain n I was sure they was something more wrong
I rang 111 who phoned an ambulance
They wouldn't take me to hospital said ring my doctor today
I did this n she said she would call back after speaking to another doctor but never did

I'm in absolute agony I'm pissing in a bucket
I've had muscle relaxers called lorazepam
Codeine phosphate paracetamol every four hours since Friday n I'm still in agony

Any one know wat I can do next?

I really don't think a n e will do anything other than tell me to get my gp to refer me for scans which is what they are doing

Go to bloody a&e instead of playing a martyr here.

I don't mean to scare you but my grandad lost the use of his legs and was taken to hospital and it was discovered he had pancreatic cancer and it had spread everywhere, he was dead within a week.

Not saying this is the case for you but for goodness sake woman go to hospital! You can't live your life without the use of your legs Confused

as do the ambulance service.
keep taking the tablets, hope you recover soon.

TheHobbitMum · 03/07/2018 18:08

Please go OP you NEED to be seen

FilledSoda · 03/07/2018 18:09

This is horrific . I'm astounded the first ambulance wouldn't take you, did they say why?
Doesn't matter , A&E NOW

pandamodium · 03/07/2018 18:09

You needs James Cook or the RVI.

They will 100% take you seriously, I promise.

My teen DD was blue lighted and straight on a ward with loss of feeling in one leg. This was only a couple of month back.

Your not in the B.A area are you?

Aloethere · 03/07/2018 18:13

I don't get this thread. If I lost the use of my legs I'd be terrified and wouId be at a&e even if I had to drag myself there. This has been going on since thursday, it's now Tuesday. Why are you still just calling your GP? Are you not worried you'll never be able to run around with you kids again? Worried it could be something really serious? Why is your husband not carrying you to a cab and bringing you to a&e? If I suddenly couldn't walk my husband wouldn't just let me stay in bed and carry on his day.

Do something, anything.

TROUBLEDMAM · 03/07/2018 18:29

I don't want to make a huge fuss
I'm petrified actually I'm an emotional wreck
Both myself and my wife are in tears daily
But we are doing what the medically professionals are telling us to do.

I feel like going to James cook will be a long as wait n with no further results

I'm in tears 😭 broken in pieces in agony
I came here for advise and I'm even more scared
I don't want to be over the top dramatic

Go. The worst thing is they will send you home again. But you need to go
I promise at no point was I ever scared, I just wanted the pain gone! And I get really nervous about medical stuff

clairethewitch70 · 03/07/2018 18:58

Please - you really need to go to A&E.

I have a long history of sciatica. I struggle to walk, with the pain, but have never lost the use of my legs. At its worst, I can't lift my leg high up enough and catch foot on steps.

It may be sciatica, or something else, but I would try and get an mri done, via medical assessment unit (GP referral) or going to A&E.

Labradoodliedoodoo · 03/07/2018 19:04

Catch taxi to a&e

Scans tests will be immediate

DBoo · 03/07/2018 19:06

@troubledmam i would definitely go to james cook.

If you decide against it,speak to your gp again tomorrow and ask them to refer you to the acute assessment unit that james cook has. This bypasses a&e and you see someone quite quickly then wait around for results. Tbh though it sounds like a&e is your best bet and it might be ok tonight. If you cant sit down hopefully they will get a bed for you. I know when you go through triage they will put you in a bed if needed.

LanguidLobster · 03/07/2018 19:49

@TROUBLEDMAM have you gone to see someone?

I'm a bit worried why you feel deterred about medical care. I haemorraged quite badly recently and doc through 111 fobbed me off, then it got much heavier and I lost patience and went into hospital. I did feel it was my right.

Hope you're getting seen to.

TROUBLEDMAM · 03/07/2018 20:31
