glitter , well done, I know that feeling of thinking you have sussed it na then runningout of energy - it can be a bit depressing

glitterfairy · 13/05/2007 18:10

Thanks Beets its been a tough time and have jsut emailed you with why!

lapsedrunner · 13/05/2007 19:11

sarz - you need to look at this www.ukathletics.net/clubs/search/ (sorry my links never work)

sarz · 13/05/2007 21:49

Thank you for that link, the nearest it can find to me is 14 miles away though!! considereing i live so close to london, i am sure there is one nearer!!

mckenzie · 14/05/2007 09:21

Sarz, my geography is pretty poor - are you near Billericay?

sarz · 14/05/2007 15:56

Mckenzie, its a good trip down the m25 away but thank you anyway! i am nearer london

hana · 14/05/2007 15:57

hiya
is anyone else having trouble motivating themselves in this weather? I was doing soooo well in March/April and seemed to have ground to a halt in the last couple of weeks
any tips?

mckenzie · 14/05/2007 18:46

Sarz - I'm seeing a friend tomorrow who runs with Billericay. I'll ask him if he knows of a good club nearer to London if you like.

MingMingtheWonderPet · 14/05/2007 21:18

Pidge - Sorry to hear that your foot is still sore. Did you make it to the doctor's today? What did s/he say?

Went out at the weekend, ran to the gym (about 5.5 miles). Met DH, DS and DD there and went for a swim. V nice morning.

(JoPG here btw, just fancied a name change.)

popsycal · 15/05/2007 07:09

quick question.
I ama running novice training for race for life in juky and hope to run all the way round and am following the programs on the race for life site

would i be unrealistic to try to do a 10K race in early september? is that really pushing it?

popsycal · 15/05/2007 08:15

,

mustrunmore · 15/05/2007 08:24

I'd say just go for it! It'll give you an incentive.

Back from my holiday. No running. But ankle/foot thing alot better. And got plenty of muscle ache from pushing mother round in a wheelchair over rough terrain

3sEnough · 15/05/2007 08:34

Popsycal - sounds eminently possible and is a really great goal - go for it!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 15/05/2007 08:39

Perfectly possible popsy. There are some Cancer Rearch 10k races in the Autumn. Most around the grounds of stately homes/gardens. There aren't women only but are similar to Race for Life as in they are 'no pressure' type races.

Maybe you could do some training on a bike to aid your knee problems.

OP posts:
popsycal · 15/05/2007 12:51

DH HAS A spare bike so i could do.....

wondering about the 10k.....it is at alnwick castle
but 10k is loooooooooooooong

hana · 15/05/2007 13:49

think you have lots of time to train for a 10k - I'd like to sign up for one as well, but would be nicer to have wsomeone to do it with

of course have to get off my butt and actually do some running, still not motivated in this shi**y weather

popsycal · 15/05/2007 14:43

whre are you hana....there are lots of them.....

popsycal · 15/05/2007 15:49

been reafing this and rolling inwards when running
my feet are really quite flat and I think I might be doing this which in turn is causing my pain as the worst pain in on the inside of my knee which i think is where the pressure would be wrongly distributed
does anyone else know any more about this and can offer advice??

popsycal · 15/05/2007 15:49

reading not reafing
ahem

popsycal · 15/05/2007 16:05

think i am going to have to buy some new trainers
the ones I have are decent running shoes but not supportive enough....i have some birthdway money

popsycal · 15/05/2007 17:51

.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 15/05/2007 17:57

Could you get a poditrist referral popsy? dh had one (he rolls his feet outwards) and he made him some inserts for his trainers.

Proper running shop will show you the right trainers for your over/under pronation - I never remember which is which.

OP posts:
popsycal · 15/05/2007 17:59

thats a good point saggermaker.
Can i get referred through my gp i wonder?
I have done more googling and hve LOTS of symptoms of overwhatsit but i think with years and years of exercise as a child and teenager (big dancer me) I think i self-corrected...but now that i am older and not as fit i think it is coming back to haunt me!

Will look into podiatrist
how would i go abotu finding one?

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 15/05/2007 19:15

dh got his referral through the gp. I might try to get one myself actually - I used to have my shoes built up as a child and wonder whether some inserts would help me out with my iffy hip.

OP posts:
mckenzie · 15/05/2007 19:45

popsycal, a good friend of mine is an eminent podiatrist and i will ask her if she can recommend someone in your area if you like. She is on holiday just now though. There must be a governing body or similar I would have though although probably word of mouth will be the best recommendation you could get.
Do you have a very good local running shop? They might know of someone?
